Navratri, one of India’s most vibrant and spiritually significant festivals, is a nine-day celebration that honors Goddess Durga and her nine divine forms. Marked by devotion, fasting, music, and dance, it symbolizes the victory of good over evil and the power of inner strength. Beyond its religious essence, Navratri brings people together in joy and cultural expression, making it a festival that beautifully blends faith with festivity. As the country gears up for the celebrations, celebrities open up about what Navratri truly means to them:

#ShivangiVerma : Not too sure about Garba this time, but I’ll definitely be keeping the 9-day fast for Mata Rani. My heart feels a little heavy, so I just want to stay connected with her and spend this Navratri in her devotion.

#HarleenKaurRekhi : I always fast on Navratri, whether it is Chaitra Navratri or Sharadiya Navratri. I try to Google the colours of the day and make sure to wear them. It’s a very auspicious occasion, and when you fast, there is also a science behind it and reasons for doing so.

#ShagunSharma : Navratri has always been special for me. I may not be able to do the 9-day fast every year, but I do try to keep at least the first and last day fast. More than rituals, it’s about connecting with positivity and keeping yourself spiritually balanced. If I get time, I also love attending Garba nights because the energy and colours are so infectious.

#ShubhangiAtre : Navratri has always been very close to my heart. During these nine days, I make it a point to visit the temple at least once and spend some quiet time in prayer. I follow a sattvic diet throughout, as I believe it helps in cleansing the mind and body and keeps you spiritually aligned. Another beautiful tradition I like to follow is wearing the specific colour associated with each day of Navratri. It’s a widely practiced ritual, and I feel it not only adds to the festive spirit but also strengthens the divine connection with Maa Durga. For me, Navratri is about devotion, discipline, and passing on these values to the next generation.

For actress Harleen Kaur Rekhi, this Raksha Bandhan is a long-awaited reunion filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family. The actress, who will soon be seen in the lead role of Kaamdhenu Devi in Star Bharat’s upcoming mythological drama Kaamdhenu Gaumata, is heading to Delhi to celebrate the festival with her loved ones after a gap of two years.

“This year is going to be really special because after such a long time, I get to be with my family for Rakhi,” Harleen shared with a smile. “Over the years, I’ve realised that relationships evolve. As we grow, we start to mature and truly understand the importance of our bond with siblings. Being the youngest in the family, I’ve always been the most pampered and my sisters and parents have been my pillars of strength through every phase of life.”

Harleen belongs to a close-knit family of four sisters, and their Rakhi celebrations come with a unique twist. With no real brother in the family, the sisters have built their own tradition — tying bracelets to each other as a symbol of love and protection. “People often associate Raksha Bandhan with a brother protecting his sister, but I believe sisters protect each other just as much. In our case, the love is the same, the promise of protection is the same, only the form is different,” she explained.

This year, Harleen has chosen a stylish bracelet as her Rakhi gift, keeping in mind her sisters’ tastes. “We usually gift each other something practical — clothes, accessories, something to eat, or just anything that will be useful for that person. It’s about the thought and care behind the gift, not its price tag,” she said.

And it’s not just about exchanging gifts. The sisters are planning something truly exciting — a girls’ trip to celebrate their bond. We wanted to make it more than just a day. So, we’re turning it into an experience — a few days filled with laughter, late-night chats, shopping, and making memories we’ll cherish forever,” Harleen revealed.

For Harleen, this Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the unshakable bond between siblings, regardless of whether they are brothers or sisters. “At the end of the day, it’s about standing by each other, protecting one another, and making sure your loved ones know they are valued,” she said.

In a world driven by fast-paced entertainment, actress Harleen Kaur Rekhi stands as a rare performer who channels spiritual depth, classical training, and cultural reverence into her work. Known for her powerful portrayals of mythological figures, Harleen has carved a niche for herself with roles like Sita Maa, Mandodari, Kamdhenu Devi, and Draupadi, captivating audiences across stage and screen.

Harleen’s journey began at Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, where she was rigorously trained in voice modulation and classical Hindi and Urdu under mentors Anees Azmi and Sameep Singh. “At the time, I didn’t realize how valuable that training was. But today, it allows me to deliver mythological language authentically,” she says.

Her current theater project, Hamara Ram, is a testament to her dedication. With over 226 performances across India, the epic play is now preparing for international stages, including Dubai and the U.S. The live 3-hour 20-minute production sees Harleen playing Sita Maa, a role she calls “an emotional journey” rather than just a performance. “Every show is houseful. Audiences cry, they fold their hands. It’s not just acting—it’s devotion,” she shares.

Harleen is conscious of the deep emotional connection Indian audiences have with mythological characters. “People look at Sita and Ram as ideals. It’s a responsibility I carry with sincerity, even off stage,” she says. Her strong command of classical Hindi, paired with her grounded presence, helps her breathe life into roles that demand dignity, grace, and spiritual poise.

Her upcoming project, #GauMataKamdhenu, explores the transformation of Kamdhenu from a divine cow to a goddess—a concept she says is both innovative and rooted in faith. The release is expected within a month, though the platform remains under wraps.

Looking ahead, Harleen dreams of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sooraj Barjatya, filmmakers known for their rich storytelling and cultural depth. “Being part of Bhansali sir’s vision would be like creating art with magic,” she says.

For aspiring actors in the mythological space, she has clear advice: “Polish your Hindi, do your research, and respect the genre—it’s not like daily soaps. These roles are divine callings.”

A Mother is often the first teacher in our lives. The lessons she teaches through words, actions, and even silence stay with us forever. These artists share one beautiful life lesson they’ve learned from their mothers that continues to shape who they are today.

#HarleenKaurRekhi : My mom has always emphasized the importance of staying grounded, no matter where life takes me. She taught me that humility is the foundation of true strength—being humble and polite, not just with those who are older, but with everyone I meet. She instilled in me the value of generosity, always reminding me to share what I have, whether it’s time, kindness, or resources, and to never lose sight of where I come from. At the heart of everything, she taught me that the measure of a person isn’t in their achievements or status, but in how they treat others and the kind of human being they are.

#MoonBanerrjee: My mom taught me to be strong in your mind and never give up, no matter what life throws at you. Stay brave, face challenges with courage, and keep going even when things get hard. But at the same time, never lose the child inside you the part that dreams big, laughs freely, loves without fear, and finds joy in the little things. That child keeps your heart soft and your spirit alive.

#RinheeSuberwal: One life lesson my mother taught me that will always stay with me is: “Never be dependent on anyone, not emotionally, not financially, not mentally.” This has shaped my personality and helped me become the independent woman I am today. She’s taught me that being self-reliant is the biggest strength anyone can have, and that strength begins with self-belief.

#WorshipKhanna: One life lesson I’ve learned from her is to never give up. My mother suffered a lot. She was a housewife, and then my father passed away. After his death, she tried to start a business. At the age of 50, she began learning Reiki healing through online courses. At that time, I never imagined she’d do something like that. But she not only completed Reiki Levels 1, 2, and 3 she became a Reiki Master. She says she wants to keep herself busy by helping people and sending out positive energy. It makes me feel so proud. After losing her husband and also her young son, she still stood strong like a pillar for us. She remains confident, grounded, and full of strength

#LuvIsrani: Her name is Anita Israni, and she has been a working woman all her life. She is the reason I started photography, and she has always been my biggest cheerleader. Today, she enjoys a retired life and goes to kitty parties—something she couldn’t do earlier because of her work commitments. She has always been a very social person, deeply connected to people, and she values relationships above all else. I’ve inherited that quality from her. Whether it’s a social gathering or a function in our extended family, she is always there for everyone. She learned that from her father. People often tell me that I look like her and that I share many of her habits. The kind of person I am today is largely because of her.

#SaanandVerma: There is truly nothing in this world that compares to the love, strength, and divinity of a mother. In my eyes, a mother is no less than a goddess. There’s a beautiful saying in Hindi that goes, “Har jagah bhagwaan nahi ja sakte, isliye bhagwaan ne maa banai,” which means “God couldn’t be everywhere, so he made mothers.” And I wholeheartedly believe in that. For me, my mother is not just the person who gave me life she is my God, my guiding light, my source of strength, and the one person whose presence makes everything feel complete. I truly believe that those who have their mothers by their side are among the luckiest people on earth. A mother’s presence is a blessing, a protection, and a form of unconditional love that cannot be replaced. I cherish every moment with my mom, and I strive every day to make her proud.

#AadeshChaudhary: My Mom is the sunshine that brightens up my day and the calm in every storm. Her unwavering support, love, and guidance mean the world to me. I am who I am because of her. She’s been my strength in moments of doubt and my celebration in moments of success. Her quiet prayers and loud cheers have carried me through life. She’s always led by example—teaching me the importance of kindness, empathy, and gratitude. She reminds me to stay grounded and to use my voice for good. Her selflessness and generosity inspire me every single day.
