Mumbai, 10^th March, 2021: Actors generally tend to challenge themselves by taking up characters completely opposite to their real selves. But sometimes they like to be in a comfort zone and enjoy every bit of a character very similar to their personality. Chhavi Pandey, who is currently seen in Dangal TV’s Prem Bandhan as Janaki is completely in love with her character because they are very similar in terms of personality.

When asked how much the character has impacted her, Chhavi says, “Janaki is a character that I have never played before and something I always wanted to do. She is very similar to me and very real to the point that it doesn’t look like I am pretending or even acting to be someone else. She is very compromising, loving, caring for her family, has a very strong self-respect and is a self-made person. And these are things I find in myself also. I have gotten a chance to perform very naturally and convey the message with ease through this character. But there were times that I had to put in the work for some scenes and even that has impacted me so much that there is behavioral change in me off-screen as well. I am glad I grabbed this opportunity with both my hands and can’t wait to further go through the ups and downs of the story along with Janaki.”

Not only her, the audience also feels very connected to the character and relate to her. No wonder everyone roots to see Janaki and Harsh together.

Chhavi Pandey hurt herself on the set of Prem Bandhan

Lately, we see that Dangal TV’s Prem Bandhan is going through some high-altitude drama with strong emotions and intense actions. This is keeping its vast audience base hooked to the storyline. But shooting highly dramatic scenes sometimes also leads to accidents.

And shooting highly dramatic scenes sometimes also leads to accidents. One such incident took place on the sets of Dangal TV’s Prem Bandhan. There was a sequence when Rajesh played by Vineet Kumar Chaudhary was trying to hurt Harsh played by Manit Joura in a bathtub and threaten him to stay away from Janki aka Chhavi Pandey. The scene required Janki to save Harsh from Rajesh. It was during this time that Rajesh’s elbow accidentally hit Chhavi on her throat.

Talking about the same, Chhavi Pandey says, “It was a close-up shot and Vineet’s back was facing me. So, when I was trying to save Manit from Vineet, he raised his hand and his elbow accidentally hit my throat. My throat went dry and eventually was swollen. I was not even able to speak. This happened when the shot was rolling and everything is actually captured on camera. I went to the doctor and he recommended a 5 days course of medication. I couldn’t shoot and that was the last shot of the day. So, we couldn’t complete the shoot that day. I decided to take a day’s break before I started shooting again. My team supported me immensely through this and took real good care of me. I am grateful to have such caring people around.”

We appreciate Chhavi’s dedication towards her work that she went back to work despite the pain.

I would like to do OTT and films in addition to TV, says Chhavi Pandey

Mumbai, 2nd February 2021: The digital space has become more prominent especially due to the pandemic. Actors are now embracing the digital space be it films, web series, TV shows. They like to keep challenging themselves with roles they have never done before and it’s safe to say there would be hardly any actor who won’t be willing to do web shows. In recent times, actress Chhavi Pandey who is presently seen in Dangal TV’s latest show Prem Bandhan says she would love to be part of web series, films and explore something new as an actor.

Sharing more on this, Chhavi says, “I would like to be part of web shows, as I feel OTT platforms are part of the future. As an actor, one wants to grow and achieve further heights. While I do get to play diverse roles, but if you get stuck here, it becomes tough to break the mould. I would love to do films as well. I am hoping that I soon get a chance to play the right roles here. One doesn’t know; maybe Balaji may give me an opportunity if they like my work. But I am excited to see what the future holds.”

Seems like Chhavi is warming up with the idea of doing films and shows in digital space and is ready and willing to experiment with the new challenges that digital platforms have to offer.

It felt like Goddess Durga took over me: Chhavi Pandey

Sometimes, the scenes are light hearted and easy going. But sometimes, the scenes are so intense that the actor actually gets emotional in the process of performing it. One such situation took place on the sets of Dangal TV’s Prem Bandhan, when a scene demanded Chhavi Pandey aka Janki to get into a whole new element to protect her family from a bunch of goons. Eventually, according to Chhavi, it was really Goddess Durga, the goddess who represents war, strength and protection that really took over her during this scene.

Talking about the experience of shooting the sequence, Chhavi says, “The scene was very intense and filled with multiple emotions. I already knew I had to give my everything for this sequence and when the director said ‘Action!’ all my emotions just poured out. It is very true that one can do anything to save their family, and I felt this while playing my character. I am glad the scene captured the essence of the character’s emotions so perfectly as even I feel no one should let anything wrong happen to them or their family and should always stand for themselves. And the best part was, it portrayed Goddess Durga that according to me is hidden in everyone. And I loved performing it.”

Prem Bandhan has been garnering a lot of love from the audience for the tremendous acting of the stars and a very never-seen-before story line.

Tell us about the show.

Prem Bandhan is an intriguing story of righteous and ethical girl Janki Srivastav, who shoulders the sole responsibility of her family. She is at a crossroad when she agrees to marry Harsh Shashtri, who has a mysterious past. The title of the show is ‘Prem Bandhan’. The viewers will get to watch something different as this show has a different concept. It is a different love story and it’s not a regular love story where the hero, heroine meet and fall in love.

Please tell about your role in the show.

My character’s name is Janki. She is a very simple and loving girl yet strong and independent. She belongs to a middle-class family and has a lot of responsibilities of her family but never cribs about it. She can do anything to make her family happy. In spite of her background, she has worked hard to get a job in one of the biggest mobile companies of the country. Her character I feel will be very relatable to the girls in these small towns.

How was it to associate with Ekta Kapoor ma’am?

Every actor dream to be a part of a Balaji Telefilms production. And I did too. It’s been almost 8 years since I have been in this industry and this is the first time, I am getting an opportunity to work with Ekta ma’am and also with Dangal TV. I was initially very nervous to meet her but she is a very sweet person. I am grateful that Ekta ma’am and Dangal TV have given me an opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful show.

The show is set in Darbhanga. Tell us how you are feeling about it?

I won’t lie but one of the reasons I was excited to be a part of Prem Bandhan was that it was based in Bihar. The setting, dialogues, costumes, everything just feels like home. When I moved to Bombay, I used to address myself as ‘Hum’ and not ‘Mein’. But it was a very alien concept for the Mumbaikars. But this show allows me to get back to my roots and call myself Hum. And I am loving it.

I would urge my fans to always wear a mask and also watch our show Prem Bandhan on Dangal TV. I assure you once you start watching, you’ll love it and only want more from it. And I thank them for all the constant love and support they have given me.

That’s how I keep my love for music alive. Also, low-key hoping that someone notices and gives me a singing opportunity too. (laughs) Well, I believe one should not stop doing something they love whether or not they are going about it professionally.”
