A source close to the actor shared, “The shooting for the show has been underway for the past two months, and during this time, there has been an outpouring of fan requests for Sachin’s comeback. While the makers had always planned to bring him back, it’s clear that his fans are eagerly waiting to see him again.”

Hrishikesh Pandey first joined C.I.D. in 2010 as Inspector Sachin and quickly became a fan favorite for his portrayal of a dedicated officer committed to justice. His character made his debut in the episode “Khooni Deewar,” where he played an undercover cop.

The much-awaited second season of C.I.D. has officially premiered on Netflix, with the first 18 episodes now available for streaming since February 21, 2025. New episodes will be released every weekend at 10 PM.

The show boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including #NarendraGupta, #AnshaSayed, #AjayNagrath, #ShivajiSatam, #DayanandShetty, #AdityaShrivastava, and #SaumyaSaraswat.

Originally launched in 1998, C.I.D. made television history with its 1,500-episode run, establishing itself as one of India’s longest-running TV shows.

“Working with Abhishek was a lovely experience. He is a wonderful person, a great co-actor, and a nice human being. And, Mr Amitabh Bachchan is Mr. Bachchan. When you work with him and are next to him, you realise his dedication, focus, the kind of hard work he puts into his films. If we can do even the 5 or 10 percent of what he does, our life is made. He is simply amazing. You will learn a lot from him by even just watching him perform. I worked with him earlier also in an ad film. This is my second collaboration with him. It is always a- dream-come-true to work with a living legend,” he says.

Hrishikesh plays the role of Yusuf Rangoonwala in Runway 34. “He is in the aviation industry, a captain and Vikrant’s friend. It is a pivotal character in the narrative. I don’t believe in the length of the role, for me it is important that I am doing it and how you are doing it,”” he adds.

Hrishikesh had a good experience of working with Boman Irani and Ajay Devgn in the film too. “Boman sir is a sweetheart. He is very humble and kind. You learn a lot from everyone. Ajay sir is a wonderful director, producer and actor. Being such a huge star, he is so humble and nice. You don’t feel like you are working with these stars as they are down-to-earth and supportive. They made us feel at home and comfortable. Everyone was cooperative. Boman sir is a lovely photographer and many times it happened that he clicked my picture when I was sitting in the corner or doing something. Ajay sir is a prankster. He did some masti on sets during April fool and,” he says.

Praising Ajay’s directorial skills a little more he adds, “From childhood, Ajay sir has been behind the camera, he is very sorted and knows what he wants. He knows the kind of shot that is required and for actors he is an ideal director as he makes you comfortable and gives you the liberty to perform,” he adds.

On his feelings of doing a Bollywood project after over two decades, he says, “Television, I feel, is like a newspaper that you read every day and you are used to it, films are like Granths and books. Films are films. No doubt television has given us a lot, is always there and will always be a part of our existence but films are films and the pattern and things of working are so different and interesting. TV has been closer as I started my career from there. Initially, of course I worked in films and then again got back to TV. I would definitely love to do films and web. The working pattern is definitely different in both these mediums. In films, you really have so much time to work on your character. On TV there is something different every day, there is no character sketch. It keeps changing as per TRP.”

So what’s more important to him now to be seen in a film or a stable TV show or a web series? “I never thought that only TV or only films are important to me. I have been doing TV for a very long time and would love to do more films and web series. Initially, since I was doing television, a lot of my friends and the producers thought that I wouldn’t have time for films and web series. It’s not like that. I have enough time and I’m open to every medium,” he makes his stand clear.

Runway 34 was shot amid the pandemic and the actor shares being worried while shooting. “And we took a lot of precautions. Amit Ji also had Covid and came back after that and even Rakul Preet [Singh] got infected. Every guy from makeup, to a technician to actors, everybody was properly taken care of, and social distancing was maintained. Everyone was wearing masks and the entire kit and the area was being continuously sanitized,” he shares.

The actor says that not only he, but his family, too, are big fans of Big B. “My family and I are big fans of Bachchan sir. I come from an army background and my dad never allowed us to watch movies in theatres. He only made an exception if the film was about Amitji or it was a patriotic movie. During Amitji’s accident on the sets of Coolie in 1982, the entire nation was praying for him. As kids, my sister and I had written a small note for him, which we managed to send to his place. When his health improved, he actually responded to our letter. We used to live in Jabalpur at that time and we were overjoyed. It was unbelievable to receive a letter from him with his photograph. I still have that precious letter,” he says.

In due course of time, the actor met Big B on several occasions for work projects. However, he told him about the letter very recently. “We are currently shooting for a film titled Runway 34 and I found an opportunity to share this incident with him as he seemed to have some time in the middle of shots. I told him about the letter and his reaction was priceless. First, he just looked at me quietly from top to bottom and smiled. He said he was surprised to know I kept his letter safe after so many years. He even read the letter. It was a beautiful reaction,” he smiles.

On the work front, the actor says that he owes it all to C.I.D. “I have been doing television for many years. Apart from C.I.D, I’ve also done family dramas and romantic shows, but C.I.D gave me a lot of respect. Its reach was beyond my imagination. Sometimes, people actually thought that we were a part of the police force in real life and would treat us with a lot of respect and love,” says Hrishikesh

He says almost 90 percent people give importance to physicality and disregard mental health because our industry is disoriented its not the industry it used to be.

“A lot of people don’t like to talk about it (mental health) they feel if they talk about this they’ll spoil relations with people, who they’re working wirh. Rather I feel we need to make sure that we create a better atmosphere for our coming generation of actors, technicians, director and others,” Hrishikesh says.

He further said for a happy stress free life, it is essential to maintain a fine balance between professional and personal life, besides doing meditation. Citing example of how police officers work round-the-clock, Hrishikesh thinks they’re all under stress because of their working hours.

“It is important for a person to work and take rest, be with their family and closed ones. Why’re we getting into depression? Because the reason is we’re working, we have no timing, no schedule, we’re taking a lot of stress,” he says, adding it is necessary to communicate and confide in somebody when such situation arises.

According to Hrishikesh, a lot of people are living an artificial life which they’re living for others to show – ‘this is what I am’, ‘this is who I am’.

He says what’s more important is we live life for ourselves, for our families, close ones and not for people to show we are happy.

Talking about the suicide cases in the industry due to depression, lack of opportunities or abusive relationships, Hrishikesh thinks one should not carry forward this kind of a relationship.

“In any relationship it is important that you respect, care for each other and give them space. You need to come out of that relationship which is abusive. So as long as you’re balanced in your life, you meditate it helps because lot of people in stress lose temper, do wrong things. And when you’re calm, you’re not into all this, there is no depression and you rather live a better life,” he signs off.

Sidharrth Sipani : Independence and perseverance are the two things that I have learnt from my mother. She always tells me to stand up from how to believe that I could do anything if I put my mind and heart into it. Priyamvada Kant : I am an extension of my mom. I owe my entire life to her not just because she gave birth to me but for the way she supported me throughout my entire life. Hrishikesh Pandey : From childhood itself my mother taught me the right values and morals. My mother inculcated the habit of learning and implementing the saying in shlokas in Mahabharata, Bhagvad Gita and Puran. She has taught us not to be greedy and respect everyone around us. I want to tell her that she is and will always be my world.

Mohit Daga : The most important thing that I have learnt from my mom is manners, respecting all religions and gurus. I remember that she used to bribe us by saying that ‘learn this shloka, and then I’ll give you Rs 5 for ice cream’. I am falling short of words to give her a message. We are connected till eternity; she knows what I feel for her.

Pritam Singh : I have learnt patience from her. But then I have my father’s genes in me too and that makes me a little hyperactive and my kids have got it from me I guess. I would like to tell my mother that mother is one person that no matter how many times you thank her, it’s still not enough. I would like to tell her that she should stop worrying about other things now and relax a bit, take care of herself for a change.

“Given the situation, I am not stepping out much or meeting a lot of people so that first-hand experience isn’t there, but I am getting many messages on social media. My family, relatives, and friends also have been saying nice things and tell me what they get to hear from others. Sometimes I get hate messages from viewers because of what my character does on the show, someone wrote don’t behave like this with Sirat, there was another who was like why are you creating problems for others? All this means I have been successful enough with my performance,” he sounds happy.

Pandey says the transition from Inspector Sachin to Mukesh Rathod was not difficult for him as an artiste, he was anxious if the audience would be able to get over with the positive image that he had in the hit show CID.

“It has been the longest-running and well appreciated. Every character of that show is etched in people’s memory so yes I was a bit worried if the audience will be able to accept me as Mukesh Rathod. But thankfully they did,” says Pandey.

CID still enjoys reruns in many channels and different regional languages. The ratings of these reruns are good enough.

“People still identify me with that role. I feel indebted to have got such an opportunity in my career. I miss being part of the show. The entire team became like a family. In fact that was the only show that Lata Mangeshkar ji used to watch. In fact she still watches the repeat telecast of CID. I hope we bring it back again,” he adds.

As an artiste, what are the kinds of roles that he finds satisfying we ask. “I am artiste who finds pleasure in variety and challenging parts. I need to find that interesting spark in a character to do say yes to it. I have always followed my heart in this matter. When you play a character you should believe in, you should be totally convinced and at the same time excited to bring it to life, I need to go through these three things before I take up a part. How essential the character is to the plot, whether it’s meaty or not matter more than screen time,” he ends.

“Dragging a show at times affect the creativity and even performance, all these leads to audience losing interest in the same. Earlier we used to have episode bank and story and everything were planned in advance. But now we work on a daily basis. Storyline, characters are changed depending on how a track works with the audience. It’s good so far. The problem happens when one track works and everyone else start following the pattern. That’s when creativity gets comprised again. A producer is putting money on a show to make sure it runs and he also get to earn from it. After all one show runs many kitchen. So we should have both variety going on to make things move smoothly,” he adds.

Someone who believes in taking up challenging roles and also experimenting with his looks, Pandey says all these helps in the growth of an actor.

“It’s not just about working and doing any role that you are offered. That’s does not take you far. Apart from doing what I do best, I am always in the lookout for challenging parts. Actors are trying hard to look different, present something new to their viewers. To be in the competition we need to engage our audience. We need to surprise them with our work,” shares the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor.

Pandey has played a variety of roles and have tried his best to add a new flavour to each of them. While most of his characters are strongly inspired from reality, he says when an actor plays a character which belongs to a different time frame, it is quite challenging.

“My double role in Porus is one such experience. I had to learn how to fight, horse riding, sword fighting and also imbibe how people conducted themselves in that era. On the other hand, the challenging part in of my role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai this is also quite challenging because of how I needed to speak in the Rajasthani dialect and also change my body language. I am playing a negative character and I need to behave in a certain way,” he says.

Happy with how his career has panned so far, Pandey is looking forward to more challenges. He is content with all the fame, money and love for the audience, and hope to live up to the expectations of his fans.

“Being famous is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because we have been working on certain projects like C.I.D. So, wherever you go, people know you, they show you respect and shower you with love. Sometimes they end up believing that we are real life cops (laughs softly). But then there is no privacy. It happens that I had stepped out for lunch with family and people came up to me for photos and autographs without realising much. But I guess we need to accept that. And I am not complaining. At the end of the day it’s a part and parcel of our work,” he concludes.

“Spirituality is doing right and not doing anything unpleasant to your eyes or doing wrong to people,” he added. He also revealed that he has been offering prayers and worshipping since he was seven. “I chant Gayatri Mantra and Hanuman Chalisa. It gives me a lot of confidence, positivity, and above all that no matter the ups and downs that come in life I have never felt low. I have always been a fighter and I think these things are there which gives you real positivity. Doing a few lines also in the morning helps,” he shared.   Asked if he follows any spiritual guru, the “C.I.D.” fame actor confessed, “I follow everyone who speaks right and not those who are religion-specific, I don’t believe in all that so I don’t follow all those gurus. But I do follow Sadhguru and other gurus who are not dividing people.”The actor also talked about those who leave their family behind to become gurus, and said, “I feel that people can be spiritually connected despite taking care of their families. You don’t need to leave them to be spiritual.”

What is your philosophy of life? “It is very simple, don’t do wrong to people, don’t harm others, always be there for people, help the ones who need your help. It will give you ultimate happiness in life and nothing else matters,” he said.

“At this stage of my life, I want to work with good people. It doesn’t matter how much you get never compare it with anybody. Everyone has his or her journey,” Hrishikesh concluded.
