‘I think any war story related to your own country can be quite inspiring’, says Annup Sonii!

Crime Patrol fame actor Annup Sonii plays a competing role against Actor Abhay Deol’s character in the series inspired by true events, ‘1962: The War In The Hills’. He reunites with director Mahesh Manjrekar. Actor Annup Sonii who has ruled TV screens for years will now be a part of the upcoming war-epic 1962: The War In The Hills. He will essay the role of Major Ranjith Khatar – a competitive army officer and a dear friend of Major Suraj Singh (Abhay Deol).

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, 1962: The War In The Hills also stars Mahie Gill, Sumeet Vyas, Akash Thosar amongst many other prominent actors – details of which will be announced soon. The Hotstar Specials series – 1962: The War in the Hills is inspired by true events and narrates an untold story of bravery and valour and how an army of 125 Indians stood against 3000 Chinese.

Speaking about the series, Actor Annup Sonii said “Mahesh sir and I go way back! A few years ago we worked together on a project, so we’re quite familiar with each other’s style of working. We met one fine day and he mentioned he’s working on an ambitious take on the 1962 war and I instantly wanted to be a part of it. My role of Ranjith Khatar is a very sweet and nice one – he is constantly competing with Abhay’s Suraj Singh but in a friendly way. 1962: The War In The Hills is a great story and I am glad I am part of a series that focuses on lesser known parts of the war. I think any war story related to your own country can be quite inspiring.”

Annup Sonii’s character in the series, Major Ranjith Khatar, is a competing army officer who strikes a perfect balance between friendship and healthy competition with Major Suraj Singh (Abhay Deol) and believes in him in the most adverse times. Hotstar Specials presents 1962: The War in The Hills is slated for release on 26th February 2021 only on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium.

After a series of memorable performances, actor Mahie Gill will now be a part of the upcoming war-epic 1962: The War In The Hills. She will essay the role of Shagun Singh – an honorable army wife and will star against her former co-star Abhay Deol. Incidentally, the two will be seen on-screen together after their work in Dev-D.

Speaking about the series, Actor Mahie Gill said “1962: The War In The Hills is a rather special show for me. There was once a time when I applied to and was selected to be a part of our armed forces. And today, I get to play a pivotal role in a war series, not as a soldier but as a proud army wife. I believe that families who support our jawaans through everything are also heroes. My character Shagun is not the typical army-wife that’s showcased in movies or shows; she is strong and resilient and is fighting her own personal battles.”

Mahie Gill’s character in the series, Shagun Singh, is that of a resilient wife and mother who stands strong even in the most adverse times. Hotstar Specials presents 1962: The War in The Hills is slated for release on 26th February 2021 only on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium.

Sairat-fame Akash Thosar to be part of ‘1962: The War In The Hills’!

Akash Thosar who rose to instant fame across India after the success of marathi-movie Sairat will now be seen in a pivotal role in upcoming war-epic 1962: The War In The Hills. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the series also stars Abhay Deol and Sumeet Vyas amongst many other prominent actors – details of which will be announced soon. The Hotstar Specials series – 1962: The War in the Hills is inspired by true events and narrates an untold story of bravery and valour and how an army of 125 indians stood against 3000 chinese.

Akash Thosar who will be seen as one of the bravehearts, recently revealed that his childhood dream was to join the armed forces. He said, “The series 1962: The War in the Hills is a dream project for me! Ever since I was a child, I had a dream of joining the Indian Army and I had also tried giving my tests twice to get selected before getting into the movie industry. Not only an army officer but I also tried to enroll myself in the police services. If I wasn’t an actor, my career was definite to be joining the forces to protect our country.”

He further added, “The first time I was given an opportunity to play the role of an army soldier, my heart was filled with happiness and pride. If not in real life, I was glad to be wearing the uniform in my reel life. Whenever I wore the uniform I felt differently, as if I was actually a part of the army and would look at myself that way”

Akash Thosar will essay the role of Kishan who is part of the battalion led by Major Suraj Singh (Abhay Deol). Hotstar Specials presents 1962: The War In The Hills is slated for release on 26th February 2021 only on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium.
