From the soothing sip of morning chai to late-night conversations over a steaming cup, tea is more than just a beverage — it’s a tradition, a mood, and a moment of pause. Celebrated on May 21st, International Tea Day honors the cultural, emotional, and even medicinal significance of tea across the globe. Whether it’s the kadak masala chai of Indian households, herbal infusions for wellness, or classic English blends, tea brings people together in the simplest yet most comforting way. Today, as we raise our cups, celebrities too join in to share their personal chai stories, rituals, and that one perfect cup they can never resist

#RomiitRaaj : I love tea, and I start my day with masala tea. We have a very unique way of making it — we add tea leaves to boiling water and milk, and just let it be. It’s amazing with lemongrass and cardamom. My favorite tea memory is definitely from my childhood home in Kolkata — me, mom, and my brother Rohan having tea together in the morning. Sun rays would light up the living room as we sat there discussing and cherishing memories…

#ChefHarpalSinghSokhi : Tea is something I’ve grown up drinking, and Punjabi families are truly addicted to it. When I used to visit my Nani’s house in Punjab during the winters, she would serve tea in a brass glass early in the morning. We would end up drinking 3–4 cups! It’s such a cherished memory. Everything about tea is very close to Punjabi culture — whether it’s before breakfast, after breakfast, in the evening, or on any occasion. These days, there are a lot of tea varieties available, and personally, I love chamomile tea along with English Breakfast. Sometimes, I make my own tea with a unique blend: it has turmeric, roasted cumin, moringa, black salt, lemon, and ginger. I boil all of this, add a few tea leaves, strain it — and it’s so refreshing for me.

#MoonBanerrjee : I am a tea addict. No matter what, I need to have at least one cup of tea daily. Well, it’s our quintessential kadak chai. I try to avoid overly milky ones, but I like it strong — maybe with ginger at times. My favorite time of the day is tea time in the evening. I look forward to that one cup of satisfaction — only a true tea lover would understand what I mean. Of course, when I was in college, drives during the monsoon were planned only for chai and bhutta or wadas on the outskirts of Mumbai. I would love to meet Rabindranath Tagore for a cup of tea and request him to recite some of his incredible poems in Bangla.

#WorshipKhanna : I am a hard-core chai lover. I have a very bad habit — I need my morning tea in bed. I know this isn’t a great habit and I’ve been trying to change it, but honestly, I haven’t been able to yet. Every morning, I need my tea in bed. Until I have it, I don’t like to talk to anyone. If I end up talking to someone before having tea, it usually turns into a fight because I get very irritable. If I don’t get my tea, my day just doesn’t start. For me, a perfect cup of tea means sitting with my best friend, somewhere peaceful — like in the mountains or a cozy work spot — but never in a rush. I don’t like rushed, on-the-go tea. I don’t want tea just for the sake of it. I want to enjoy it peacefully, in a beautiful mug. One of my biggest quirks is that I get bored of mugs very quickly — I keep changing them. I have a habit of drinking tea in a new mug every other day.

#IndraxiKanjilal : I love making coffee or tea because it’s the easiest thing to make. I think the perfect cup of tea is when it’s raining outside, you’re at home with your family, watching something nice, and sipping tea. My mother makes really good tea. I only enjoy tea when it’s made at home — I don’t like tea that’s ordered from outside. When I was young, I used to live at my granny’s house most of the time. I loved it there. I’d always say, “I want to go to my granny’s house.” I spent more time there than at my own home. At 5 o’clock in the evening, my grannies would make tea — it was a daily ritual. Not just them, even I would get a cup because I liked acting like a grown-up. My two grannies, my mother, and I would sit on the ground and drink tea together. I would quietly listen to all their conversations while sipping mine. It’s a beautiful memory I still cherish. Today, the whole world seems to be getting into coffee culture, with very few people indulging in chai pe charcha — which used to be a vibrant part of every gully and nukkad. Sadly, humble tea is being overshadowed by the hot and happening coffee trend.

#RiddhimaSharma : I’m absolutely obsessed with tea, especially Masala Chai. My daily ritual is to wake up around 4 am, pray, and then indulge in a steaming cup of Masala Tea. It’s incredibly refreshing, especially when shared with my mother. One of my all-time favorite tea memories is imagining myself in Udaipur during the rainy season — my most loved city. There’s something magical about driving up to Sajjan Garh Palace, the way the road curves, the view gets better with every turn, and the clouds start rolling in. Once you’re at the top, you can see the whole city — lakes, hills, everything covered in mist. Sitting there with a hot cup of chai in hand, the smell of rain in the air, and the wind playing with your dupatta — it’s just… perfect. That’s the kind of tea memory that stays in your soul forever.

A Mother is often the first teacher in our lives. The lessons she teaches through words, actions, and even silence stay with us forever. These artists share one beautiful life lesson they’ve learned from their mothers that continues to shape who they are today.

#HarleenKaurRekhi : My mom has always emphasized the importance of staying grounded, no matter where life takes me. She taught me that humility is the foundation of true strength—being humble and polite, not just with those who are older, but with everyone I meet. She instilled in me the value of generosity, always reminding me to share what I have, whether it’s time, kindness, or resources, and to never lose sight of where I come from. At the heart of everything, she taught me that the measure of a person isn’t in their achievements or status, but in how they treat others and the kind of human being they are.

#MoonBanerrjee: My mom taught me to be strong in your mind and never give up, no matter what life throws at you. Stay brave, face challenges with courage, and keep going even when things get hard. But at the same time, never lose the child inside you the part that dreams big, laughs freely, loves without fear, and finds joy in the little things. That child keeps your heart soft and your spirit alive.

#RinheeSuberwal: One life lesson my mother taught me that will always stay with me is: “Never be dependent on anyone, not emotionally, not financially, not mentally.” This has shaped my personality and helped me become the independent woman I am today. She’s taught me that being self-reliant is the biggest strength anyone can have, and that strength begins with self-belief.

#WorshipKhanna: One life lesson I’ve learned from her is to never give up. My mother suffered a lot. She was a housewife, and then my father passed away. After his death, she tried to start a business. At the age of 50, she began learning Reiki healing through online courses. At that time, I never imagined she’d do something like that. But she not only completed Reiki Levels 1, 2, and 3 she became a Reiki Master. She says she wants to keep herself busy by helping people and sending out positive energy. It makes me feel so proud. After losing her husband and also her young son, she still stood strong like a pillar for us. She remains confident, grounded, and full of strength

#LuvIsrani: Her name is Anita Israni, and she has been a working woman all her life. She is the reason I started photography, and she has always been my biggest cheerleader. Today, she enjoys a retired life and goes to kitty parties—something she couldn’t do earlier because of her work commitments. She has always been a very social person, deeply connected to people, and she values relationships above all else. I’ve inherited that quality from her. Whether it’s a social gathering or a function in our extended family, she is always there for everyone. She learned that from her father. People often tell me that I look like her and that I share many of her habits. The kind of person I am today is largely because of her.

#SaanandVerma: There is truly nothing in this world that compares to the love, strength, and divinity of a mother. In my eyes, a mother is no less than a goddess. There’s a beautiful saying in Hindi that goes, “Har jagah bhagwaan nahi ja sakte, isliye bhagwaan ne maa banai,” which means “God couldn’t be everywhere, so he made mothers.” And I wholeheartedly believe in that. For me, my mother is not just the person who gave me life she is my God, my guiding light, my source of strength, and the one person whose presence makes everything feel complete. I truly believe that those who have their mothers by their side are among the luckiest people on earth. A mother’s presence is a blessing, a protection, and a form of unconditional love that cannot be replaced. I cherish every moment with my mom, and I strive every day to make her proud.

#AadeshChaudhary: My Mom is the sunshine that brightens up my day and the calm in every storm. Her unwavering support, love, and guidance mean the world to me. I am who I am because of her. She’s been my strength in moments of doubt and my celebration in moments of success. Her quiet prayers and loud cheers have carried me through life. She’s always led by example—teaching me the importance of kindness, empathy, and gratitude. She reminds me to stay grounded and to use my voice for good. Her selflessness and generosity inspire me every single day.

As the world gears up to celebrate World Dance Day on April 29th, we spoke to some of your favorite stars about what dance truly means to them. From childhood memories to stress-busting moves, dance holds a special place in their hearts. Here’s what they had to say:

Anupama Solanki: Dance is like magic for me. It helps me express my feelings when words are not enough. It makes me feel alive and free. Whenever I dance, my mood instantly becomes better. I feel pure happiness and joy. Dance feels like a big warm hug for my heart. I love Madhuri Dixit She dances with so much grace and beauty. Every move she makes tells a story and touches your heart and because of her I really admire Kathak. It looks so elegant and powerful at the same time. I am even learning the dance form.

#SimaranKaur: Dance is pure joy for me. It’s a beautiful form of self-expression where I can completely be myself, without any filters. It connects me to my inner child and makes me feel alive. No matter how tired or stressed I am, the moment I start moving to music, I feel lighter and happier. I associate dance with freedom and pure happiness. We make a lot of dance reels on the sets of Jamai No. 1, and I love dancing to the beats of Bollywood songs. I really love dancing, and I absolutely admire the dance moves of Nora Fatehi.

#MuskaanAgarwal: I love dance because it’s fun, and I feel that dance energizes me. I can dance without music as well. For me, it’s all about expressing emotion. Dance elevates my mood. I dance like crazy, and I love Bollywood music and party songs. My friends are my dance partners. My favorite dancers are Kareena Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Nora Fatehi. I want to learn belly dancing. “Dum Maro Dum” is my favorite song.

#ShivangiVerma: Dance is my happy space. It helps me express myself when words fall short. It connects me to my inner self and brings pure joy. Even on the worst days, a little dance lifts my spirits and changes my energy instantly.I love Madhuri Dixit! She dances with so much grace and expression. Every move tells a story..she’s timeless.and I really admire Bollywood form of dance . I admire its elegance, footwork, and energy.

#MoonBanerrjee: Dance elevates my mood —it helps release endorphins, reduces stress, and helps me feel more alive and connected to self.I don’t like a particular form, i enjoy zumba as much as a classic peice as a kid like all Bengalis do even I was enrolled in kathak but I couldn’t pursue it for long. It’s difficult to name one particular song but I love most of the Madhuri Dixit moves and in today’s time I would say I love watching deepika padukone moves especially in the Bhanshali movies.

Moon Banerrjee, who has been part of shows like #ChashmeBaddoor, #Abhimaan, #GharEkMandir, #KasautiiZindagiiKay, #KyunkiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi, #Muskaan, #SasuralSimarKa2, and #Doree, is excited about Holi, which will be celebrated on March 14. She said, “Holi is my favourite festival, and I love playing Holi. Of course, it should be played responsibly, as preserving water is the need of the hour.”

“I will prefer to play dry holi with organic colours and thandai, lots of pakodis, and gujiya, but that’s very rare in Mumbai, though,” she added.

She has requested everyone to avoid water balloons and dirty colours and said, “Because kids can’t differentiate, and it can be bad for them also. Throwing balloons on animals and elderly people is in very bad taste. It’s important to stop the source and ban these things.”

Moon also shared her skincare and clothing choices at the festival. She said, “I generally tie hair into a braid, and skin is mostly with loads of sunscreen and lotions, nothing more than that. I am an all-white person on Holi so that all the colours on me are seen loud and clear, so either it’s a tee with denim or a white saree/salwar kameez with boho earrings and bangles.”

Asked her to describe herself in a colour, and Moon said, “I have two moods: one is white and the other is red. Whites are my all-time favourite, and red is when I want to feel vibrant and upbeat.”

As for food, she loves “all the Holi delicacies like pakodas, gujiya, dahi bhalla, rabdi, jalebi, and a little bit of bhaang laddoos.”

Best Holi memory? “Seven years back I was in Delhi with my extended family, and it was one of the best Holi experiences to date because festivals with family and close friends make it very special. The whole house was buzzing with joy, laughter, colours, the smell of freshly fried veg pakoras, and a drum full of thandai, gujiya, dahi bhallas, etc., so it was the best by far,” Moon ended.
