The new villain of the Fast and Furious Franchise Jason Momoa will be joining in as Dante Reyes the son of the drug lord Hernan Reyes. We can see him in the latest Fast X trailer dripping with revenge. He wants to make Dom go through the same amount of suffering and pain that he has gone through for the past 12 years. We can see him dressed up in all black with a snake print leather jacket paired with silver beaded chain and rings, blowing up the Vatican, riding his superbike Harley-Davidson wearing his joyful revenge attitude as he appears to be one of the most dangerous villain of the Fast and Furious franchise.

Directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau. Fast X is releasing in the theatres on May 19, 2023, so don’t miss out on this most anticipated movie of the year!

In the movie, #VinDiesel’s #DominicToretto and #MichelleRodriguez’s #Letty are content with a quiet family life off the grid with young Brian. But as we have it, Dom’s past comes back, resurfacing old wounds in a world filled with danger and action.

Fans are in for a treat in the upcoming film with the arrival of Don’s brother Jakob, played by none other than John Cena. On being asked why was Cena chosen for the role of Dom’s brother, Vin Diesel responds, “I’m multicultural, so you could have picked anyone to be my brother. As we were developing the story, it was great fun to be able to revisit a past that pre-dates the first film. Once we started getting into casting, that’s when the anxiety set in, that’s when it was, like, ‘it could go any of a million different directions!’ There was actual anxiety. There are so many great, talented actors, but who would be right to play that type of archetype, that type of character that has to do so much in this film, because it’s a very intense role, all the while representing what our collective idea of a Toretto to be?”

He also added how at one point he thought Pablo (Paul Walker) had sent Cena to play Jakob. “I had already been a fan of who he is and his work ethic and maybe a week earlier I was watching Ferdinand with my kids… We love John Cena! He walks into my Dom shrine and I was kind of in this Dom state of mind, so it wasn’t too hee-hee ha-ha. He was walking into a sacred place. And we talked about why this franchise is so sacred and what goes into it. And how, if you come into this franchise, you have to be willing to put everything on the line. That day, I posted on Instagram, without talking to anyone, a video of him and me and I said, “thank you Pablo.” Because at that moment, I thought, my brother Pablo [Paul Walker] had sent him to play Jakob.”

John Cena joins the Fast team to play Jakob Toretto, Dom’s long-lost younger brother and one burning with vengeful feelings towards him. Talking about how the Fast team approached John Cena for the role, the latter expressed how it seemed somewhat a miracle for him. “I was approached to meet Vin on multiple occasions. He just wanted to get to talk and get to know me. And those conversations led to him enquiring if I wanted to be welcomed into the family. And eventually, he offered me the role of Jakob Toretto. Which, starting with the beginning of that statement: someone reached out and wanted me to meet Vin Diesel is so mythical and then the events thereafter are just so unpredictable, just so insane. It’s all surreal, man. It’s been a long time coming, but Fast & Furious 9 is finally about to be released in theatres and the surreal is about to become very real, very soon,” he said.

Talking about his character Jakob, Cena adds, “My skillset includes being stronger, faster, more intelligent than Dom. So, for the first time Dom has a foe that not only possesses all of his skills, but at a greater capacity. Yet I think here’s the kicker, and I really do love this: I also represent Dom’s past. And there could be that people will take the stance that there’s a metaphorical symbolism that you truly can’t run away from your past. And if you’re not ready to confront certain parts of it, you’re eventually going to have to if you want to move forward. And here we have Dom Toretto experiencing the early stages of fatherhood, but he reaches – pun intended – a roadblock because he’s unable to approach this moment in his past. I like the fact that the past he hasn’t confronted is his bloodline family and the fact that he now faces an adversary that is more skilled than he in every way.”
