27-year-old Surabhi Geetey, Product Manager at an online shopping website, would be taking her place on the hotseat on Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati- Season 14’ on 19th October, Wednesday. Seated opposite Mr Amitabh Bachchan, she would be revealing that she is his friend of many years, surprising the host when she would show her proof of their friendship.

Showing a picture from 2001, Surabhi would be sharing with the host memories of ‘KBC Juniors’ when her sister had taken part in the show and she had come as a companion. That time, Mr Bachchan had told her that they are best friends and also, hilariously, to find out who stole her front two teeth which were missing. This sweet trip down memory lane would greatly entertain the audience and make the host overwhelmed.

The contestant would also call herself to be a self-professed fan of Agatha Christie, invoking a story from Mr Bachchan when he was part of a school play that was the staging of ‘And Then There Were None. Unfortunately on D-day, he fell sick with measles and his father catered to him in the hospital, sitting beside him and consoling him. A word of advice that Big B would say still rings true for him today is “mann ka ho toh acha, na ho toh aur bhi acha” which can be translated to “if what happens is according to how you wanted it, good but if it does not, still good”, meaning if something happens which you do not agree to, then that is what was always anyway supposed to happen.

Surabhi would also talk about her love for podcasts and how they accompany her during her travel. She would be talking about Big B’s granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast ‘What The Hell Navya’ and how she enjoys the episodes. Following this, she herself would turn into a podcast interviewer, taking on Mr Bachchan as her interviewee and asking him questions about different subjects like mental health and work-life balance.

Talking about her experience in the show she says, “I cannot still fathom the fact that I was a part of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati- Season 14’. I felt like my dreams came true the moment I sat on the hotseat. It was such an overwhelming experience and I will always remember the moments to be some of my most cherished. Sitting opposite Mr Bachchan was an ecstatic moment. The honour was mine that I was able to interview him on matters so close to the hearts of the youth and that he gave such sincere answers was the highlight. If he comes to Bhopal I will definitely take him to some of the most famous eateries in the city and have him experience delicacies like daal baafla and samosa kachodi. The thrilling game would be preceded by many amazing conversations, one of which would also entail Mr Amitabh Bachchan’s stories of how the iconic film ‘Sholay’ was filmed.

Mr Bachchan would be enthraling the audience by telling them stories from the sets of ‘Sholay’, how Ramesh Sippy, the director of the film had chosen a flower valley instead of a more desert-like location for a film that was “dacoit-inspired” by the concept. He would also talk about how Dharmendra Ji would often share a car and play Rumi going to and fro the hotel, with Dharmendra Ji also sometimes choosing to stay back at the village and sleep there when there was an early morning shoot call. Big B would also talk about getting foreign stunt directors for the first time to help with the stunts.

Concluding the tales of Sholay, a source close to the set said that Mr Bachchan spoke about why he limps still, “In the earlier days people did not know about these safety precautions and they, the actors, including Mr Bachchan would get injured almost every time they would be shooting. Their knees and their back would all be scraped up. He said that he still limps because of his injuries in past. They don’t get hurt now because of the new safety precautions as contractually, the producer makes sure that any dangerous stunts are not performed by the actors. He went on to say there still are many actors who do their stunts. Many times, they are told not to but they do not listen. He gave the example of Akshay Kumar and how he is a passionate actor, he will jump from one building to the other or light himself on fire, and Big B would ask him, “what are you doing? and why? but Akshay Ji would say “no no sir, don’t worry”. He did his stunts during ‘Waqt’, which he filmed with Amitabh sir.”
