There is a plethora of crime-based content available on Indian television these days, but & TV’s Mauka-E-Vardaat is unique and refreshingly different. The daily episodes will showcase some of the most bizarre, unimaginable and inconceivable crime stories that will compel the audience to question – Yeh Hua TohKaise Hua? The show will an anthology series featuring the most thrilling and most mysterious crimes, inspired by real-life stories, leaving the audience at the edge of the seats with the most unpredictable turn of events.

I will be giving a prelude into some of the most chilling tales of unimaginable and mindboggling crimes, its magnitude of salaciousness and bizarreness. There have been so many shows on a variety of genres, but Mauka-E-Vardaat stood out for me. It is the kind of show that convinced me to be a part of it in a heartbeat. After understanding the concept in detail, I realized that the show would showcase such unthinkable and inconceivable crime stories beyond belief. The impossible is possible in the eyes of crime, and the people need to know that. These stories will be the hook point for the audience to watch.

The crime series genre has been and continues to the Indian audiences’ all-time favourite. Indians appetite and fascination with salacious and mindboggling crime stories and mysteries has always been a cornerstone to various crime-based storytelling on Indian television. Crime fiction is appealing mainly because of the adventure and suspense as it offers the edge-of-the-seat thrill. With crime fiction, there comes an element of criminal psychology; people are often inquisitive about why one would commit a crime or how a criminal’s mind works and what drove them into committing such a heinous crime.

Apart from presenting the most inconceivable, unimaginable crimes, the show will also have a woman protagonist playing an instrumental role in unravelling these extraordinary crimes’ mystery. The viewers can expect twisted crime mysteries in the show.

In my experience, the regional and Hindi content, though have similarities but stand out in their unique way. Languages are quite a good learning experience and exciting. No only one becomes fluent in the language but also gets to work on different content that each has to offer. I get the best of both worlds! But I strongly relate to the Bhojpuri audience. When performing for them in their language, it is like ‘Maa ke haath ka khaana’ which gives me the confidence to accept that I am a Bhojpuri superstar.

My only message to the viewers is to keep their eyes open, be aware and watch out of any signs of a possible crime. Your safety always comes first. A criminal doesn’t always look or behave like one, so it is essential to be mindful of your surroundings and teach your children to understand the difference between right and wrong, be aware and most importantly be cautious and alert. It is a joint effort and at the end of the day, it is the lives of our loved ones that matter the more than anything in the world.

Gracy Singh who essays the role of Santoshi Maa in &TV’s Santoshi Maa Sunaye Vrat Kathayein shares, “Going by the puranas, Mahashivratri is the night when Lord Shiva consumed a pot full of poison which was among the many things which emerged out of the samudramanthan. BholenathjI saved the world by storing the poison in his throat and also got named as Neelkanth. According to another theory, Lord Shiva had performed the divine dance of creation, preservation and destruction on the night which is called Mahashivratri.” Talking about the celebrations.

Tanvi Dogra aka Swati shares, “On the day of the festival, devotees rise early, take a bath and wear new clothes. They clean the temple area and offer fruits and milk along with flowers, belpatra and dhatura to the Shivalinga. It is then followed by the chanting of Shiv Chalisa, aarti and Maha mrityunjay mantra post which, prasad in the form of halwa or kheer is offered to Lord Shiva. Devotees observe fast and consume only fruits throughout the day. Before the sun sets, a puja session is organised post which satvik food can be consumed. I wish all those observing fast and celebrating this festival a very happy Mahashivratri.”

‘Yeshu’ is a story of an exceptionally benevolent child who only wants to do good and spread happiness all around him. His love and compassion for all is a stark contrast to the dark, evil forces prevalent during his lifetime. Witnessing the various atrocities on his family and in society has a deep impact on him. His attempt to help others and ease their pain often leads to situations where he inevitably ends up being hurt and condemned, by not just the oppressors, but also people at large. But even that does not stop Yeshu from continuing on his path.

Born in a cowshed and devoutly religious home, Yeshu, in his growing up years, has profound knowledge and understanding of spirituality and religion, which shapes his core beliefs of love, compassion, forgiveness and peace. Aarya Dharmchand who portrays the role of ‘Joseph’ said, “I am excited to be a part of this show. I have essayed varied characters throughout my career, but this one surely stands out. Joseph is a good-hearted man who is generous and loyal. He takes his responsibilities very seriously and has the strength to take on the hardest of tasks. Joseph is immensely protective of his family, especially Mary and Yeshu. Even though he faces many challenges in his life, he never blames anyone for his miseries and instead faces them boldly.”

Darpan Srivastava who portrays the role of ‘King Herod’ said, “The character of King Herod is that of a cruel, selfish and debauched king solely guided by his self-interest. He rules over people by generating fear rather than respect. Shaitan, the evil force influences him. Rudra Soni who portrays the role of King Herod’s son Herod Antipas’ said, “When I heard the narration of my character – King Antipas, I was quite thrilled. King Antipas is even more spiteful and radical than his father, King Herod.  He is a menacing young king who quite violent and deadly and enjoys torturing people. The role is undoubtedly quite powerful, and I am sure the viewers too will agree when they see me on screen. It has allowed me to try something new and challenging.
