#ChefHarpalSinghSokhi has always been known for his vibrant personality and unique style that have made him one of India’s most loved celebrity chefs. He calls himself lucky that he is able to receive so much love from people, not just in India, but all around the world.

He said, “I keep hearing that my energy and my presence are infectious, and all I can say is that I feel blessed that people relate to me in that way. When they look at me, they feel happy, and I can only thank God for the blessings I’ve received. It’s truly amazing. When you start receiving fan mail from across the world, you realize how much responsibility you have.”

“You think, ‘Okay, let’s do more, let’s do better, let’s keep improving every day.’ It helps people, and it brings smiles to their faces. That’s how I keep thriving in my life. I feel like I need to do more and more to bring smiles to people, especially in a world that is so stressed right now. My shows, my face, and my smile bring happiness, and I just want to say, ‘Thank God,'” he added.

Chef Harpal feels blessed to be known as one of the first celebrity chefs in India, and there is no greater joy for him than to now become a household name. He said, “I can only say that the title of being the first celebrity chef has been a blessing for me. Now, people mention me as their favorite chef on television. All of this has happened because of the hard work I’ve put in, the homework I’ve done, and the support from my family. Everything has come together, including the blessings and support from my elders and those who have always loved me.”

“I believe I’ve always tried to give 100% in whatever I do. When I perform, I focus completely on that task and don’t think about anything else until I reach my goal. I believe that once I achieve a goal, I keep improving myself and looking for ways to do better. I would say that Laughter Chef is a show I actually watch. I have never watched my own television shows much. I hardly ever watch Turban Tadka, but I watched Laughter Chef regularly,” he added.

He also recalls how his signature catchphrase “namak shamak” started and said, “I remember, we were filming some content for my show Turban Tadka in Lonavala; my director Grish paused the shoot and asked, ‘How will people remember you?’ I had no answer. That evening, I picked up a book my daughter had recommended, and I landed on a chapter about the Salt Satyagraha. It hit me—salt, such a simple thing, had sparked a revolution.”

“In food, salt is just as essential. That thought led to ‘Namak Shamak.’ It became my identity—simple, memorable, and joyful. Today, it’s more than a phrase; it’s a movement that brings happiness to kitchens everywhere,” Chef Harpal ended.

From the soothing sip of morning chai to late-night conversations over a steaming cup, tea is more than just a beverage — it’s a tradition, a mood, and a moment of pause. Celebrated on May 21st, International Tea Day honors the cultural, emotional, and even medicinal significance of tea across the globe. Whether it’s the kadak masala chai of Indian households, herbal infusions for wellness, or classic English blends, tea brings people together in the simplest yet most comforting way. Today, as we raise our cups, celebrities too join in to share their personal chai stories, rituals, and that one perfect cup they can never resist

#RomiitRaaj : I love tea, and I start my day with masala tea. We have a very unique way of making it — we add tea leaves to boiling water and milk, and just let it be. It’s amazing with lemongrass and cardamom. My favorite tea memory is definitely from my childhood home in Kolkata — me, mom, and my brother Rohan having tea together in the morning. Sun rays would light up the living room as we sat there discussing and cherishing memories…

#ChefHarpalSinghSokhi : Tea is something I’ve grown up drinking, and Punjabi families are truly addicted to it. When I used to visit my Nani’s house in Punjab during the winters, she would serve tea in a brass glass early in the morning. We would end up drinking 3–4 cups! It’s such a cherished memory. Everything about tea is very close to Punjabi culture — whether it’s before breakfast, after breakfast, in the evening, or on any occasion. These days, there are a lot of tea varieties available, and personally, I love chamomile tea along with English Breakfast. Sometimes, I make my own tea with a unique blend: it has turmeric, roasted cumin, moringa, black salt, lemon, and ginger. I boil all of this, add a few tea leaves, strain it — and it’s so refreshing for me.

#MoonBanerrjee : I am a tea addict. No matter what, I need to have at least one cup of tea daily. Well, it’s our quintessential kadak chai. I try to avoid overly milky ones, but I like it strong — maybe with ginger at times. My favorite time of the day is tea time in the evening. I look forward to that one cup of satisfaction — only a true tea lover would understand what I mean. Of course, when I was in college, drives during the monsoon were planned only for chai and bhutta or wadas on the outskirts of Mumbai. I would love to meet Rabindranath Tagore for a cup of tea and request him to recite some of his incredible poems in Bangla.

#WorshipKhanna : I am a hard-core chai lover. I have a very bad habit — I need my morning tea in bed. I know this isn’t a great habit and I’ve been trying to change it, but honestly, I haven’t been able to yet. Every morning, I need my tea in bed. Until I have it, I don’t like to talk to anyone. If I end up talking to someone before having tea, it usually turns into a fight because I get very irritable. If I don’t get my tea, my day just doesn’t start. For me, a perfect cup of tea means sitting with my best friend, somewhere peaceful — like in the mountains or a cozy work spot — but never in a rush. I don’t like rushed, on-the-go tea. I don’t want tea just for the sake of it. I want to enjoy it peacefully, in a beautiful mug. One of my biggest quirks is that I get bored of mugs very quickly — I keep changing them. I have a habit of drinking tea in a new mug every other day.

#IndraxiKanjilal : I love making coffee or tea because it’s the easiest thing to make. I think the perfect cup of tea is when it’s raining outside, you’re at home with your family, watching something nice, and sipping tea. My mother makes really good tea. I only enjoy tea when it’s made at home — I don’t like tea that’s ordered from outside. When I was young, I used to live at my granny’s house most of the time. I loved it there. I’d always say, “I want to go to my granny’s house.” I spent more time there than at my own home. At 5 o’clock in the evening, my grannies would make tea — it was a daily ritual. Not just them, even I would get a cup because I liked acting like a grown-up. My two grannies, my mother, and I would sit on the ground and drink tea together. I would quietly listen to all their conversations while sipping mine. It’s a beautiful memory I still cherish. Today, the whole world seems to be getting into coffee culture, with very few people indulging in chai pe charcha — which used to be a vibrant part of every gully and nukkad. Sadly, humble tea is being overshadowed by the hot and happening coffee trend.

#RiddhimaSharma : I’m absolutely obsessed with tea, especially Masala Chai. My daily ritual is to wake up around 4 am, pray, and then indulge in a steaming cup of Masala Tea. It’s incredibly refreshing, especially when shared with my mother. One of my all-time favorite tea memories is imagining myself in Udaipur during the rainy season — my most loved city. There’s something magical about driving up to Sajjan Garh Palace, the way the road curves, the view gets better with every turn, and the clouds start rolling in. Once you’re at the top, you can see the whole city — lakes, hills, everything covered in mist. Sitting there with a hot cup of chai in hand, the smell of rain in the air, and the wind playing with your dupatta — it’s just… perfect. That’s the kind of tea memory that stays in your soul forever.

Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently seen in the show #LaughterChefs, has just launched the 11th outlet of his famous restaurant #Karigari in the heart of the capital at Connaught Place—and it’s already got the town buzzing. With successful Karigari outlets based in Noida, Faridabad, and Gurgaon, this new CP outlet is the latest feather in Chef Sokhi’s chef hat. The launch, that was held recently, was a grand affair, with none other than Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pravesh Verma doing the ribbon-cutting honours. This new establishment promises to deliver the same exceptional quality and inventive dishes that patrons have come to expect, all within a setting that celebrates the rich tapestry of Indian culture.

“Opening our 11th Karigari outlet in Connaught Place is not just a milestone; it’s a testament to our commitment to bringing innovative Indian cuisine to more people,” said Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi. “We aim to create not just meals, but memorable experiences that resonate with the soul of India.”

Karigari is founded by Yogesh Sharma and Manish Sharma. Their vision, combined with Chef Sokhi’s culinary expertise, has propelled Karigari to the forefront of India’s dining scene. The new outlet has some quirky, mouth-watering additions such as Flying Burgers (sealed burgers), Bun Kulfi, and the classic Kulfi Faluda. These additions reflect the brand’s dedication to reimagining traditional Indian fare with a modern twist.

Celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi believes that the genuine and unscripted nature of the #LaughterChef show is the reason for the massive success of its first season.

The second season of the Indian cooking-based show, the Laughter Chefs could be watched on Colors from January 25.

The show features celebrities cooking different dishes that are based on the criteria set by celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi. The dishes are later judged by celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi alongside comedian #BhartiSingh.

Chef Harpal believes that the show was a differentiator in the entertainment industry genre because it was genuine, unscripted, and gave freedom to the actors.

“I think we are all very happy that a show was created that acted as the differentiator and hence loved by people. This show has genuinity. This is what makes people happy. If a food is bad, then it is bad and good, if it is good. People ask us if the show is scripted. Maybe a small part is but the maximum part is unscripted. We do whatever we like. We are free people and we are free to do everything. It resulted in the success of the show.”

Actress #KashmeraShah, who has been part of the show since season one with her husband #Krushna Abhishek, also opened up on her thoughts and said she is happy with the success of Laughter Chefs.

“We are very excited with the second season. When a season goes well then it helps in the livelihood of many people. We get blessings. We became therapists for them. People love the show. They are laughing and it’s such a good thing,” she said.

“Nothing is scripted and everything is impromptu that’s why you see fumbling and overlapping in the show,” said Kashmera Shah.

The first season of Laughter Chefs starred Kashmera Shah, Krishna Abhishek, #AlyGoni, #RahulVaidya, #AnkitaLokhande, #VickyJain, #ArjunBijlani, #KaranKundra, #SudeshLehri and #NiaSharma among others.

The second season will mark the entry of new celebrities which includes #ManaraChopra, #SamarthJurel, #AbhishekKumar, #RubinaDilaik, #AbduRozik and #ElvishYadav.
