After the warm reception she received for her OTT series ‘#Asur’ and ‘#TheMarriedWoman’ both of which won her performances praise, #RidhiDogra recently ushered in a new phase in her career as she made her big Bollywood debut with ‘#Lakadbaggha’.

It’s been a whirlwind couple of months for the actress who after the series ‘Pitchers 2’ showcased her potential on the big screen with ‘Lakadbaggha’ that highlights underground illegal animal trade. Ridhi has been winning praise for her role in the film and after the positive reception and a noteworthy movie debut, the actress penned a heartfelt note on social media.

Taking to her social media to talk about her first film, Ridhi said, “‘Ridhi it’s your first film, how does it feel ?’ And I always ask myself wow Ridhi how does it feel to be asked this question?! To see myself on the big screen, to hear my voice coming out of those speakers gave me a feeling that still hasn’t sunk in. I am very hard on myself and I take too long to celebrate my victories. From the outside it looks like a victory. For me it’s a push to do more and do better next time. Yet the victory is personal. I guess so is the celebration. I feel blessed. I feel the power of manifestation. I feel like my angels and my soul guides must be celebrating for me right now. Because this journey of mine is only between me and them. I live for experiences. I live for the moment. And I feel utterly grateful to the entire team of Lakadbaggha helmed by @theanshumanjha @first_ray_films I am so happy to be a part of and to support them. In a world where business rules cinema I want to be a part of cinema in that business. And to do a film for the love of something bigger than me. Animals. Humanity. I couldn’t have asked for a better first film. Our film is being loved and appreciated by audiences, critics, animals lovers or not. And I want to ask you all to go see my first film in the theatre and perhaps make my victory your own by seeing one of your own making it on the big screen.”

Adding a special mention of all the support she received from the world of television she said, “I’m already grateful for the army of loyal and loving supporters Television has given me. It’s been such a comfortable environment working on every set and specially in ‘Jawan’ with Shahrukh Khan. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love, admire and respect him. I have grown up admiring him as a person over and above him as an actor, and to interact with him in person, to shoot with him, discuss scenes with him is such beyond surreal. I say it with a sense of honor ‘there is my life before I shot with SRK and a life the day after I did.’ Also, since he is from Delhi, I felt quite at ease around him and speaking to him. His sense of humour is distinct Delhiite sense of humour, also he has a way of putting you at ease and making you feel comfortable in his presence.

Ridhi Dogra will be marking her debut as a lead in Lakadabaggha which is a story about an ordinary boy on an extraordinary mission – to fight against the illegal animal trade industry. Apart from that, on the work front, Ridhi Dogra will also be seen in Pitchers 2, Jawan, and Tiger 3.

“Firstly, I don’t think I will ever get bored of this profession because I’m still at the beginning of my career, and have a long way to go. I try to pick roles which are different so that I don’t get bored. I have done positive roles, and characters with grey shades. Currently, I’m doing comedy as well. I believe that if you love what you are doing you will never get bored. This is a creative field. If you are doing the same thing, playing the same character day in and day out, it becomes a different lifestyle as you’re living that character. So after a 12-hour shift when you come back to yourself, there you get a break. Also, I try and make sure not to repeat myself as far as characters are concerned. And if two characters have some similarity, I feel, then I add little nuances here and there to make things stand out,” he says.

Jay believes that an actor’s work never stops. They have to be observant. Observing different characters around us, and trying to adapt in a given situation helps artists to develop their craft.

“If you’re playing a character and you feel that there are few elements missing in that, it’s up to you as an actor, to find out what changes you can bring in that particular character. You can discuss it with the team and take it ahead. This is the first time I’m doing a comic thing and to give you an example, my director Jeetu Arora (Apnapan) helps me with the one liners, guides me and whenever I share my inputs, he listens to them and even incorporates whenever he finds it suitable. So it’s fun working with him and the team,” he says.

Jay recalls an incident that happened when he was working on the show Mere Sai. He faced a lot of problems because the language used in the show was a mix of Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu.

“I had a habit of thinking and understanding scenes in English. So every time I faced the camera, I used to get confused. And our director Sachin Amre sir was very strict on the language, and the way the character speaks. So, I had to work extra hard. It was amazing to work with him as after that show my Hindi got much better. I think as an actor, you have to be selfish to improve yourself. I am selfish when it comes to taking feedback, doing more work and all,” he adds with a smile.

So what are the three tips you want to give to upcoming actors? “When I started back in 2018, I thought for an actor, basic understanding of the camera, profiles, and acting techniques are enough. But, it requires much more to be a good performer. I’m not saying that you have to do a theatre workshop or so but you should have basic knowledge of acting to begin with. You should be able to understand the scenes, ready to adapt, open to ideas. You also have to have a knowledge of story writing as well,” he ends.

Gaurav first piled on the pounds for ‘Asur’ and then shed it down to a chiselled physique for his role in the turbulent love drama ‘Aadha Ishq’.

While hitting the gym with a vengeance and being passionate about fitness is in the actor’s blood given that he is one of the country’s biggest and most successful models, what made it challenging for Gaurav was the fact that he all suffered several injuries through this transformative journey.

Says Gaurav Arora, “This was a crazy transformation for me. I’ve always been a fitness enthusiast and to gain that weight for Asur really took its toll on me. Through this journey of gaining and then shedding the pounds for ‘Aadha Ishq’ I also suffered 2 slip discs and 3 ligament tears which made it even more challenging. But as they say the show must go on and I powered through it.”
