Fotty Seven, who has solidified his place as one of the #mostinfluentialemcees and #lyricists of #modernIndianhip-hop, is back with yet another #mind-blowingsong after his first #release #Banjo with #DefJamIndia, #”YouKnowtheDrill,” #featuring #Punjabisinger and #lyricist #ElldeFazilka.

“You Know the Drill” is a song about faith and having unwavering belief in oneself. The song further emphasises the significance of self-belief. Through extremely personal lyrics, Fotty highlights the times when he didn’t have anything. But he has, however, changed his and everyone else’s lives through years of hard work.

The music video of the song will take you through the small streets and lanes of Old Delhi and Chandigarh, highlighting the essence of old India through a strong graphic lens. Shot by one of the finest global underground hip-hop film maker, Azar Strato. Being genuine and expressive by nature, Fotty tries to blend himself with people to understand them. To shoot this prominent music video, director Azar Strato, was flown down from Russia to bring his vision to the music and his unique take on India as a country. Azar Strato has shot for artists like Octavian, Fardi + many more global artists

Fotty’s main source of inspiration is his culture; the music video depicts the determined effort to highlight the daily lives of people in Delhi and Chandigarh. You can see clips taken at Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Rock Garden & many other iconic places in order to accentuate the local culture and show the human side of these cities.

Talking about the song, Fotty Seven says, “This song holds a very special place in my heart as it talks about a different side of north India from where I come. Working with Ellde Fazilka was an amazing experience, as was shooting with such an incredible filmmaker, Azar Strato. I believe true wealth is living a happy life and being proud of who you are, and that is what “You know the Drill” is all about. I hope my fans and audience love and appreciate the work we’ve put in for this release.”

On the release of You Know the Drill, Punjabi singer and lyricist Ellde Fazilka says, “The song describes the real culture and the lives of people through a different lens. I’m happy to have worked with Fotty, as he’s a very talented artist. This is my first release with Def Jam India, and I am really looking forward to this association.”

The #lyricist and #founder of the #label #LafzonMusic, #Gilbert, also works with go-to #composer #AnshulSharma. lyricist #Gilbert Chettiar’s new single “#RakhLo” – sung by #AbhayJodhpurkar and #composed by Anshul Sharma – reminds us of the #importance of having a #pillarofsupport in #siblings.

The ghazal-informed, tearjerker of a track unfolds over the course of a film directed by Bijoya Mukherji, starring actors Pracheen Chauhan and Ayushee Ghoshal as a brother and sister who are facing their own tribulations but come together to help uplift each other.

Gilbert, who also runs a label called Lafzon Music and has been writing lyrics since 2008, said in a statement, “We live in an age where people at different stages of life are facing different issues. At times people around us do not really recognise [them], that’s when our loved ones are the ones we rely on. ‘Rakh Lo’ is one of my projects that has a new perspective on life and is close to my heart. I’m curious to see how my audience reacts to it and how it affects them.”

The video explores a queer person working through her identity, even as her brother faces an impending divorce and fights to see his daughter. Jodhpurkar sings on the track, “Mere hisse ki Khushi, tum rakh lo na?” The lyrics weave metaphors of pain and sharing burdensome feelings together, even as the characters exchange knowing glances and smiles to brighten each other’s lives. Sharma’s tender composition work is brought to life by sarangi artist Shahrukh Khan, tabla and dholak artist Prashant Sonagra and guitarist Sid Paul.

Interweaving ideas of queer identity and “everyday social life,” the song picks up on a new kind of sibling relationship. The video ends with the message, “It’s a privilege for us to voice our support to the LGBTQIA+ community. Respect. Inclusivity. Acceptance.”

During the shoot, while all the contestants left the judges spellbound, Aryananda and Ranita Banerjee caught everyone’s attention with their  phenomenal performance to Lataji’s song Ae Mere WatanKe Logon. In fact, guest Manoj Muntashir was so impressed by their melodious act, that he gave them a compliment that no one could ever imagine!

While sharing a memory of Jawaharlal Nehru crying after listening to the same song when it was performed by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar in 1963, Manoj said, “The two kids might not know this, but the same song was sung by Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji in front of Pandit Nehru Ji, and he ended up in tears after listening to her rendition live. One thing I can say very confidently that if Nehru ji would have been alive today, he would have cried once again listening to this performance.”

Thus Independence Day, with MonojMuntashir in the house, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s special episode will surely see some melodious and patriotic song performances put up by not just the Li’l Champs, but also Javed Ali. Gurkeerat and Saksham’s melodious rendition of Teri Mitti song will win everyone’s hearts, while Ananya and Soumya’s duet performance to Chak De India will give everyone goose bumps. All in all, the upcoming episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs will have a lot of melodies, memories and surprises for the viewers.
