He was very clear on making this the best dance song. “The energy comes from the music. We cast Shweta Sharda, who is a brilliant dancer, as the lead. With her and the amazing dancers, I went all out. According to him, singer Sukh-E and Jaani’s lyrics have made it special.

“It’s a super addictive song. You can’t resist dancing the moment you hear Coco,” said the choreographer.

He came up with 5 different hook steps for this song. “I was excited while choreographing, so after a day’s rehearsal I decided to keep the one I thought would be good for everyone to relate to,” he said. He is 100 percent sure the track will become the next party song.

That moment was very special for him. “My respect for him just went up. We both danced to the song on stage. You can see in the video that he literally pushes me to go ahead of him and dance. That speaks about his personality as an artist. I’ve become a fan of Hardy Sandhu not because of what he did with me, but because he performed for two and a half hours and didn’t stop even when it was raining,” he said.

The song was their first collaboration. “He knew me and was very excited to work with me. During rehearsals, I had promised him not to worry and that I would make him look good. I think now the association has become very strong,” said Rajit.

The song bijlee has become the flavour of the season, and he feels very good and blessed that he got those moves at the right time for the right song. “It took me 15 minutes to crack the hook step. The song was so catchy that steps kept flowing with it,” he said.

He grew up watching the best music videos on MTV, Channel V and Vh1. “Nowadays, music videos can show you a film in 5 minutes, so yes it’s a great way to explore. For me, everything depends on what the song is. If it’s a dance number, the steps have to be right. The visuals and story have to be perfect. I just make sure that after watching the song, one should get something out of it,” he said.

Speaking of which Rajit says,” We shot Bijlee Bijlee in Moscow in September. I got to travel abroad after the lockdown so this itself was a great thing. The experience was great. Our director sent me the song and explained his story line. That was enough for me to get into the groove. I decided to make the steps easier so didn’t focus on a particular style. I wanted Harrdy to look cool and he’s done it very nicely. It was Palak Tiwari’s debut in a music video so we did rehearse with both of them for 3 days and she was a pleasant surprise. I must say she is very talented.”

Speaking about his association with the director Arvindr Rajit says,”I think this is the 4th video with Arvindr . He’s a very easy person to work with and what I like about him is the clarity in his storytelling. The best part of our association is he always has ears for my ideas and goes with my instincts. That probably makes us a great team. I’m really glad that people are loving the video and I see a lot of reels being made on our music video. Also It was an honour to work with Harrdy Sandhu he is definitely an amazing singer,. He’s got the cool moves and is a great actor. Both Harrdy and Palak has created great chemistry on screen.”

So when will we see Rajit directing a music video on his own? “Well I keep getting songs to direct but I am waiting for the right song for which I can connect immediately with the melody and can create some great stuff. I am sure that will happen soon.”
