Essaying the role of fun loving and grounded girl Isha, Palak shares her excitement saying, “I have always wanted to work with Sony Entertainment Television because of the relatable content they offer to their viewers; I truly admire this. It was on my bucket list from the time I started acting. Now I feel I can finally tick that off, as I am stepping into the shoes of Isha! Similarly, Dosti Anokhi has one of the most beautiful and unique storylines and being a part of it is no less than a golden opportunity. My character Isha is a typical modern south Delhi girl but at the same time she is also deeply rooted in her family values from Banaras which gives a desi touch to her personality. Due to her parents’ separation at a very young age, she craves for love and warmth. So, whenever she is with her nanu and nani, she feels that love and is very much attached to them. On noticing the attention being diverted to Purvi, Isha gets very insecure and hence starts creating new twists and turns in Purvi’s life.”

Further talking about her off-screen chemistry with the star cast, Palak says, “The whole team of Dosti Anokhi is very warm and welcoming. Since day one, it never felt like I was new to the set or anything, each and everyone in the unit is very supportive and helpful. Especially working with Rajendra ji has been wonderful. He reminds me of my bade papa. The bond Isha and Nanu share is very similar to me and my bade papa in real life, so everything feels effortless when I do a scene with him. On the other hand, I learn a lot from just observing Susmita ji. She is a flawless actor and there is a lot to learn from them. I have great fun with Sahil and Ishmeet as well. We talk about anything and everything which helps us in making memories off-camera.”

Many people think that he’s rigid, but that doesn’t imply that he doesn’t love or care about his family. His return to the Mishra house after so many years shocks everybody making them wonder what his intentions are. While he tries to showcase that he has come back for the sake of his parents and seek forgiveness, but the actual reason is something else. As the story unfolds viewers will get to see another side of Alok Mishra and his true intentions behind his return. Alok’s character has a lot of layers, making it a fascinating role to play. When it comes to reading the script and comprehending the lines before getting in front of the camera, initially I used to find it slightly difficult because of the use of shudh Hindi, but with the support of my co-actor Naman Arora and a little pre-production research and reading, I am have got the dialect right. My crew is quite helpful, since they are always willing to help me with any word or phrase in the script. I can easily approach anyone and ask for assistance, which has simplified the procedure. After packing up, I watch a few YouTube videos on language improvement and read shudh Hindi stories and articles to improve my command of the language. I’m confident that I’ll become an expert at it in some point. I’m thrilled to be a part of this show, which not only allows me to enhance my acting skills but also to improve my language and dialect.”

Apparently, shooting this scene is a remarkable memory for actor Rajendra Gupta, who shares, “On the very first day of our shoot, Ismeet and I had to jump in the Ganges, for the promo sequence. The water was mind-numbing cold, as it was probably 6-7 degrees then. We were super nervous initially and were preparing ourselves mentally, but when the scene got over…it was just exhilarating. It was a very calming and serene experience. By the end of it, it was all just worth it. Not to mention, shooting this scene was the best ‘ice-breaker’, as all of, the entire cast and crew had the best time during this shot.”

You are returning to television after a brief period, why did you decide to take up this show as your return?
I personally love stories based on real human connection and relationships. They touch your heart and as an audience, you’re able to relate and resonate with them. As the name also suggests, Dosti Anokhi highlights a beautiful and unique friendship between a 72 year old man and 23 year old girl who come from different walks of life and yet find comfort and solace in each other’s company after a lot of friction at first.

The announcement date of Dosti Anokhi is out and viewers can’t keep calm. How excited are you?
I couldn’t be more excited! My friends and family are also eagerly looking forward to it. I believe it’s a kind of story that has not been showcased before on television. It’s like a breath of fresh air. So, yes I am very excited.

You started your career with television and the space has evolved immensely when it comes to content, what do you have to say about it?
Yes, it has evolved in terms of variety, scale of performance, superior content creation and more. So, it’s an exciting time to be an actor and performer because with time, even the audience has evolved.

How is it working like with Sushmita ji and Ismeet ?
Susmita Ji is a wonderful co-star, I have known her since many many years now. She’s a dear friend. Not to mention, she’s an actor beyond par excellence. So, sharing the screen space with her is a very insightful experience. And Ismeet is also a delight to work with. All of us get along really well and it doesn’t really feel like we are working when we are together.

How has your experience been shooting in Banaras? Any specific moment that you would like to talk about?
Banaras has been exceptionally great. It’s been a treat to shoot at such beautiful location instead of our typical studios. People of Banaras are so incredibly warm and the food is just amazing. One specific moment that comes to my mind is when I had to take a dive in the numbing cold water of Ganges for a scene. I was nervous at first, but when I saw the end product, it was all just worth it.

What should the audience expect from this show?
The audience should expect a heart-warming tale of two individuals who are battling different issues in their lives but unexpectedly find comfort, solace and a friendship in each other. It’s a story of pure, unconditional equation that two drastically different individuals share.

What do you like the most about your character? How is it different from what you have done in the past?
I like that while he is a short-tempered, frustrated at life old man, but when life throws him a curveball and comes this bright bubbly girl, slowly but eventually, he becomes open to change. She helps him open up and he lets her do that. So, that was a really endearing transformation of my character that everyone will witness. It’s different from what I have done in the past because the story and its essence is very unexplored. So, naturally, my character is also new and exciting.
