To celebrate womanhood and to spread awareness about gender equality, #InternationalWomensDay is celebrated on March 8th every year, and this year the theme is #EmbraceEquity. On International Women’s Day #&TV artists, Neha Joshi (Yashoda) from Doosri Maa, Kamna Pathak (Rajesh Singh), Himani Shivpuri (Katori Amma), Sapna Sikarwar (Bimlesh) from Happu ki Ultan Paltan, Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi), and Vidisha Srivastava (Anita Bhabi) from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai talk about embracing equity for creating an inclusive world.

Neha Joshi, essaying Yashoda in &TV’s Doosri Maa, says, “Jab hai naari main shakti Saari, to Phir Kyun naari ko kahe bechari? – I read this quote somewhere that has made an ever-lasting impact as I relate to every word. Women symbolize power and strength but often encounter bias within their families, workspaces, and other spheres. In a diverse world, inclusivity is a necessity. We are empowered to be whatever and who we choose to be. We must embrace and celebrate this. Let’s give equity a huge embrace on this International Women’s Day. I wish for a world where differences are acknowledged, appreciated, and celebrated. So, let us pledge to forge women’s equality with #Embraceequity.”

Himani Shivpuri, essaying Katori Amma in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “Gender inequality is still an issue. The theme #EmbraceEquity is an excellent way to raise awareness of gender equality. We cannot have a free and equal society until women enjoy equal rights as men. It is a human right, and we are all entitled to it. Over the years, there have been drastic changes with better representation of women in politics, more economic opportunities, and better healthcare. But still, in many regions, women continue to face unfair treatment, which needs to address. Women cannot succeed when half of us are held back, so gender equality must be embraced by all the women in society, which is possible only if we create a gender-equal environment. Cheers to all women around the world! Happy Women’s Day.”

Shubhangi Atre, essaying Angoori Bhabi in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, says, “Women are synonymous with power, strength, and beauty but society treats us as inferior to men. Although my family has always treated me with equal love and respect, I know how women are treated in other sections of our society. It breaks my heart to see a woman’s inequality right from childhood, which gradually spreads across her professional and personal spheres. I am glad that this issue is being internationally acknowledged and is now a part of global discourse under this year’s International Women’s Day theme. On International Women’s Day, I want to say that having a voice, speaking up, and embracing our womanhood is extremely critical. Standing up for what you truly believe in is not selfish. Be aware and express yourself and what you want out of life”.

Kamna Pathak, essaying Rajesh in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “ Indian society is changing a lot by accepting roles women play – as breadwinners in families, professionals, or independent thinkers. Women have proven themselves time and again as equals in every aspect. This year’s theme of “Embrace Equity” is a burning topic, and I feel more and more people should talk and create a society where both men and women are treated equally. By embracing equity, we embrace diversity and inclusion, and through this process of equity, we can achieve equality.”

Vidisha Srivastava, essaying Anita Bhabi in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, says, “As a woman, it feels amazing to celebrate Women’s Day when everyone wishes us. The feeling of being loved and respected makes us feel special. I also believe that despite celebrating women on a specific day, we should celebrate, respect, and love womanhood throughout the year. It is because we all have different battles to fight personally and professionally. Since childhood, my mother has always treated me and my brother and brother equally. My family has followed it for generations, and I feel very proud about it. As they say, “charity begins at home.” We should all completely remove this evil of business from our lives and expect society to change gradually. Let’s take one step at a time towards a bias-free society and treat the women in our lives with the utmost respect and empower the ‘Naari Shakti’.”

Sapna Sikarwar, essaying Bimlesh in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “Today we are everywhere where we want to be, doing everything we want to do. We were given this life because we are smart, strong, and capable of living it. We know how to achieve our dreams, but in India and many developing countries, many women are not where they need to be. The most significant thing for us is education, and the second thing is the support of our families. There’s something so special about a woman who dominates a man’s world. It takes grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and nerve to never take no for an answer. In celebration of women’s day, let us educate and empower those in need. Wishing a very happy Women’s Day to all.”

Watch Doosri Maa at 8:00 pm, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan at 10:00 pm, and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai at 10:30 pm, airing every Monday to Friday on &TV.

The objective of #SaferInternetDay is to raise awareness on how to make the internet a safer and better place for all, mainly for children and young people. Here’s what these celebs have to say about the use of the #internet.

Rewati Limaye : Internet has really become a major part of our lives. It’s come to a point where we can’t think of our lives without accessing the internet. It’s become a very important need of the day to make the internet safer, one is for our children because there is an insane amount of negativity out there. There are certain dangerous elements out there which children can get easily influenced by. This whole competition of social media and number of followers and number of views can really take a toll on you especially on the youth of the country who is now practically obsessed with making reels. That’s an added pressure. We all really have by now that our phones or any gadgets connected to the internet are always listening to our conversations and are always listening to what is happening in our lives. It’s a different thing when it is only targeted towards taking that information and marketing certain products to us, that can be harmless to a certain level but all our information is being recorded and misuse should not happen because we don’t have a way to monitor this. As AI grows and becomes a part of our lives, I think along with that some very strict measures and serious work needs to be done about how it needs to be a safer place. With the internet there is this whole issue of trolling and people just come and say whatever they want. You can’t see the person’s face and it takes a toll on mental health. We have seen many examples of people committing suicide. There needs to be a filter when it comes to safety and what you can see or not see on the internet.

Nikhil Nanda : Internet has definitely been a great equaliser. It’s been more of a boon because a lot of people who didn’t have access to higher ups can now reach out to them on social media and the accessibility has grown. The information is available at a click of a button and we are able to know what’s happening around the world in a few seconds which in earlier days would take a number of days to get to know about it. So, the internet definitely has a lot more benefits than the discomfort which always comes along with any technology that’s there. Then comes the question of being able to control. It’s the same that one peg or two pegs of whiskey is good for your health but if you overdrink then it’s bad, so same goes for social media. You should use it according to your need and what is optimum. You need to know where to stop and not to get overwhelmed by the Internet.

Sudhanshu Pandey : The Internet has changed our lives forever. Before we knew it, we were all so used to the internet. The faster way of communication and the faster way to reach out to somebody whether it’s banking or an email across the seven seas. The Internet has made us completely dependent on it but it has a lot of downsides, especially for children because they have access to the whole dark world of the internet which has a lot of stuff that can influence kids in a wrong way or misguide them. I don’t know how we can control the Internet but we can definitely control our children and guide them so that they know that the internet has to be used to their benefit and not to destroy their mind or thinking.

Priya Paramita Paul ; At this present moment, the Internet has become a part of our daily life, right from work, to interacting with family, sharing media and everything. I think my day starts in the morning giving a call to my parents and sister through WhatsApp which is again with the use of the internet and when I go to sleep I do a video call with my family. These things are so personal that it is possible only because of the internet. The Internet is an integral part of my life and it depends on how people make use of such great inventions. I want people who misuse it to think about a life when there was no internet. Be safe because internet is creating a greater and easier life for everyone because when we are sleeping, somewhere else in the world people are using internet for their daily routine

Sonu Chandrapal : Yes Internet is boon and bane both and it depends on the use. We should raise awareness about it because even today there are people in India who don’t know how to use these technologies, especially the aged and 60 plus people. They should be aware of it. There are people who misuse the internet and even for that people should be aware about it like about the fraud that happens and how harmful it can be. The Internet definitely has given us a lot and in our daily life the Internet is our need from watching recipes online to searching for information to studying etc. However we must be aware about the fraud and scams related to banking.

Charrul Malik : Excess of everything is bad. The Internet is a boon but at the same time it has a lot of other drawbacks. We are completely dependent on the internet and since everything is a touch away so we have stopped learning and exploring manually like the things we did in our earlier days. We don’t remember phone numbers of our near and dear ones because we are doing everything digitally. Also because of doing everything digitally it takes a toll on the mental health of children and affects their brain and eyesight. We should use the Internet for good purpose. We should cut down on screen hours and start using newspapers and books. We should start discussing things and start writing. The Internet is safe only when you use it for a limited duration. We should give kids phones after a certain age so that they don’t lose their innocence. The Internet is making us handicapped and we should think about it and keep on doing our practical things too like writing and reading.

Mitaali Nag : Internet is a blessing if used properly. It helps broaden our knowledge so much. Whether it is booking tickets for travelling, or checking the weather or using the maps or even finding a life partner. Everything has become convenient and quick because of the internet. It’s a medium that helps you find quick answers. It helps us make our life convenient. However, as much as the internet serves as a great resource available just at our fingertips, it can also be harmful if not used mindfully. Too much addiction of being online, seeing other people’s glorious life, and mindless scrolling has a negative effect on one’s mental health. Not just this, lack of privacy, ID theft, easy availability of inappropriate material which is not suitable for all age groups are some of the bad effects of the internet. I do use the internet in my daily life. Especially to watch world cinema and tv, to learn new things, and the maps very frequently to reach to a new location.

Talking about #sex is still #taboo when it comes to #India, especially among #women and even #men. #Celebrities give their #views on if this needs to change or not.

Subuhii Joshii: Forget talking about sex, even using the word sex, is such a big taboo. I think rather than appreciating people who talk about and express their need for sex verbally, they are looked down upon. I think it’s because we are taught since childhood, that’s how we have grown up and that needs to change. I am not saying going and talking unnecessarily where it’s not required, but it should change. Sex education is very important. It should be made mandatory in schools.

Nirisha Basnett: Honestly, India is still liberal compared to a few countries that have strict rules when it comes to women and sex. Indonesia just banned sex outside marriage under a new criminal code. In countries like Iraq and Afghanistan and most Muslim countries, wearing hijab and fully covered dress is compulsory for women. 90 percent of women undergo Female Genital Mutilation in Africa and Middle Eastern countries. In Iran, virgin girls, who are in prison are forced to marry and get raped by the prisoners before execution. And India is still far from that sick world. Hopefully, considering talking about Sex, a taboo in India is still nothing compared to the above in-human behaviour when it comes to sex and women in several countries. But in India, more than just a mere expression of talking about sex, the problem lies in addressing and prioritising the real issues surrounding sex like rape, marital rape, punishment for rape, sexual harassment, LGBTQ rights, and sex education in schools and households. From my understanding, sex is such a private thing, why does one need to express their need to the world? Talk it with the person that they want to have sex with or with the younger ones who need to be aware of sex education.

Aniruddh Dave: India is a country of culture and ethics. Do not let the west overpower you in every aspect, the thoughts, customs, rituals, and mentality in certain things. Kuch baatein parde mein, lihaz mein achi lagti hain.

Nikhil Nanda: It is still taboo in India. But it should be normalized. It is not going to change overnight, but slowly it is changing. And with the generations to come, it will be absolutely normal to talk about it.

Priya Paramitaa Paul: I do agree that even now in this in our generation, the word sex is still taboo. We cannot even talk about it in tier-two cities and villages. Yes, in the metro to a certain extent people have accepted, but that would be hardly 3% of our entire India. I feel that sex should be taught in public be it, men and women, because crime like rape is a result of why we don’t talk about it, we don’t give sex education to our children, we make those boundaries that you need to get married, you cannot look for other men, you cannot look for other women. And so many things, if somebody even expresses that this is our this is what I need, we are judged. And I feel that these things should be changed, this is a natural phenomenon given by God for our body, these are hormones that our body produces, right? It is as same as when we are thirsty, we need water. When we are hungry, we need food. So, I don’t think that sex is something that should be hidden from people, especially for education, purposes, everyone should know about sex. And this awareness can be one of the reasons that can avoid that brutal crime, the brutal rape-murder that we hear about every day.

Ambuj Dixit: This awareness will come gradually. It can change by both men and women being open about their needs. People talk about true love, but one has to remember for love to be true, sex plays an important part too. And that should be clear to both genders. For a relationship to thrive or materialize into marriage also sex plays an important part. So it’s a very important part of one’s personal life. It can only be changed by being more open and upfront about it by both genders.

Everyone has a bucket list and everyone wants to lead a #happy, #comfortable, and #luxuriouslife, but we all have that one thing on our list that we want to achieve before we are on our deathbeds. Here’s what these celebrities would like to achieve before they die:

Sudhanshu Pandey: Well, one thing which I wish to achieve before I die is to earn a lot of respect not just in my industry, not just in my country, but all across the globe. And I hope to make my kids proud enough so that they can take my legacy forward.

Anuradha Singh: One thing I wish to achieve before I die is to get soul satisfaction. Without this, I feel everything is incomplete. You can do whatever you want, but it will be incomplete until your soul is satisfied. So before I die, I want to look at myself first as a satisfied soul.

Nivedita Basu: I want to become the head of a big international platform.

Mitu: Travel the world and leave behind a legacy to be remembered by.

Ambuj Dixit: It’s hard to just say one thing. I’m a dreamer and have a long list to fulfill before I die. I really want to visit Michael Jackson’s home Neverland once, that’s the one thing I missed when I visited California a few years back. It also includes traveling the world, having my own house in my favorite city New York, and also opening an NGO for all the homeless and abandoned pets/dogs where they can live their life to the fullest.

Priya Paramita Paul: Many people try to make their wishlist of what they should achieve before they die. But I feel if I’m alive, that’s when I can achieve all these things in my life. So first I will choose my life and on my deathbed, I do not want to think about all the regrets of my life. I want to be happy. A few years back I was just an IT professional then I added one more dream to be a life coach then I added another to be in a pageant. Then my next dream was to win for India and now my next dream is to be an actor and be known for doing good projects. There are a couple of more dreams where I would like to work with NGOs, open many shelters and homes for animals, and also want to give a lot of inspirational workshops and training to people who think their life is over. There are a lot of things on my bucket list that I want to do before I die.
