These days the scripts have become more important for film makers. If a movie’s script is captivating then it doesn’t need star faces to capture audience’s attention. A few months back, #12thFail, having strong script devoid of star names made box office tinkle. Even after 4 months of it’s release it is running in the theatres. A newly released #LaapataLadies too has similarities. It has a very strong script supported by fine acting by newcomers. Moreover #KiranRao’s treatment to the plot is invigorating and she has kept the narration witty while underlining the societal deformities. In 1906, #RabindranathTagore wrote a novel, #Naukadubi, which dealt with mistaken identity. Laapataa Ladies too follows the pah of mistaken identity but it takes place in a crowed #IndianRailways’ train.

The story of Laapata Ladies takes place in an imaginary state, Nirmal Pradesh in the period when Mobile phone were just entering Indian markets. A few newlywed couple are travelling in a same compartment where ‘Dulhans’ are wearing similar ‘ghunghat’ covering their faces, the practice still prevalent in interior parts of India. Deepak (Sparsh Srivastava) too is travelling with his new veiled bride and gets down with her at his destination. Once he reaches home it is found the he had brought with him somebody else’s ‘dulhan’. His actual wife reaches some other destination as she had no clue about her ‘Sasural’. Both the grooms try to find their original wives and what transpires during and around it form the crux of the story.

The writers Sneha Desai, Biplab Goswami and Divyanidhi Sharma should be congratulated for superb writing set in rural India and avoiding melodrama. Even the dialogues are excellent as some of them talk much beyond the written lines. Kiran Rao, after Dhobi Ghat, has come up with an another jem. Her astute direction makes the film entertaining. Also she touches quite a few social and women’s issue through this film without going over the top. The movie flows from one scene to another without dragging anytime. The fun within the local dialect is exploited beautifully which adds to the entertainment quotient. Sparsh Shrivastava (Jamtara) plays his part with maturity. The ‘dulhans’ played by Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta, are relatable. Both have given excellent performances. Chhaya Kadam as a Railway tea stall runner adds punch to the narrative with her nuanced acting. The most endearing role of a corrupt yet humane police officer is played by Ravi Kishan. He has stolen the show without overshadowing anyone. His comic timing comes in handy to keep the proceedings light.

Laapata Ladies gives enough food for thought and throughly entertains.

Rating : ****

Get ready for an entertainment extravaganza on #SonyEntertainmentTelevision’s talent reality show ‘#IndiasGotTalent’ as it pays tribute to the incredible legacy of the #IndianRailways! Making the episode special will be the presence of renowned director and choreographer extraordinaire, #FarahKhan, who will join the esteemed judges’ panel alongside Badshah and Kirron Kher as a guest judge. The stage is set to sizzle with an array of spellbinding performances by the Top 13 contestants who will honor the monumental contribution of the Indian Railways.

Amidst the spectacular performances, guest Farah Khan and judges Badshah and Kirron Kher will take a nostalgic trip down memory lane as they fondly reminisce about their own rail adventures. Farah Khan shared, “I have travelled my entire youth in trains. It used to quite crowded, and I used to travel second class due to our limited financial resources. You learn self-defence while travelling in Mumbai locals (laughs). When we were travelling for the shoot of ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya,’ we took Shahrukh Khan on a train overnight, along with Manisha and Mani Sir. We covered ourselves completely with scarves so that people wouldn’t recognise us. But by the time we reached there, it seemed like everyone already knew that Shahrukh Khan was on the train. On every platform, there were thousands of people waiting to see him, and it was very scary.”

Kirron Kher fondly shares her own enchanting experiences, saying, “I had beautiful experiences too. My father was in the army, so when he was posted in different places, we would travel by train. The first-class carriages had spacious berths. The beds were quite large and comfortable. We used to peek out of the window, and my mother would say, ‘Don’t put your head outside; something might fly into your eye’. These trains weren’t diesel engines; they were steam engines. We had such beautiful memories.”

Furthermore, Badshah recollects a unique encounter, saying, “My dad and I were on an LTC (Leave Travel Concession) tour of South India, and we were travelling with another couple who were newly married. I was quite young at the time, and it was the first time I saw a Walkman. They put the Walkman on my ears, and there was a cassette playing, perhaps Tamil music. The movie’s name was ‘Kadhalan.’ That was the first time I was introduced to A.R. Rahman. I heard the song ‘Ooravasi Ooravasi’ then and fell in love with Rahman Sir from that moment on.”

Tune in to India’s Got Talent this Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 PM only on Sony Entertainment Television.

The post Farah Khan remembers Chaiyya Chaiyya with SRK, says, “On every platform, there were thousands of people waiting to see him”! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

New Delhi: The railways today said bookings for 200 regular passenger trains will open from 10 am tomorrow on the IRCTC website or through its app. These trains will run from June 1 and include both air-conditioned and non-AC coaches, the railways said, a day after it said only non-AC passenger trains would run.

The decision also comes days after the centre extended the coronavirus lockdown for a third time but lifted the bar on bus service and other public transport. The final decision in terms of implementation was left to the states.

People can book tickets online up to two hours before departure, and can also buy tickets only 30 days maximum in advance.

The railways said reservation against cancellation or RAC, in which two people share the same berth, and waitlisted tickets will be available. But those with waitlisted tickets that are not confirmed after the passengers’ charts have been prepared cannot board trains.

While food stalls at all stations will be open, only takeaways are allowed.

The post IRCTC: 200 Trains To Run From June 1, Compulsory Screening For All Passengers first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.
