‘India Lockdown’ actor Aahana Kumra says, “I learnt that being lonely is a boon and a curse”!

Over the years, #AahanaKumra has made a name for herself in the showbiz that whatever project she is associated with, a certain amount of credibility on its quality automatically attaches to it. Having given some amazing performances in #LipstickUnderMyBurkha, #Avrodh and #CallMyAgentBollywood, amongst others, the actress is all set to be seen in #MadhurBhandarkar’s anthology film India Lockdown and she is quite excited for it.

Talking about her experience of working in the film, Aahana is all praise for her director. She raves, “He is a very collaborative director and truly a feminist. The way he is with women and the way he makes them feel comfortable on his sets is absolutely incredible. He is somebody who jokes around, has fun and truly enjoys the process and I think there are very few filmmakers who do that.”

The actress also revealed a few details about her look and how Madhur wanted it to be completely new and never-seen-before. “He didn’t want people to recognize Aahana but my character in the film. So, we tried a couple of looks and wigs but I then told him that I would curl my hair and I myself was quite surprised by the end result. Now I can’t wait for people to see it,” she exclaims.

The story is set in the backdrop of COVID induced lockdown in India and coincidentally she even shot for it during the lockdown itself. “I play a pilot in the film who has a high-flying, luxurious life on her own but she gets very lonely during the lockdown as she realizes that what she has surrounded herself with is not something permanent,” she informs, adding that her character is a very happy-go-lucky person but the loneliness of the lockdown makes her realise something new about herself. “I saw many people go through that same thing in real life too during Covid. So, I think it will be a very relatable character.”

Aahana shares that she met a pilot to prep for the film and learned about her life and her job, but for her, it was mostly about understanding the emotions. “A lot in this film is about internalizing the emotions of the theme and thankfully, we have all been in the lockdown and experienced it, loneliness being a big part of it. Being lonely is a boon and a curse, which I experienced during the lockdown as well as the shoot of the film,” she insists.

Ekta Kapoor feels that a woman in a saree is a choice, as a woman in a swimsuit

Ekta Kapoor produced ‘The Married Woman’ is already creating ripples. “It is a conscious decision to push strong women-centric stories such as Lipstick Under My Burkha, The Dirty Picture and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare”, says Ekta Kapoor. “In most of the countries, the sexuality of a woman is considered as sin” adds Ms Kapoor.

Bollywood’s very own content Czarina, Ekta Kapoor has always been a bold personality, being the great mind that she is, she always brings a varied kind of content for her audiences. This time as her new series, The Married Woman is all set to launch she has come out and mouthed yet another personal feeling of her on the kind of content she makes.

“It is a conscious decision. In most of the countries, the sexuality of a woman is considered as sin. That’s a big problem and I was told many times that I was a big part of that journey by showcasing women wearing sarees and sindoor (on her TV shows). I have somehow stunted the growth of women in this country. I don’t agree to this because I felt that a woman in a saree is a choice, as a woman in a swimsuit,” says the mastermind behind Altbalaji.

She adds that she has narrated several stories of “conservative women” with “household issues”, and now it is time to tell stories of women who have “other issues”I have told several stories of conservative women who have household issues, now it’s time talk about different things. Every woman in different stages of their life have choices and it’s their choice. They don’t become good or bad by any of their choices,” sums up the TV producer.

Ekta Kapoor’s feelings come in line with the kind of content she been bringing out in recent times. Her next series, The Married Woman touches yet another less explored area of female sexuality of a married woman and it only shows how the content Ekta brings forward eveloves with time as it raises more progressive question each time.

Ekta’s ‘The Married Woman’ releases on 8th of March. Ridhi and Monica Dogra play the leads of the series as Ekta and Altbalaji bring on yet another bold and less spoken about issue to the forefront.
