#NushrrattBharuccha opens up on her film #Chhalaang as the film completes one year, says, “I wanted to break the conventional mould and try something different and deliver my best at it.”

2020’s one of the breakthrough performances belonged to Nushrratt Bharuccha who played the role of small town girl in the Hansal Mehta directorial Chhalaang. The film required the actress to take up the role of a Haryanvi teacher and the actress managed to nail her performance in the film which has now clocked a year. Throwing some light on the film the actress has now opened up on the film that won her lot of fan and critic’s unanimous appreciation.

Recalling her experiences, Nushrratt shared, “Chhalaang completes one year, and I’m gratified to see praises still flowing it’s way from the lovely audience. As an actor, I have always aspired to bring to the table, something that is completely new and exciting. Having tried my hands in quirky comedy genres earlier, with Chhalaang I wanted to break the conventional mould and try something different and deliver my best at it. Thanks to Hansal Mehta Sir for guiding me on set and nurturing me as an actor and ofcourse Rajkumaar for being such a wonderful co-star, it’s always fun to work with him.”

While the actress’s raw and real performance was much loved by the audiences, the film also received critical acclaim. The actress recently also bagged a nomination at the Busan International film festival for the best actress award for her role in the anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans.

Nushrratt’s lineup currently features ‘Chhorri’, ‘Hurdang’, ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’, ‘Ram Setu’ and an unnamed project, as she makes it 5 films between now and 2022.

‘Chhalaang’ girl Nushrratt Bharruccha is now a “Chhorii”

After giving a remarkable performance in recently released Chhalang’, Nushrratt Bharruccha has already started shoot her next, Chhorii, which is a remake of multi awards winning Marathi film ‘Lapachhapi’.

After their announcement in May this year, Abundantia Entertainment and Crypt TV’s maiden joint venture Chhorii has just gone on floors. Joining hands with them is T-series, India’s leading movie studio and largest music label that has recently come on-board for the film.

Headlined by Nushrratt Bharuccha, Chhorii commenced filming today in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh (MP). This is a start-to-finish filming schedule and the unit will film all through December across Madhya Pradesh, with a few days to be shot subsequently in Mumbai is the film’s final schedule.

Chhorii is a horror film that’s anchored in a strong social message. The film comprises a strong ensemble, with actors Mita Vasisht, Rajesh Jais, and Saurabh Goyal playing pivotal parts. The film is directed by Vishal Furia, whose debut Marathi film ‘Lapachappi’ won several domestic and international awards.

The film is being shot at live locations in the interiors of MP. These locations include dense sugarcane fields and rustic villages that add to the overall scare quotient of the film. In addition, an elaborate set has been constructed to recreate typical village dwellings. The filming kicked-off after the traditional Indian mahurat puja which was attended by the entire unit.

Much like their Vidya Balan starrer Sherni, Abundantia Entertainment on this production too has put in place elaborate health and safety measures to manage and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 on location and within the crew. These include compulsory usage of PPE suits, face masks, frequent sanitization, and temperature checks as well as blood oxygen level checks.

In addition, isolation and quarantine measures have also been put in place on standby. A specialist agency has been hired to manage all of the above and a detailed briefing session was conducted a day ahead of the start of filming to familiarize the crew with all these measures.
