Orgasmic Delight!
The film, a remake of the Tamil hit Kalyana Samayal Sadham portrays a frustrating reality in a fun light and broach on a touchy ‘gents problem’ like erectile dysfunction whilst dispensing with unreliable myths about manhood. Love at first sight followed by a blue tick from the parents and marriage date is fixed, but when Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann) plants a hurried, awkward kiss gawkily on fiancée Sugandha’s (Bhumi Pednekar) eager and excited lips and explore each other, he is literally unable to rise to the occasion. Efforts to get him cured form the rest of the film as families and relatives also get involved.

PLUS POINTS:
Sex is treated with an ease that’s endearing and desire is delved into matter-of-factly, without sounding crass or indecently vulgar. Ayushmann Khurrana is in excellent form but it is Bhumika who brilliantly underplays her role without making it look vulgar

MINUS POINTS:
The screenplay starts faltering somewhere mid-way and becomes repetitive. Bhumika Pednekar once again reminds us just how convincing she can be as a real honest-to-goodness young woman in search of love but she is likely to be type-cast.

VERDICT:
With its refreshing take on love, sex and dhokha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is an orgasmic delight and deserves a must-dekho.
