The makeup team worked wonders with the detailing, from the eye makeup to the accessories, and when I saw myself in the mirror, I was amazed at how convincing it looked! Performing Garba in this avatar was fun and challenging, but I love such transformations because they add a fresh flavour to my character and bring so much laughter to our viewers.”

Aasif Sheikh aka Vibhuti Narayan Mishra adds, “I have donned women’s looks several times before, but this Garba avatar had its own charm. The hairstyle with flowing locks, bright eye makeup, and sparkling jewellery made me feel like I was stepping into an entirely new personality. I focus on understanding his psychology. Tiwari is a mix of confidence and vulnerability, so I pay attention to his expressions, voice modulation, and body language. After playing him for so many years, it feels natural—it’s like my second nature now!

What is more challenging: flirting with Anita or dealing with Angoori on-screen?

(Laughs) Both are equally challenging! Angoori’s innocence makes every interaction unique, while Anita’s modern and strong-willed demeanour keeps Tiwari on his toes. Balancing between the two adds to the fun and keeps the show engaging and entertaining.

Do you share any similarities with Tiwari in real life?

Well, unlike Tiwari, I am not a flirt! (Laughs) But I do share his persistence. No matter how many times Amma Ji (Soma Rathod) scolds him or Anita rejects him, Tiwari never gives up. That determination resonates with me deeply.
What do you remember about your first job in the entertainment industry?
My first role was in the television serial Neem Ke Ped in the early ’90s. I earned Rs. 1000 and for someone coming from Kalka, Himachal Pradesh, to Mumbai and getting the first break was a very important and big step. It helped me survive in Mumbai and strengthened my confidence to continue pursuing a career in acting.

Was always acting your dream? What challenges did you face?

Acting has been my passion since childhood, but coming from a family with no industry connections made the journey challenging. There were times when making ends meet was tough, but my time in theatre grounded me and taught me discipline. Slowly but surely, I found my footing in television.
How has your family supported your career?
My wife and daughters are my biggest cheerleaders. During my struggling years, my wife managed everything at home, allowing me to focus on my work. My daughters are brutally honest critics—they often give me performance feedback, which I value deeply.

What does a typical day off look like for Rohitashv Gour?

I spend it with my family—watching movies, going out for dinner, or just staying home and chatting. Gardening is another activity I enjoy; it’s therapeutic and relaxing.

Tell us about your fan interactions?

People often shout, “Tiwari Ji, kaise ho?” or ask me to repeat my catchphrases. Some even inquire about Angoori Bhabi or the ‘Kaccha Baniyan’ business. It’s heartwarming to see their love for Tiwari.

Angoori, in a moment of trust with Vibhuti, promises to reward everything she owns to whoever lands such an order for Tiwari. Driven by greed, Vibhuti arranges a large order through Prem (Vishwajeet Soni), who claims his friend Anderson from London wants to purchase a hundred thousand pieces of a kachha and banyan within ten days. Tiwari and Angoori rejoice upon hearing the news.

My Hindi teacher frequently provides us with tongue twisters to enhance our command over the language. Initially, I used to feel somewhat irritated because I often struggled to say them correctly, but now I find it immensely enjoyable. My favorite tongue twister so far is, “Pake Ped Par Paka Papita, Paka Ped Ya Paka Papita Pake Ped Ko Pakde Pinku, Pinku Pakde Paka Papita.” I make every effort to pronounce it accurately, but my ‘Paka Papita’ often ends up sounding like ‘papa Pakita.’ Following my significant struggle, I passed this assignment on to Neha Didi (Yashoda), and I was amazed to see her pronounce it flawlessly in one go. The best part was that after some time, I observed everyone on my set murmuring the same tongue twister. It was a lot of fun watching the team try to articulate it correctly.”

Himani Shivpuri, Katori Amma from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Hindi, is not only popular in India but also across the globe. As the daughter of a Hindi and Sanskrit professor, I have a deep connection with the language. As an artist, I feel very proud when Indian lyrics, songs, and hymns are adapted and used by various popular rap and pop music artists. There was a famous tongue twister in my film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum’, which goes, ‘Chandu Ke Chacha Ne, Chandu Ki Chachi Ko, Chandni-Chowk Mein, Chandni Raat Mein, Chaandi Ke Chammach Se Chatni Chatai.’ It became extremely popular, and I remember that all children and teenagers used it in their games and challenged each other to speak it as fast as they could. There was also a famous album made from it, which became a huge hit. Hindi is truly an amazing language to learn, and today’s kids should learn and enjoy it just as they enjoy speaking English.”

Rohitashv Gour, Manmohan Tiwari from Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “I have a good command of the Hindi language, and as a theatre artist, we are trained to speak both Hindi and English fluently. However, there was a time when I used to fumble a lot while delivering dialogue. I remember, for one of my plays, I had to narrate the dialogue, saying, ‘Tola Ram Tala Tol Ke Tel Mein Tul Gaya, Tula Hua Tola Tale Ke Tale Hue Tel Mein Tala Gaya’. During my rehearsals, I practised it almost 90 to 100 times. It was difficult for me to say such tongue twisters at that time. Over time, I have mastered the language, and today, I can deliver any tongue twister without fumbles or errors and with confidence. I believe that our Hindi language is interesting and full of fun. In my show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, I keep narrating such tongue twisters to irritate my neighbour Vibhuti Mishra (Aasif Sheikh). For one of our episodes, we were using this tongue twister to tease each other: ‘Daali Daali Pe Nazar Daali, Kisi Ne Achchhi Daali, Kisi Ne Buri Daali, Jis Daali Pe Maine Nazar Daali Wahi Daali Kisi Ne Tod Daali.’ We keep having fun using tongue twisters in our dialogues to irritate and annoy each other’s characters (laughs). Every year, in my building, we celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm. We have already begun the preparations. While I am in Jaipur, I am in constant touch with my friends about the activities we will be organising during Ganesh Mahotsav. I will reach there before Lord Ganesha arrives and welcome him by dancing to the beat of dhols. For now, I am planning the different games and special days we will be celebrating after every evening aarti at the pandal. Activities include dance, fancy dress, antakshari night, and cultural food exchange. I cannot contain my excitement for the festival to begin, especially because I get to enjoy amazing food. While Lord Ganpati may not make any demands, I keep requesting delicious food from all the aunties who prepare bhog for him, so I can indulge in those treats (laughs).”

Geetanjali Mishra, Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that spreads love and joy, an ode to auspicious new beginnings. Before Bappa’s arrival, we have already started cleaning the house and made a list of decoration items for the altar. No one can adequately express the joy, positivity, happiness, and the aura of Ganesh Chaturthi that surrounds us. With this deep love for our favourite Ganpati Bappa in our hearts, our home will be adorned with beautiful, amazing, and aesthetic themes to welcome and please the Lord. Some fascinating eco-friendly handmade craft items, flowers, and much more will add a personal touch to the festival. Additionally, on the sides, we plan to hang colourful transparent drapes with some lights. I will make various varieties of Modaks to offer to Ganesh Ji and invite a few kids from the family and neighbours for lunch on the first day. This year, I am wearing a nauvari saree and have arranged for Dhol Tasha to welcome our Bappa. All the arrangements will be top-notch, and my excitement is at its peak – Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

Our family has been following the tradition of bringing a Ganesha idol home for the past few years. This tradition started with my sister, who always brought an idol of Ganesh ji to our home. Our celebrations are very warm and affectionate as we spend the day with family and close friends. Each year, I make sure to take day off from work to celebrate this auspicious day with Ganesh Ji. This year’s theme is flowers because I believe flowers bring a smile to everyone’s face. We have made all the cutouts ourselves, and the cherry on the cake is that my two daughters are doing all the creative work to welcome Bappa. Additionally, for all five days, my wife has already made a list of Bhog to offer to Ganesh Ji. I am very excited about the festival and cannot wait to have Ganesh ji at my home.”
