Koyaliya Bole is the fifth track of Neha’s ‘Bandish Based Originals’ series on her own YouTube channel. Neha recently sang Nasha Ishq ka for the film Nikamma and Oh Mama and Rabbit for Ayushman Khurana’s Anek.

Neha elaborates about this unique concept “As someone who has trained in Hindustani classical music for several years I have always wanted to incorporate this art form in my independent tracks. It was this thought with which I decided to revamp my favourite Raag Bandishes into more contemporary and personalised versions. I started penning new lyrics and notations to the various Bandishes I knew and recreated them with Rupjit Das who has done the music production of my series released over the past one year”, says Neha.

After collaborating with renowned vocalists like Sonu Nigam, Vishal Mishra, Pawandeep Rajan and Ash King this is her first track with Abhay Jodhpurkar.

Talking about her association with Abhay, she added, “It’s been a privilege to collaborate with Abhay Jodhpurkar as he is an extraordinary vocalist. When I made him hear the first draft of Koyaliya Bole, he was very gracious and immediately agreed to become a part of it. As a lyricist and composer, I am always trying to blend the traditional and contemporary and Abhay’s singing is the perfect combination of two. His classical base is phenomenal and can blend into to any genre with precision”.

“The way Abhay brought in nuances of Raag Malkuans, while also adding a little bit of vibrato and falsetto, is exactly what took this track to the next level” Neha elaborates.

Talking about his experience Abhay Jodhpurkar concludes, “Neha has revamped the song very beautifully. I had a great experience working with her. The song is very soulful and has a blend of Indian classical music and a very indie essence to it”.

Young Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana intends to unify India through cinematic experiences. The poster boy of disruptive cinema in India, also lovingly called ‘The Ayushmann Khurrana Genre’, feels that just like sports, films can also bring people closer. He calls his next release Anek, a ‘true blue patriotic film’ that is aiming to deliver a progressive message to Indians about the need to celebrate inclusivity and diversity.

Ayushmann says, “I have always believed that sports and cinema have the power to unite India. They transcend identities and evoke the feeling of being one in that moment. I have closely seen how sports brings people together in celebration and I have also witnessed how cinema can be the unifier of audiences.”

He adds, “When you go to watch a sport, you are united by the emotion of cheering and praying for India to win at the highest level. When you go to watch movies, you don’t care who is sitting next to you but what you care for is the experience you are going to have in a packed theatre full of strangers who have come to have a shared exhilarating experience through films. The intent of Anek is just that.”

Ayushmann further says, “Anubhav Sinha sir and I want people to ponder over the idea of being an Indian. We want people to feel that at the end of the day, we all want India on the right side of history and for India to come through, no matter what. Anek is a true blue patriotic film and I instantly loved the script for that. It gives out a progressive message about inclusivity – something that I have vehemently stood for through my brand of cinema.”

Ayushmann has a stellar line up of films in 2022. Apart from Anubhav Sinha’s Anek that releases on May 27, he will also be seen in Anubhuti Kashyap’s Doctor G and film-maker Aanand L. Rai’s Action Hero being directed by debutant Anirudh Iyer.

Answering Archana Puran Singh, who asked him about the “why” quotient behind the film, Anubhav Sinha said, “The genesis of the film began with my teacher, who used to teach me Tai-Chi, which is a little different from Yoga. He is from Nagaland; Deepak Das is his name. A lot of times, I used to ask him, “where are you from?”, “what is your culture like? the food you eat?” among other things. During those conversations, every morning when we were working out, I got the spark, which then went to the film. I did not know much about this region as Ayushmann (Khurrana) rightly said. I did not know about the Northeast’s seven states. I then got into it and started flipping through books as well as people. I had a lot of conversations with different people. There are not a lot of films or documentaries about the subject only articles.”

The director then spoke about the difficulties he faced in the making of the film, “I faced many difficulties making the film because I had to do academic research for this. It took me a year only to study the subject I was making the film on. Big books!”

He also spoke about filming in the Northeast, “We had such fun filming in the region. It’s such a beautiful place, our Northeast, it’s such an unexplored territory. We shot in Assam, Meghalaya, and Shillong, which is known as ‘Scotland of the East’. Even if you go there as a tourist, it would be a pleasurable experience for you. It’s an unexplored territory for the Indian film industry and we had loads of fun!”

On Andrea and her unprecedented performance in the film, ‘Anek’ director Anubhav Sinha says “There couldn’t be a better choice for the lead role in Anek than Andrea. Her northeastern roots have added originality to the story. Apart from that, Andrea has lost a lot of sweat for this character. Her tough looks and phenomenal acting has helped her embody the character well” Andrea, who is playing the role of a Boxer named AIDO in ‘Anek’ is said to have a knack as an actress. She will be seen bringing a unique approach to the craft that will be exhibited in the film.

Talking about her experience of working with Ayushmann and Anubhav Sinha, Andrea says, ” When it finally dawned on me that I would be working with creatives that are such big names in the industry, I think I just scared myself into thinking I wouldn’t be able to deliver as well as they had expected me to. But Ayushmann and Anubhav Sir created such a comfortable environment for me on set that I felt no added pressure to over-perform or do anything that was beyond my capabilities- being a newcomer in this field.”

For the first time, Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen essaying the role of an undercover officer while the leading lady Andrea will be seen slipping into the role of a National-level boxing fighter named AIDO in ‘Anek’.

Andrea, who is proud of her Naga roots believes that her uniqueness has set her apart from other models. Her extraordinary yet sharp lineaments have helped her garner attention from major global brands and are one of the reasons why she enjoyed a successful modeling career.

The video also gives audiences a glimpse of the actor’s two personas – Joshua and Aman.
