Prateik Chaudhary plays struggling actor in ‘Becharey’!

Cine Reporter — Mon, 05 Apr 2021 09:12:48 +0000

Prateik Chaudhary, who will be seen playing a struggling actor in web-show “Becharey”, says it was a challenging yet interesting role, for this character The actor, best known for “Paramavtar Shri Krishna” is hopeful the audience will find his new show interesting.

According to Prateik, for the role of Vicky, a struggling actor, the makers were scouting for actors who have good comic timing. Talking about his role, he says, “The character of Vicky is opposite of me. He’s a Bhojpuri guy, who is a struggler, big fan of Ravi Kishan and wants to become an actor. Playing this character was really challenging and interesting for me. I also had to gain weight, to fit into the character, i always had a lean muscular body but just for the character, I gained little weight to give proper justice to the character.” The series directed by Kranti Pratap Singh will be released on MX Player. The show is presented by Colourblindentertainment.

Having acted on both the mediums – TV and OTT, Prateik says for him the story and the team matters the most, irrespective of the medium. “If the story and everything is good I don’t mind doing TV or web or exploring any other platform. I believe both TV and OTT are totally different from each other. On television there’s a limitation about many things. Censorship is there and because of that there are family based shows,” he says. While, on the web, Prateik says one can attempt several things as per the demand of the character and story.

“To do justice to the character, one can experiment things without any limitation. In ‘Becharey’ I got complete freedom from my director to explore my character Vicky,” he says, adding, as an actor he enjoys being part of both the platforms.

Prateik says as an actor he is open to the idea of doing anything and everything on the screen, including intimate scenes if I like the story and the team. “I don’t think anyone should be judged on doing intimate scenes or any other scene, not only men but even women. No one should be judged, because it’s just the character he or she is playing as per the demand of the story,” he concludes.

Pratick Chaudharry doesn’t approve of below the belt comedy

CineBuster Online | Updated — Wed, 06 Jan 2021 12:28:42 +0000

“Paramavatar Shri Krishna” actor Pratick Chaudharry is seen as Vicky in web series “Becharey”. This is the first time the young actor is doing comedy on-screen and feels that there is a difference between being funny and nonsensical.

He says, “There’s a thin line between genuine comedy and vulgarity, and I think comedy is all about making everyone happy. The lockdown and the ongoing pandemic have made people’s lives very stressful, but I promise that our show will bring a smile on their face. That in itself will be our biggest achievement,” he said.

He adds, “However, I feel we should also see that we are not hurting anyone’s sentiments by doing vulgar or cheap comedy. We should not cross the limit in the name of comedy and hurt someone’s sentiments, religion, caste or sex.”

Pratick confesses that it was challenging for him to do comedy, and adds, “It was my first time, and I feel if you are doing comedy, you need to have the perfect comic timing. But I believe I did justice to the character and hope that people love it.”

He further reveals that he will happily choose the comedy genre no matter which platform it is, and feels that it’s not difficult for people who are good at it.

“I think it’s all about your interest and forte. People who are good at doing comedy, it’s not very much difficult for them. Though it was a little challenging for me because I was playing such a character for the first time, I guess I really enjoyed it and you can say it’s one of my fortes,” Pratick says.

Who are your favourite comedians? “There are so many that it’s going to be a long list. Paresh Rawal, Kader Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz, and many more. We all have grown up seeing them and laughing at their funny antics. If I can do even 10 percent of comedy, it is because of them,” Pratick says.

Talking about his character, Pratick said, “My character is called Vicky. He is just the opposite of me. He is a Bhojpuri guy, who is a struggler and a big fan of Ravi Kisan. For my character, our director was looking for a super funny guy with good comic timing, so it was a little challenging for me to play Vicky, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The young actor has been a part of the TV show “Paramavatar Shri Krishna”, and now that he has done OTT, he feels TV has many restrictions.

“On television, there is a limitation of many things. Censorship is there and because of that, you only see family-based shows on TV. But on the web, we can explore many things, we can experiment with the character without any limitation, and thus can give justice to the character. So, in ‘Becharey’ I got total freedom from my director to explore the character of Vicky,” he said.

He shared that his close one loved the show, and he is hopeful of getting a similar reaction from the audience.

“The show will leave you in splits. My family and friends have enjoyed the show and they can’t keep calm. I am sure the audience will love it too, and it will definitely bring a smile on their face,” Pratick signed off.

Pratick Chaudharry on Censorship, ‘How bold is too bold varies and is subjective’

CineBuster Online | Updated — Thu, 10 Dec 2020 13:00:57 +0000

Pratick Chaudharry, who is known for his role of Arjuna in the show Paramavatar Shri Krishna, will soon be seen in the web series Becharey. The actor says that while he loves the content on the web these days, he feels that the language can get very abusive at times. “In Becharey, I am playing the main lead Vicky who is a struggling Bhojpuri actor. I have seen many Bhojpuri films so picking up lingo was easy. OTT is the next big thing now. All actors want to do OTT as well and I am no exception,” he says. Adding further “It is safe to say that there is some mind-blowing content on all OTT platforms. We can see some great performances. But I feel that there are a lot of abusive words in most of these shows. What’s worse is that most of these words are used at places where they are not even needed. So yes, I do feel that some kind of censorship should be there. Audiences are exposed to the Internet but still, we need to be careful. How bold is too bold also varies and is subjective.”

As of now, Pratick wants to focus on evolving his craft and talent. “I guess it’s every actor’s dream to do a big banner movie. I also want to be part of films but currently, I am focusing more on the web and television. I want to grow and evolve in my craft first, then step into films. That’s why I am also doing theatre from the past two years. I would suggest this to all the new actors as well… keep polishing, working on your craft and there is no better way to do this than joining theatre or practising monologues. An actor has to be a complete package. Diktha Hai toh bikta hai. I feel PR is very important for an actor’s career. Just being talented isn’t enough as talent has to be showcased nicely,” he says.

Coming from a Marwari family, Pratick had to condition himself to be an actor. But he is glad that he got to follow his dream. “I come from a Marwari family. I have been born and brought up in Mumbai itself. The city has its own vibes and energy and makes you self-sufficient. Marwaris are big-time foodies and I am proud to be a Marwari. So, after my graduation, I joined my dad’s business. But, last year, I felt like I am meant for something else, and I really wanted to do something else. So, destiny played a role and here I am. I always wanted to be an actor but didn’t know how to go about it. I started going for auditions and got the first break. My family has always supported me in following my dream of becoming an actor. All I can say is that where ever I am today is all because of my family. Life is all about loving your family as Karan Johar always says. Family’s consent is necessary for sure,” he says.
