Following a private screening, Kashyap shared his initial reaction, declaring the upcoming film to be Subbaraj’s finest directorial work to date.

Taking to Letterboxd after watching the film, Kashyap awarded Dorothy a near-perfect rating and wrote, “Karthik Subbaraj’s boldest and best work so far. So surprising and pleasantly shocking that you just can not see it coming.” The review marks the film’s first public reaction and has already heightened anticipation among cinema lovers.

Known for pathbreaking films such as Black Friday, Gangs of Wasseypur, Ugly and Kennedy, Anurag Kashyap has long been regarded as one of India’s most influential filmmakers. His endorsement carries significant weight, particularly for a filmmaker like Karthik Subbaraj, whose work has consistently pushed the boundaries of mainstream Tamil cinema.

Backed by Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment, Dorothy recently unveiled its first teaser ahead of its world premiere at TIFF 2026. The Tamil-language feature has been selected for the festival’s prestigious Centrepiece section, which showcases celebrated filmmakers and highly anticipated world premieres from around the world.

Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Dorothy is his landmark 10th feature film and is described as his most emotionally resonant work to date. Renowned auteur Anurag Kashyap has officially signed on to present Chaar Diwaari, an atmospheric short film helmed by director Syed Shadan, just in time for its North American debut at the 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. Celebrating a major victory for Indian indie filmmakers, the project stands out as one of the few Indian titles invited to this year’s lineup at Fantasia—globally recognized as the premier destination for genre storytelling.

Produced by Shivek Gupta and Syed Shadan, the psychological horror thriller has been selected for the prestigious Fragments d’Asie section and will make its North American premiere on July 30, 2026.

Chaar Diwaari follows the unsettling journey of a man who rents a seemingly ordinary house, only to discover that its walls conceal a terrifying secret of their own. Blending psychological tension with atmospheric horror, the film explores fear, isolation and the unseen horrors that can inhabit the spaces we call home.

Known for championing bold, original voices in cinema, Anurag Kashyap’s decision to present Chaar Diwaari, alongside Ranjan Singh, further underscores the film’s artistic vision and international appeal. Their association lends further momentum to a film already poised to make its mark on the global festival circuit.

Speaking about presenting the film, Anurag Kashyap said, “Chaardiwari creates a sense of dread, you see what’s happening and you feel it can’t be happening and it’s not possible and then it takes you into the same place that you’ve been dreading while you’ve been living through it. Loved it.”

Says Ranjan, “Chaar Diwaari is like a quintessential short thriller, as it reminded me of some of the classic films in the genre. It’s moody, mostly grey and shocking. Shadan definitely has a unique voice and Fantasia is the right platform for the film to premiere.”

Expressing his excitement about the film’s North American premiere and Anurag Kashyap’s support, Syed Shadan said, “Chaar Diwaari began with a simple but unsettling thought—what if the walls around us remember more than we do? It’s a story about fear, isolation and the invisible weight that spaces can carry. To have the film premiere at Fantasia, a festival I have admired for its celebration of fearless genre cinema, is a dream come true. Having Anurag sir come on board as presenter makes this journey even more special. His encouragement means a great deal, especially for an independent filmmaker telling an unconventional story.”

Fantasia International Film Festival is one of the world’s most prestigious showcases for genre cinema and has long served as a launchpad for groundbreaking horror, thriller, fantasy and science fiction films from across the globe. The inclusion of Chaar Diwaari in the Fragments d’Asie programme places it among a curated selection of compelling contemporary Asian cinema, offering the film an important international platform for its North American debut.

With Anurag Kashyap and Ranjan Singh presenting the film and its North American premiere set for one of the world’s foremost genre film festivals, Chaar Diwaari marks an exciting milestone for Syed Shadan and contemporary Indian independent cinema.

The makers of Bandar have released the trailer, which immerses you further into its realm, packed with surprises, daring dialogues, outstanding performances, and understated humor. The movie appears highly captivating and unique in its method of providing entertainment.

Bobby Deol is working with director Anurag Kashyap for the first time, taking on a distinctly unconventional role in an Anurag Kashyap film, providing the unique entertainment we have been anticipating.

As we watch Bobby Deol take on a completely different character following his blockbuster success with Animal and The Ba***ds of Bollywood, he is undoubtedly excelling. He seems intelligent, charismatic, and perfectly attuned to the chaos that envelops his character. Observing him coming with Anurag Kashyap for the first time is pure delight.

In just minutes of the trailer, the man we find amusing transforms into the man in prison. The smile sours. The clapping ceases. The enclosure shuts. The remarkable presence of skilled performers such as Sanya Malhotra, Raj B Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Riddhi Sen, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajeet, and Nagesh Bhonsle contributes a distinctive appeal to it. Motivated by true occurrences. Located within a system that doesn’t always function accurately.

The trailer release has taken social media by storm. Here’s what netizens are sharing:

A netizen wrote, “Damn. Really going hard with this movie and it’s topic. It’ll be interesting though. Glad to see a real movie for adults after so long in india.

The post On ‘Bandar’ Trailer, Netizens Say, “Lord Bobby and Anurag Kashyap spicy combo”! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

After leaving the nation talking with its explosive teaser, the makers of Bandar have finally unveiled the trailer, and it takes you deeper into its world filled with twists, bold dialogues, amazing performances, and subtle humour. The film looks extremely engaging and unconventional in its approach to entertainment. With Bobby Deol collaborating with director Anurag Kashyap for the very first time, the actor has stepped into a truly unconventional role in an Anurag Kashyap film, delivering the kind of one-of-a-kind entertainment we have been waiting for.

The trailer of Bandar dropped today, and in 2 minutes and a half, it does what most Hindi films take an entire first half to do: pull you in, knock you sideways, and refuse to tell you who to root for. While we see Bobby Deol attempting a very different role after his superhit streak with Animal and The Ba***ds of Bollywood, he is absolutely killing it. He appears smart, charming, and completely in sync with the madness surrounding his character. Watching him step into Anurag Kashyap’s world of storytelling is sheer joy.

Moreover, the trailer of Bandar keeps you hooked from start to finish. Anurag Kashyap, working with Bobby Deol for the first time, gives him space most directors never have. He uses every inch of it. He plays, a once-famous star coasting on the last fumes of relevance. Cocky on stage. Lonely off it. Swiping right on women whose names he won’t remember. Until a name comes back, and a case follows. Within minutes of the trailer, the man we’re laughing with becomes the man behind bars. The grin curdles. The applause stops. The cage closes. The striking presence of talented actors like Sanya Malhotra, Raj B Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Riddhi Sen, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajeet, and Nagesh Bhonsle adds a unique charm to it. Inspired by real events. Set inside a system that doesn’t always get it right.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the team behind Paatal Lok, Kohrra and Udta Punjab, Bandar is the kind of film Anurag Kashyap built his name making. Dark, unflinching, morally slippery. Not interested in telling you what to think. Very interested in making sure you can’t look away.

Bandar is written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the acclaimed duo behind Paatal Lok, Kohra, and Udta Punjab. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and backed by Zee Studios, Bandar releases in cinemas worldwide on 5th June 2026.
