Share The Load’s actor Ashlesha Sawant says, “Today an actor doesn’t really need to be limited to a certain medium to excel”!

#AshleshaSawant starrer ‘#ShareTheLoad’ has crossed four million hits. The short film is streaming on ‘#ContentKaKeeda’, a platform run by #ShivankarArora and #ShipraArora, who have produced the project. While Shivankar is also the director of the film, Shipra has penned the narrative. The actor is on cloud nine given the love and appreciation the film has received.

“I am very happy that my short film has crossed four million hits. It was a very unique concept with age, old, aggressive Saas-bahu drama which is a reality too–NOT CLEAR. This is a story about relationships set in the backdrop of an urban city. This is about a couple who share their work and loads together. By sharing the load, I mean that they share the life they had wanted to live along with the kids and their family. I liked how it portrayed the challenges faced by a working woman and how the mother-in-law stood by her side throughout making her son understand how much he needs to be involved,” she says.

Ashlesha totally relates to the concept. “It’s actually the fault of the mothers of this country that they don’t bring up their son properly. I think they love their sons so much that they forget that they have been through the challenges of being a daughter or a sister or a daughter-in-law themselves. This needs to change, irrespective of one’s gender, everyone will have to share the workload, which includes taking care of their babies to helping in the household chores. I don’t see that in India. My sister and brother-in-law stay in the US and I see them share their workload at home, even though both are busy with their individual jobs. If there’s a party my brother-in-law takes care of with my sister but I can’t relate to it because I’ve not seen this happen much in India, it’s very rare here,” she adds. Sharing her take on relationships, the actor thinks that relationships workout when energies match. And, when it does not it leads to conflicts and breaks the bond. “I just feel that the fewer complications, the better the relationship is. And that is only possible if there is understanding and love,” she says.

Meanwhile, Ashlesha is also a part of Anupamaa. She plays the role of Barkha Kapadia in the hit show. In fact, her performance in it has also grabbed eyeballs. “I am thankful for all the love… It’s a very big show, it’s the most watched show so I really can’t take the credit for it, I just joined the show a couple of months back. I’m happy to be doing my job well and that I’m a part of such an amazing journey. The rest is up to God. I only have gratitude for everything I have,” she smiles. So, what are her career plans? “I want to do a lot of work in all the mediums. I’m very happy that there are barriers being broken in terms of content and medium-related divisions. Today an actor or a creative person doesn’t really need to be limited to a certain medium to excel and showcase their talent so I’m very thankful to be working in such times. I want to make the most of this time and explore the artist in myself to the fullest,” she ends.

In order to celebrate the occasion the brother sister duo threw a bash at The Little Door, Andheri which was attended by a lot of actors. Actors who attended the bash included Rushad Rana and Ketki, Maninee De, Ritu Chaudhary Seth, Richa Sony, Sai Deodhar with husband Shakti Anand, Sana Amin Sheikh, Sandeep Anand, Nilu Kohli, Mitali Ojha, Rajesh khera, Chaitanya Chaudhary, Manmohan Tiwari, Saloni Daini, Rini Das and Ankit Shah.

Shivankar says, It was a very joyous occasion for all of us. We ensure that every short film is different in the subject. I direct with passion ensuring the quality of the content. I’m grateful to our loyal audience.” Shipra adds, “I as a writer and producer always look for new ideas and stories. We always get very good feedback from our subscribers and I always make an effort to surpass their expectations.

All the actors had a blast at the bash. They enjoyed the starters followed by the scrumptious dinner. A delicious cake was cut and a lot of actors were seen dancing to Bollywood songs.

Shipra Arora explains ‘What Is Anxiety’

Shipra Arora’s short film, What is Anxiety, which can be viewed on her YouTube Channel Content Ka Keeda, was challenging. The producer has also written the film and admits to going through a low phase while working on it.

“I got anxiety while writing the short film. Thankfully, I have never experienced mental health issues. Of course, we humans always experience insecurities. We all go through ups and downs of emotions. Also, the lockdown affected many people. So many of my friends, including myself, was feeling low. Hence, I decided to write a short film on anxiety.

Not having much knowledge about the subject, I was really scared. I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I wanted it to be perfect. So I did a lot of research. I watched many movies on the same subject. Talked to many friends of mine who have been kind enough to share their feelings with me. But then I guess, the universe wanted me to go through anxiety before I wrote about it!,” she says, adding, “This script took me a month to write. I had many fights with my brother, Shivankar while writing. We were at loggerheads. I went through uncomfortable emotions. I was at my lowest point and for the first time in my life, I felt alone. It was scary but I guess if I wouldn’t have gone through this, I wouldn’t have been able to write the script. It’s my favorite movie on my channel Content ka Keeda.”

In fact, Shipra belives that it isn’t possible to write about anything without feeling it. “I feel one can’t write if it’s isn’t coming from the heart. I believe writing comes from the soul. I wouldn’t speak for others, we all use different tools to write. But for me, the subject I am writing about affects my mood in a big way,” she says.

Meanwhile, Shipra urges people to talk about their mental issues openly. “If we meet with an accident, we are not scared to mention it. We go straight to the hospital, we tell everyone about it. But we are so afraid to mention mental health issues. We need to be open about it. Please seek help! Share your feelings. Don’t be afraid to share about mental health problems,” she says.

The story centres around an innocent wish of a daughter that her father, a single parent, should find love and be happy! She loves her teacher and thinks that she is best suited for her father.

The film beautifully showcases the selfless and unconditional love that a child has for her father. The pure bond that is untouched by worldly and materialistic desires and selfish gains. Children usually ask for toys and chocolates from Santa Claus, but here, this little one asks for happiness for her father.

Starring Rishina Kandhari and Chaitanya Choudhary, the film has an amazing screenplay. The performances of both actors are brilliant. Chaitanya Choudhry says, ‘“Hamari Christmas” talks about hope, love and wishes come true’!

Actor Chaitanya Choudhry, who is part of Hamari Christmas, a film by YouTube channel Content Ka Keeda’s Shipra and Shivankar Arora, says that he loved being part of the project. The actor says that he loved working with both Shipra and Shivankar on the project. “The film is unique because it talks about hope, love and wishes come true – that’s what the world needs right now. It was fantastic working with both Shivankar and Shipra again. Shivankar was the DOP on my show Uttaran and Shipra was my creativity in my first show Kahin To Hoga,” he says, adding, “I love their working style and they made us all feel very comfortable,” he says. Chaitanya has been seen in another short film with RJ Karan Singh.

In fact, Chaitanya shares the screen with Rishina Kandhari in the film, who he has also worked with before. “I had worked with her in Aahat and then in Uttaran, though we never shot together in Uttaran. She is a fantastic actress and is really involved in the craft. It was awesome doing this film with her,” he says.

Ask him about the significance of Christmas in his life, and he says, “It’s always been very special for me since my childhood – receiving gifts and the Christmas parties. It’s my yearly ritual to go to Mount Mary Church on Christmas Eve.”

Talking about how 2020 went for him, Chaitanya says, “Well, my year was full of personal development. I am waiting for work to start again. I am really happy to start work, I was missing being in front of the camera. From the next year, I am hoping that the pandemic ends or we get a vaccination. Secondly, I am hoping to do some amazing work across all platforms this year.”

He adds, “I just want to concentrate on work that really keeps me happy and motivated.”

‘Content Ka Keeda’ rises from 1000 subscribers to 30,000 in just a year

While this year has been harsh on all of us due to the pandemic, it did bring some hope and sunshine in Shivankar Arora and his sister Shipra’s Arora’s lives. The brother-sister duo started their own YouTube channel Content Ka Keeda, which has grown immensely. “This year is lucky for me as I started my own YouTube channel Content Ka Keeda. Initially, where we struggled to get our first 1,000 subscribers, now we have crossed 30,000 subscribers and we are growing as we speak. The lockdown was tough but my Channel made me get up every day and work hard. While we were all struggling during the lockdown, Shipra and I made sure to post one video every week, no matter what and that’s what kept us going,” he says.

Shivankar feels privileged to have got this time to work on his skills as well. “During my time at home, I really concentrated on scriptwriting and editing. I never knew I could do any of those things but due to Covid-19 and limited resources, I had to learn. Now it has turned into my new found passion,” he says.

The channel has a lot of noteworthy content and has garnered a lot of praise. In fact, their short film, Love Knows No Gender, even bagged a lot of awards, which was the highlight of Shivankar’s year. “Winning awards for our film Love Knows No Gender was one of our biggest achievements. As of now, we have 13 awards and have crossed 5.5 lakh views on our channel in less than 15 days!” he exclaims.

He is eagerly waiting to see how people react to their next short film. “We really want to see the response we get on our upcoming Christmas film, A letter to Santa. I am super excited for this one,” he says.

Sana Amin Sheikh says that working for ‘Content Ka Keeda’ was an awesome experience!

Actor Sana Amin Sheikh and writer-director Shivankar Arora go a long way back. The two have worked together in the show Pratigya, where Shivankar was the DOP. Sana has made her short film debut with Shivankar Arora’s One Night Stand, which is being screened on his as well as his sister Shipra Arora’s YouTube channel Content Ka Keeda.

Talking about working with the two of them, Sana says, “Working with Shivankar was an awesome experience, he is a chilled-out guy. He is young and very talented. I worked with him when he was a DOP in Pratigya and he was assisting in direction and photography. Those days, we both were just starting off our careers and now, to see him as an independent director is a great feeling. When I was working with him as an actor in his short film, I felt very proud to see him direct. He is very easy-going and makes the actors very comfortable. Shipra is one hell of a talented girl with curls, she is wacky, she thinks out-of-the box. Although she writes for daily soaps, now that she is created Content Ka Keeda along with Shivankar shows that she is not limited to daily soaps and is open to experimenting. Their channel’s name is so funky, it says it all,” says Sana, who has been part of Singhan, Table no 21, Bamfaad.

Talking about how she came on board with One Night Stand, she says, “When Shipra narrated the story to me, I found it very crisp. I liked the story so I just said, ‘Let’s go ahead and shoot it.’ It has a very catchy title and a lot of people are asking me if it is actually about just a One Night Stand, but all I can say is that it is a story which gets completed in one night.”

Ask her about the response that she has been getting for the film, and she says, “When the poster released on Instagram, a lot of people asked me have I gone bold for it? No, I have not gone bold for it, neither is it a bold story. It could have been a bold story but there is something else to it for which you have to watch out the short film. The response has been really nice and people are the showing interest and appreciating it.”

Talking about working on the OTT platform, she says, “Short films are awesome because don’t get to see short films on a regular basis on television or on any other platform as such, unless it is a web film or web series. But short films are crisp and easily accessible on YouTube. I think it is amazing that OTT is giving lot of actors opportunities, good shows, good scripts where they can perform and makers can juice out their talent. I think OTT is giving a platform to the actors where they can show their craft in a more expansive manner. Whereas when good actors get roles in films, they get limited scenes, that’s about it. But for OTT, I am so glad that the characters are being noticed, even if you make a small appearance, you get noticed and it helps you get more work in the future. So, I think it is a great platform,” she says.

Projects on OTT platforms are often assumed to have bold content. This is because it gives you an option to watch privately, says the actor. “People accept bold content on OTT. I completely agree because on OTT, you don’t have to watch a web series or web film with the entire family. You can even watch it on your mobile phones. It’s a private experience so you don’t even have to get uncomfortable,” she says.

One Night Stand… the name suggests something, however Shipra and Shivankar Arora’s short film is entirely something else. if you expect bold sequences and sleazy romantic lines in this film, you are in for quite a surprise. The film starts with a Sana, Srishti in the film, waiting for an auto late at night. She gets offered a ride by Sushant and the fun starts from there. At the risk of revealing much, the film touches a very sensitive issue of girls being drugged and raped.

Shivankar Arora’s comments on ‘One Night Stand’!

While there are many films that have been made on the subject, writer-director Shivankar Arora promises that his short film One Night Stand stands apart from the rest. The film will be premiering on his YouTube channel Content Ka Keeda, which he co-owns with his sister Shipra Arora. Talking about the film, he says, “It seems like a super cute love story in the beginning. But there is a twist in the end. I am very excited to see the reaction. The idea came from Shipra. I was writing a love-at-first-sight-story but then it felt like that’s too done and dusted so we added few twists in the film to make it more catchy,” he says.

In fact, title gives out very little of what the film actually entails, he says, “As the title suggests, it is a story about a couple who have a one night stand. But what happens in that one night is something the audience wouldn’t forget. I cannot disclose a lot about the film but I can tell you, the twists will surprise the audience,” he says.

The film stars Sana Amin Sheikh as the protagonist of the film. Talking about the thought process behind casting her, Shivankar says, “The casting has been done by Shipra. It was her decision to take her for the role and Sana nailed the character. Sana and I, know each other from Pratigya days and she has acted in one episode of our show Dating Siyapaa. Working with her is always wonderful,” he says. The film also stars Sushant Mohindru, who has been seen in Naamkarann.

Shooting intimate scenes is always challenging, he says, “I feel more than a director; it’s actors who are under pressure when they are shooting bold scenes. As a director, my job is to make sure that they are comfortable while doing these scenes. One has to know when to say cut. A second later and it could be too close and a second earlier it could look like it’s fake,” he adds.

Shivankar Arora says, ‘The TV industry got monotonous for me after a point’!

It was his thirst to do something different which led DOP-turned-director-writer Shivankar Arora to get into short films. After working in the TV industry for over a decade, Shivankar, who now owns a YouTube channel called Content Ka Keeda with his sister Shipra Arora, felt that a monotony had crept in, and decided to try something different. “While working in the TV industry for almost 13 years, I always had this urge of creating 5-minute short stories. After a point, I felt that the TV industry was getting monotonous for me. I decided to write content for short movies, web series and sell those to other OTT platforms. Fortunately, my sister Shipra was very adamant on developing content for our own YouTube channel. So, it wasn’t really a planned move to go on YouTube, it just happened to us. As a matter of fact, Dating Siyaapaa was written on a fun note. But looking at how well it turned out on screen, I think that’s when we started taking serious efforts for our YouTube channel and now it’s our baby, which will grow to millions of subscribers,” he says.

However, he has always been very passionate about his craft. Talking about how he decided to become a writer in the first place, Shivankar, who has been part of projects such as Pratigya, Uttaran, Naamkaran, Tu Aashiqui, says that it was nothing less than love at first sight. “I was 19 years when I shifted to Mumbai with my sister, who was working as a creative head at Balaji Telefilms. She was the one who introduced me to the entertainment industry and the moment I saw the set of Kavyanjali, I knew this is where I belong.”

Shivankar has also worked as a DOP for brands like ICICI TVS and others. Once he started making short films, there was no looking back, he says, “Short films can be very challenging and, at the same time, are great fun to work on. You tell a story in a very small duration, with a limited setup. At the end of the day, a short film is just a short movie with a clear, compelling story,” he says.

The director-writer says that the web has really evolved in the last few years and is here to stay. “The last few years have in many ways been an eye-opener for the digital entertainment industry. There is a major shift from mainstream cinema to OTT or YouTube. People in the age group of 15 to 30 years who make up the majority of India’s population are into binge-watching. This clearly shows that domestic consumers have an insatiable appetite for all kinds of content. The way people are shifting to the web from TV shows for entertainment is a clear sign we are ready for a change,” he says.

Talking specifically about YouTube, he says, “YouTube has its own consumer market, which is very difficult to overtake, at least in coming decades. YouTube is what TV was in the 90’s, everyone will watch it. So, like the TV audience finally got reduced in say, 2020 and people shifted to OTT platforms, the same way, YouTube might also witness a decrease in viewership, but after like 30 years. Also, the content that we make for our YouTube channel is not just fit for YouTube but can also fit as content on an OTT platform. We currently have a few offers to sell our content on OTT platforms too.”
