Mohit Malhotra opines that one has to be extremely disciplined about using social media platforms!

CineBuster Online | Updated — Mon, 22 Aug 2022 12:10:08 +0000

#Socialmedia – a world replete with trending reels, quirky posts and easy access to people across the globe – can be addictive. Most of us spend a lot of time on social media. While it’s a great way to connect with people, the exercise also takes up a maximum chunk of our productive hours. #MohitMalhotra, who has been a part of shows like #BadeAchheLagteHain, #Splitsvilla and #Naagin5, says, “It can be a mood lifter. I actually choose who I follow or I put them under the favourites, so I only see who I wish to follow. I have realised even when you are following and scrolling the feed on #Instagram, you waste around 30 minutes only to realize that you are just empty scrolling. You have to be extremely disciplined about using this platform because it will drag you and immerse you so much that you forget that there is a real-life outside of this web, which needs your focus more than anything else. So, I would say that social media comes with its own advantages and disadvantages.”

Mohit has combatted the problem by regulating his time spent on Instagram, Twitter, etc. He says, “I have set a screen time for social media just to make sure that I don’t waste a lot of time. People just keep on scrolling and even I was a part of that. I would spend hours browsing through social media but not anymore. I post my pictures and spend around 30 minutes in a day.”

He also cautions Igers and their followers that not everything in the digital world can be believed to be true. He says, “In the world of social media, everyone wants to put their best foot forward. When you see it as an audience, you should realise that you don’t always see the complete picture. Don’t get so swayed by the social world that it makes you believe that what you see is the reality.”

But that’s not the only disadvantage associated with the platform. Several actors in recent times have complained about losing work owing to abysmal social media following. Mohit says, “It’s not a good benchmark set in the industry, where you are cast on the basis of your following on social media. We need to acknowledge that many people boost their followers by paying just to keep up with the trend. Many actors are not active on Instagram but they are doing well in their careers. So, nothing else but talent should count and be considered while casting someone. I don’t understand why the casting frat focuses on followers. It’s quite illogical, as there is no correlation. An impressive following doesn’t guarantee great acting talent. I am sure someday, everyone will realise that there is no substitute for talent.”

He adds, “A lot of actors are pressured to be active on social media by their teams. According to them, it helps in getting noticed and bagging projects. There is a lot of peer pressure and people do it for validation. I think we should only do what we like to do, we should not do anything under pressure.”

Mohit Malhotra says, “I am looking for a role of a male protagonist on small screen”!

CineBuster Online | Updated — Fri, 12 Aug 2022 20:54:12 +0000

It was #BadeAchheLagteHai that gave #MohitMalhotra overnight #fame and #recognition. Looking back, he also did a number of other #shows that added to his name. The #actor wants to continue doing good work in the coming times too. He is #thankful for #everything he has #achieved till now.

“Apart from Bade Achhe…, Splitsvilla has also been a landmark show because even today after 12-13 years, people still remember me from it. Splitsvilla was the start of the reality show era in our country and people watched that show throughout. The music of the show was amazing. So these two shows were remarkable in my career,” says Mohit, who was last seen in Naagin 5.

“Hina Khan and I were there together in Naagin 5. And, before that I did a movie with Vikram Bhatt titled Hacked alongside Hina again,” he adds.

In his career there seem to be gaps in the kind of TV work he has done. “In terms of TV, I am looking for a male-oriented show. Usually, on TV we see female-oriented shows and as men, we don’t get to explore too much, so I am looking for a role of a male protagonist. Hopefully, that will come soon,” he smiles.

The content on TV has changed over the years, feels the actor. “Content is something that keeps evolving with time. And, it should change because people are evolving with time. So as the whole society evolves, the content also changes. I am glad that we are getting better. People now have access to global content through various platforms. So, when the benchmark is set high everyone has to catch up with it,” he adds.

Meanwhile, the actor, who was seen in Maya 3, a show on Jio TV, wants to do more projects on OTT. He even enjoys watching content online.

On what he likes, he shares, “Things that are based on real incidents because those stories you haven’t heard of and I love the way they are presented as you learn and get to see great performances. OTT has varied content and I am glad that you can watch anything. Things are changing for the better. I also love some slice-of-life shows, it’s amazing.”

TV celebrities are elated on SC ordering CBI investigation in SSR death case

CineBuster Online | Updated — Wed, 19 Aug 2020 17:00:19 +0000

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely death have created a furore in public eye. Two states were at loggerheads about the investigating the case. As the matter went to Supreme Court, it gave a verdict of transferring the case to CBI. The Supreme Court on Wednesday (August 19) gave it’s much-awaited decision in late Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. The case has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation and this move has been applauded by celebrities and netizens alike. Celebs even called it a big win for SSR’s fan. Read on to know more:

Shashank Vyas: It was a much needed step and though its just the first step towards justice, at least now we can expect an unbiased and fair investigation. I was always in favour of a CBI inquiry, but this goes to his fans, its their victory.

Pranitaa Pandit: I am extremely happy and relieved. I have been following the case and I wanted justice for Sushant. The way the entire case was going CBI inquiry was a must. I am very grateful and happy that the Supreme Court has ordered the same and I am sure we will get answers to a lot of unanswered questions and will get justice for Sushant.

Mohit Malhotra: So finally it happened. It’s a victory not just for Sushant’s family, but for all those who stood up for him. With the Supreme Court ordering a CBI investigation, I feel now we will have a fair investigation and we will get to know what happened to him on that fateful day. Sushant’s family and fans can finally get some relief and hopefully they will get a closure soon, too.

Dhruvee Haldankar: It is apparent that it is on account of political pressure in the state of Maharashtra, and the continuous interference of the media and Sushant’s fans and well-wishers that the CBI will now intervene. The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court has held that access to justice is a fundamental right and I am glad that his family will get to know the truth now. I only hope that the faith in CBI is affirmed and this case sets an example of true justice in India.

Mou Das: The entire country was looking forward for this verdict. This was well expected. There was a lot of social media support for SSR’s mysterious death and investigation with regards to it. No one knows what the truth is. The verdict today is just the beginning towards a true and fair investigation by the CBI. We can all wait to see what is the final outcome. Truly sad that such a great artist is no more with us. His demise was a shock in itself and the fact that it was said to be a suicide is just to much to digest. Apparently, there are many loose ends which are being tossed up by the media in the investigation. Let’s pray that SSR and his family gets justice and the truth prevails.

Rohit Chaudhary: Yes this is the right decision and we know that CBI will do investigation in a proper and neutral way. The truth will soon come out. Everyone trusts CBI and I feel that some unanswered questions will get their answers, because there is a lot of confusion in it and everyone wants to know the reason behind the death of such a happy and smiling child.

Amal Sehrawat: I am extremely grateful to the Supreme Court of India for their verdict today. Let the justice prevail.

Vijayendra Kumeria: I am happy as I was and am in full support for a CBI probe. I just want the truth to come out as Sushant’s fan, friends and family need a closure. A fair inquiry is needed in this case and all those who are found guilty should be punished without any mercy.

Aarvika Gupta: CBI inquiry is a big relief to all of us as the truth will come out. The Mumbai government should also give full support to CBI so that an evidence cannot be destroyed. Sushant was a very creative and intelligent guy, and his death was a big loss for all of us. Sushant should get justice, and the culprit should be punished.

Shubhangi Atre: Yes, I am extremely happy that Supreme Court has ordered CBI inquiry. Now the truth will come out because many things were very suspicious and mysterious. We should always raise our voice against any injustice and I am extremely happy that Supreme Court has given a verdict for CBI inquiry.

Meera Deosthale: We all were waiting for this verdict and the truth will soon come out. We all want to know what happened with Sushant Singh Rajput. I am really happy by the order and truth shall win.

Jhanvi Sethi: It’s a landmark verdict and I along with the whole country welcome it. Supreme court has restored our faith in the jurisdictional system. Now we all pray for the truth to come out and Sushant Singh Rajput and his family to get justice.

Vikas Sethi: Justice for SSR. Now we will have an honest investigation and SSR and his family will definitely get justice.

Kettan Singh: This decision has come late but given the process, better late than never. This case when pursued with the nepotism glass would not have reached out for justice, it was just calling out names and trolling. Now after so many evidences coming out and so many theories, it was high time that the central agency came forward and started the investigation. Also I hope since its been over two months, this case doesn’t end up like the Aarushi Talwar case.

Avinash Mukherjee: We all were eagerly waiting for this verdict. It’s a big victory for SSR’s fans because there wasn’t a single day when #CBIforSSR was not trending on social media. We all need to know what happened to him and hopefully we will get the answers soon.

Urvashi Upadhyay Sharle: I have been following his case regularly and always wondered how can such a talented boy commit suicide. There is more to this case than what’s visible. We all need answers and we all want justice for Sushant. I am happy that CBI has taken over the case now, at least now we can get some correct answers.
