Akshay says, “When you set out to make a historical like Prithviraj, which is based on the life and daredevilry of a mighty warrior who gave up his life to protect his motherland and countrymen, you need to be absolutely sure that you are being authentic to his life and times. I was delighted that I was collaborating with a revered historian like Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi ji, who has shown with his earlier works that his research and mastery over Indian history is flawless.”

He adds, “During our initial meetings on this project, doctor saab gifted me the incredible Prithviraj Raso, which is a Brajbhasha epic poem about the life of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. This book, written by Chand Bardai, who was a court poet of the Samrat, became the cornerstone of my prep. for the project. It was an eye opener for me to read this book as I understood the life philosophies of the Samrat and it became invaluable research material that I kept referring to throughout the shooting of the film.”

The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar, who won India the Miss World title in 2017, plays the role of King Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita. She says, “My director, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi gifted me Prithviraj Raso and told me that if I want to understand the life and times of the mighty Samrat, I should read this. The book became an invaluable source material for me to understand the mind of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan and his life journey with Princess Sanyogita. I think I could prep. thoroughly because I always had Prithviraj Raso to refer to.”

Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically acclaimed film Pinjar. Manushi’s launch in this movie is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Manushi, who made India proud by winning the Miss World crown 17 years after Priyanka Chopra won it for India, says, “I’m ecstatic that we now have a date for Prithviraj’s release on the big screen. It is the ultimate theatrical entertainer that needs to be watched in its full glory. I have been fortunate enough to have gotten this kind of launchpad and I’m hoping that I have done justice to the opportunity that I have got.”

She adds, “I worked hard to get the part and I know that I worked on myself harder to play the role of Princess Sanyogita. It was a huge responsibility. I’m thrilled that people are appreciating how I’m looking in the film. I hope that they love how I have performed too because that’s going to be my true test on screen.”

Manushi’s launch in Bollywood is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. Prithviraj is being directed by Padma Shri Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi who directed the biggest television epic Chanakya – based on the life and times of the most influential political strategist of India and the multiple award-winning movie Pinjar. Prithviraj will release worldwide on June 10, 2022in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and in IMAX.

Manushi has just wrapped shooting the first song of her Bollywood career and she is ecstatic about the experience of constantly learning on the set. Not many know, Manushi is a trained Kuchipudi dancer and has trained under legendary dancing couple Raja and Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. Their names are synonymous with Kuchipudi dance and Raja and Radha are regarded solely responsible for bringing it on the cultural map of the world. Both were felicitated by the Government of India with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards!

Manushi reveals that it is her early training in classical dancing that has helped her to confidently perform the song in Prithviraj. “My training in classical dancing when I was a child has definitely helped me for Prithviraj. I’m thankful to my parents for pushing me to take up dancing then because today, when I have to perform these big songs, it wasn’t extremely exasperating and frustrating for me,” says Manushi.

She adds the scale at which the song was shot was definitely overwhelming for the gorgeous girl but her foundation in dancing was strong enough to withstand that pressure. She says, “I was definitely overwhelmed seeing the scale and the dance steps that I had to perform but during my rehearsals I started feeling confident. The old learning’s all came back to me and I was sure that I could pull through. These dance sequences have taken the life out of me but I think I have managed to deliver. I was happy to that my director and choreographer were happy with my performance. That matters to me the most. I hope audiences appreciate my hard work and bless me because I have given it my best, given it my all.”

Manushi also thanks her gurus for pushing her and building her foundation in dancing. The goegrous beauty adds, “I wouldn’t have been able to perform if I didn’t have the learnings that my gurus gave me. All their hard work to better me as a dancer in my childhood, is actually the reason why I enjoyed doing the song in Prithviraj. So, all the credit goes to them for shaping me and moulding me constantly. I can’t thank them enough and I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to learn from them.”
