Dull!
The film sets out to trace the rise of an actress in the movie business and her expectation of love from the men who deceive her. If the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment controversy exposed the grime behind the world of glamour, Julie 2 hammers home the point that an ordinary girl, who harbors dreams of becoming a leading lady in the film industry, cannot reach the pinnacle of success relying on her talent alone.

PLUS POINTS:
Panmkaj Tripathi as the politician Ashwini Asthana is the saving grace of this illogical film, which is a sequel to the 2004-film Julie is good but the way it has been helmed by the director makes it a predictably dull tale devoid of anything by way of novelty.

MINUS POINT:
Raai Lakshmi who has already appeared in an itsy bitsy role in Akira, lets us down. The director has made an erotic tale though his intention could have been to make an emotional tale about a helpless girl trying to become an actress.

VERDICT:
Though the story is set in 2017, the narrative plays out like a 90s potboiler. The dialogues have been written to induce wolf-whistles but are cringe worthy. Avoid it, if you can!
