Ali Fazal has been constantly making a splash with his international projects, working with some of the best talent from the west. Just last year it was announced that the actor has been roped in to play one of the leads alongside Gerard Butler in the action packed film Kandahar, which is set to release in 2023. Now the actor will next been seen in, Afghan Dreamers which is being directed by two time Oscar winning director, Bill Guttentag. Bill has won the prestigious Academy title for his two short films, You Don’t Have to Die and Twin Towers.

Shoot for Afghan Dreamers recently began in Morocco and will be a 50 days schedule, with majority of the film being shot across Morocco and Budapest. The film is the true story about the program that was started by Afghan tech entrepreneur, Roya Mahboob in 2017 as a way to help young women develop their skills in the field of science and technology, despite a heavily patriarchal society in the country they hail from. The film throws light on chaotic, sometimes dangerous backdrop of the country’s politics. The story tells the tale of the team of the Afghan girls who traveled across the world and participated in competitions, garnered global media attention and even met leading politicians from across the globe. The role of Roya will be essayed by The Bold Type famed Nikohl Boosheri.

Speaking about it, Ali said, “Excited and humbled to be sharing notes and being directed by Bill who has an impeccable body of work. Afghan Dreamers is a very important story to be told and I’m happy to be part of its cinematic retelling”.

The film is being produced by Laura Overdeck, Samudrika Arora and Bill Guttentag.

Earlier, filmmakers Ajay Kapoor and Subhash Kale announced their ambitious project ‘Garud’, mounted on a large scale to present the heartening story inspired by the true events of the Afghan rescue crisis. Now, Ajay kapoor has signed the international director Rotem Shamir, known for globally acclaimed successes like Fauda, Hit and Run, and Hostages amongst others for the big-budget project, making his Indian Film debut.

The makers announced the project earlier with a motion poster that caught the attention of the public, offering a glimpse into the patriotic film.

Mounted on a large scale, the filmmaker duo Ajay Kapoor and Subhash Kale has been devising the best treatment for the ambitious film and hence, roping in the best team possible.

Taking the first step towards the visionary aim, Ajay Kapoor has onboarded the international director Rotem Shamir, for his first Indian project.

Announcing the director, Ajay Kapoor shares, “Garud is a huge project for me, I’m emotionally driven to the film and want to give it the best treatment possible. Rotem Shamir is a renowned filmmaker and has a great experience in the sensibilities that we are looking at for Garud. Rotem Shamir and I are planning various projects together as a team. Being from Israel and having made a show about the conditions of hostages, the understanding and vision he possesses will definitely help us. We wanted someone to grasp the emotional quotient as well as cater to the international sensibilities as the subject has an universal appeal.”

Subhash Kale shares, “Right from the inception, we have been working on bringing together the best team possible for Garud. We are tapping into all avenues, and I am really looking forward to this project.”

Rotem Shamir says, “Garud is a very exciting film, while it is focused on the Indian aspect of the story, it has a universal appeal that promises to connect with people all across. I have been fascinated with the content from the Indian entertainment industry for a long time, hence when Ajay kapoor brought this film to me, I knew I had to take it. Especially looking forward to working with Ajay Kapoor, who has been associated with so many varied films, I am really excited for the long term association with Ajay Kapoor.

Having backed films like Parmanu (2018) Pari (2018), Bazaar (2018), Pataakha (2018), Romeo Akbar Walter (2019) Attack (2022) Roy(2015) as well as being associated with Baby (2015) and Airlift (2016) and many more. Ajay Kapoor returns to the same zone with his upcoming film Garud and collaborates with Subhash Kale.

Offering an insight into the film, the motion poster presented the theme song ‘Mera Bharat Hai Mahaan’, composed by Ravi Basrur, who has also composed the background score of the film.

Produced by Ajay Kapoor and Subhash Kale under the banners of Ajay Kapoor Productions and Vikrant Studio, Garud is expected to announce the cast of the film soon.

As the events unfold in the subcontinent and keep the world on tenterhooks, in Mumbai Shiva’s SALUTE pays homage to the Indian Armed Forces, martyrs and all those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

After the successful launch of SALUTE in the Queen of Suburbs, Bandra recently, the new themed Shiva’s SALUTE came up in another upscale suburb Vile Parle (East) in the city.

The new salon was inaugurated by Mr. Avinash Dharmadhikari, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Maharashtra Government, on August 31, 2021.

The salon is named SALUTE as a mark of tribute to the bravery and valour of the Indian Armed Forces. The interiors are designed to show visitors what a typical army barrack looks like and how tough it must be for the forces to spend days and nights in difficult conditions.

Award winning film director Madhur Bhandarkar, Member of Parliament Mr. Rahul Shewale and Dyneshwar Ganore were the chief guests . Well-known south Indian film star Saurabh Bhandary, film producer Suresh Bhandary and Mr. Rajeev Khandelwal, Media Director and currently directing feature films for T-Series graced the occasion.

ACP Avinash Dharmadhikari praised the efforts of Shiva, the hairstylist, proprietor and the brain behind this unique concept and said that he salutes him for his efforts at dedicating the salon to India’s Armed Forces.

On the occasion, Shiva said the word SALUTE instantly creates an immense feeling of pride towards our men in uniform. Quite appropriately, not only does the salon instill a sense of pride but also stirs patriotic feelings as one steps inside.

The interiors are decorated with army paraphernalia resembling life in a barrack. The brick walls that bear a rugged look have old-styled small functional mirrors that army men use while shaving. The vintage electric switches, rare in use now, transport a person to another era. There are military boxes, kits, bullet boxes, logs of wood, badges, helmets, an old model of a military aircraft and a motorbike.

There is also an exclusive photo frame of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in uniform. Interestingly, the wall decor matches with the green attire, resembling military fatigues, worn by the staff. Shiva, himself dressed in a green coat, announced that a portion of the profits would go to the Army Welfare Fund.

The house of Shiva’s is a chain of 23 salons, located across the length and breadth of the city. They are already a known name with a large spectrum of customers from the glamour, fashion, show business and corporate world.

At Shiva’s SALUTE, hairstylists are specially trained to offer military-styled haircuts and the overall look. It is an effort to remind the young generation about how the Indian Army is always vigilant 24/7 to defend our borders and to provide invaluable help to the people of India during all calamities.
