Originally from Kozhikode (Calicut) and brought up in Gondia and Yavatmal, Ekta displayed versatility from a young age. A state-level handball player, she also completed a civil defence course as an NCC cadet in 1995 and earned certification as a first aider in 2004. Later, she shifted to Mumbai, where she continued her studies, trained in boxing, and won the title of “Miss Malad.”
Her artistic journey began on stage, where she was actively involved in theatre between 1998 and 2001. During this period, she performed in multiple languages—Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit, and Hinglish—in plays like Abhishapt Karn, Meena Nu Maandvo, Udhav Samvaad, Babysitter, and Bambai Ki Hawa Gayi Tabah.

Transitioning to television, she became a familiar face through shows such as Family No. 1 (1998), Shakalaka Boom Boom (2000), Shagun (2001), Apun To Bas Waise Hi Yaar (2001), Kahin Diya Jale Kahin Jiya (2002), and Naina (2006). She also played the character of Ganga in a mythological series.

In cinema, she appeared in Taal as the younger sister of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In Nayak The Real Hero, she portrayed a journalist from Q TV alongside Pooja Batra and Johnny Lever. Her filmography also includes Anjaane The Unknown, where she played a lawyer, and Khali Bali (2022), in which she shared screen space with Dharmendra.
Apart from acting, she has showcased her skills as a host with shows like Gapshap ane Shringar on DD Gujarati and Saas Bahu Aur Betiyan on Aaj Tak, while also maintaining a strong presence on digital platforms.

Interestingly, she stepped away from the entertainment industry for a period to work as a senior cabin crew member with a reputed airline before making a comeback. She has now ventured into the digital space with her podcast Life Unpacked and is also associated with The Healing Circle, promoting wellness practices such as acupuncture, naturopathy, chiropractic therapy, and yoga.

Her contribution extends beyond entertainment into social service. In 2022, she established the DPP Trust, through which she supports women by distributing sanitary products and helps underprivileged children with educational resources. During the COVID-19 crisis, she actively participated in relief work by providing PPE kits, sanitizers, and essential supplies.

Her dedication has earned her over 50 accolades since 2014, including honors like the Lions Gold Award, Maharashtra Gaurav Award, India’s No. 1 Brand Award, Babasaheb Ambedkar Noble Award, Dadasaheb Phalke Purashkar, Great Indian Awards, International Buddha Peace Awards, and the Leading Women Top 50 Award (2026).

Sharing her outlook on life, she believes that every individual is sent into this world with responsibilities, and she strives to fulfill hers with honesty and commitment. Reflecting her compassionate nature, she has also pledged to donate her eyes and organs.

The exhibition features over 300 varieties of Bonsai, along with an extensive display of Origami artworks created by expert artists. The showcase is supported by the Bonsai Study Group of the Indo-Japanese Association and Origami Mitra.

The BMC has been hosting plant and flower exhibitions for the last 27 years, and its annual flower show scheduled for February 2026 remains one of the city’s most anticipated events.
