In today’s fast-paced world, where individual aspirations and financial ambitions often take precedence, the importance of a joint family cannot be overstated. Living together teaches people the value of sharing responsibilities, standing by one another during difficult times and putting relationships above personal interests. A strong family bond can provide emotional security and support that money alone cannot buy. Marathi cinema has often explored such themes through entertaining family dramas. Afratafri, presented by Skyline Cinematic, YEN Movie Studios and Out Of The Box Films, attempts to convey a similar message about the significance of family, love and togetherness. Unfortunately, despite its underlying sentiment, the film struggles to deliver a thoroughly engaging experience.

The story revolves around three brothers who are desperately in need of money. Driven by their individual ambitions and selfish motives, each devises one or more schemes to improve his financial situation. However, their attempts to make quick money lead to a series of complications, turning their lives into complete chaos. As the situation spirals out of control, they eventually realise that family, love, emotional bonding and relationships are far more valuable than monetary gains. Directed by Milind Zumber Kavde, the film features Mohan Agashe as Dashrath Tatya, Shashank Shende as Namdeo, Sanjay Narvekar as Hari Master and Omkar Bhojane as Dnyana. The supporting cast includes Asavari Joshi as Rukmini, Prajakta Hanamghar as Lakshmi, Neha Khan as Anjali, Sanjay Khapre as Sarpanch Giridhar and Kishori Ambiye as Sukanya, along with several other familiar faces.

While the film has an appealing central idea, its execution leaves much to be desired. Milind Zumber Kavde’s story and screenplay follow a conventional route, with predictable developments weakening the impact of the drama. Although a few comic sequences and emotional moments manage to engage the audience, the overall narrative lacks the freshness and intensity required to leave a lasting impression. Sanjay Navgire’s dialogues work well in certain scenes but lack consistency. Among the performers, Shashank Shende and Mohan Agashe
deliver good performances, while Sanjay Narvekar make his presence felt with his comic timing and excels in emotional scenes too. Omkar Bhojane is adequate but Neha Khan looks stunning and her dancing skills are noticable. She actually surprises with her impeccable comic timing around seasoned comedic actors. She has a fantastic screen presence and if given a strong, meaty roles she can rule the Marathi film industry in the days to come. Asavari Joshi, Prajakta Hanamgar, Kishori Ambiye and others lend good support. Kavde’s direction fails to extract the full potential of the subject. Varun Likhate’s music and the lyrics by Mandar Cholkar, Varun Likhate and Rapboss are passable, while Rahul Thombre’s choreography is passable.Despite it’s positive message about the importance of family and relationships, Afratafri remains an ordinary comic drama.
