Mukul Dev has come a long way in his career. He has had a journey of close to 25 years in the industry and he finally seems to get his dues. He is also a commercial pilot for close to a decade. Mukul also ran an aeronautical training institute that has been non-functional since the outbreak of the deadly pandemic. The range of his work is wide. Not many might know that Mukul is the writer of the Rajkumar Rao starrer Omerta. He has got a couple of movies lined up for release viz, Kartar Singh Saraba, Sharik, Barefoot Warriors. Sharik is in Punjabi alongside Jimmy Shergill and the other two are cross-over cinema directed by Kaviraj.

Let’s get to what Mukul has to say about his journey, “It’s been a long time it seems. I started at a very young age. I got to work with Dilip Kumar Sahab. Then there was a career as a commercial pilot where I was doing exceedingly well. So life has been full of ups and downs. I liked the reach that the work gets as an actor. Earlier it was films and now the OTT has really upped the game. There can’t be better times to make content. The pandemic was a break which I feel a lot of us needed. It has led to a complete overhaul of things. The focus is more on efficiency post that. We saw that when people actually worked online and from their homes and with better efficiency sometimes. I have just finished writing my second story after omerta. It’s a story which is based on one of my father’s cases as a policeman in the Delhi police. My father was rewarded and decorated for it. Some good news would be coming soon hopefully and it will see the light of the day in 2021. I can’t reveal much but it is a very exciting project. Also finalizing something to be in front of the camera. A huge cheers to the audience and the fans. It’s just because of them that we as actors keep going.”

We wish Mukul all the luck. He has been such a powerful performer. His characters have stayed afresh and we get the feeling that he is just getting started.

The post ‘The pandemic has led to a complete overhaul of things’, says Mukul Dev first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Wow! We didn’t know that for sure. That was also our reaction when we heard this. And yes this is true. He is an extremely versatile actor. We have seen him portray some memorable characters be it state of seige or 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897. He has been absolutely fantastic with his first stint as the writer for the movie Omerta. Mukul Dev started his career in the 90s as a male protagonist and slowly worked on his range as an actor playing both protagonist and antagonist in recent times.

We spoke to him on his writing outing for Omerta and here is what he says, “It was my first script. I have a deep love for writing stories and it was the first time I wrote one. It was back in 2006 or 2007. I gave it to my good friend hansal Mehta. The film got made in 2017 and I was happy irrespective of the time. We had rajkumar rao who is such a strong performer as the central character. There isn’t anything better one could have asked. I am very proud of it. Audience with an advanced sensibility and especially the ones watching content on OTT would love this subject. I am currently writing another film and I would talk more about it soon.”

Omerta is a great story backed by very strong performances. It’s a must watch for anyone who hasn’t watched it. We highly recommend it. We wish mukul all the best for all his future endeavours. And he seems to be just getting started.

The post Did you know, Mukul Dev is a writer of Omerta first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was one of the masterminds behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. To play a character like that is not easy, but actor Mukul Dev has done a commendable job and the audience reactions are proof of it. The story on State of Siege: 26/11 revolves around the horrifying terror attacks that took place in Mumbai in November 2008. Not much was spoken or written about Lakhvi until Sandeep Unnithan did an in depth research on the whole incident and wrote a book ‘Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11’, to which the show has been adapted.

Mukul’s looks and vocabulary are one of the key things loved by the audience, and when asked about it he said, “Lakhvi’s screen presence is mostly confined to the four walls of the control room and that’s what challenged me to bring this character to life. While I was doing my research, I distinctly remembered the voice of the man who was giving instructions to the terrorists in Mumbai. He had a rough voice with an accent. Being Punjabi it wasn’t difficult for me to get the lingo, but the task was to portray him with the same attitude & mannerism as a Pashto would. Getting down to every nitty-gritty of the character, from an eyebrow twitch to the way he drank his chai! The whole process challenged me as an actor.”

Starring Arjan Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Mukul Dev, Sid Makkar, Tara Alisha Berry, Khalida Jaan, Jyoti Gauba, Shoaib Kabeer, Roshni Sahota, Suzanne Bernert, Naren Kumar and Jason Shah, the show is directed by Matthew Leutwyler, produced by Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Pictures and is currently streaming on ZEE5.

The post Mukul Dev plays Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, says ‘Playing a character like him is not easy’ first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Remember Daag: The Fire? The movie that starred Mahima Chaudhry in a double role along with Sanjay Dutt and Chandrachur Singh. It still bothers us that the movie was titled Daag: The Fire and not Aag: The Fire. Daag here doesn’t mean blot, but in Punjabi Daagna means losing everything in fire.

It has been 21 years since the movie released, and the first thing that comes to our mind when we think of it is — where is Chandrachur Singh?

He has not been in the movie business for a long time now. What happened to him?

Like other forgotten heroes of his generation (for instance, Mukul Dev and Rahul Roy) he didn’t appear on Bigg Boss to hog the limelight. He didn’t even join politics like Sunny Deol or Urmila Matondkar, and neither did he buy an IPL team like Preity Zinta. He is not even on Twitter retweeting grammatically incorrect compliments or on Instagram posting his oh-so-hot pictures that leave us pleasantly shocked!

Well, it’s good that he is not trying so hard and doing crazy things to stay in the limelight, but, where is he?

Fact is, you can tell a lot about the industry by how it treats its side heroes. There have been many like him who came, conquered and soon faded away in oblivion. So, this is our ode to Chandrachur Singh, the forgotten hero who could have been the Shah Rukh Khan of Bollywood.

After a stellar debut in Tere Mere Sapne and critically acclaimed performance in Maachis, followed by in 1996, it didn’t look like anything could go wrong for Chandrachur Singh. But luck wasn’t on his side, it seems.
His appearances post that in movies like Kya Kehna and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa among others were sporadic and mostly unnoticed.

He said that downfall wasn’t easy for him.
“A lot of people feel that I got films like Maachis and Tere Mere Sapne just like that. Mujhe aise hi kaam nahi mile tha! I came to Mumbai in 1988 and assisted Mahesh Bhatt, and I had to struggle a lot before I got the break. There were some big films from which I was replaced at the last moment. Fighting through that phase gave me a lot of inner strength and made me a tough person. For someone whose entry in the film industry was so difficult, handling the downfall was much easier. I utilized my time very constructively, watching world cinema, reading books and listening to classical music,” he in an interview.
From hero to character roles, Chandrachur Singh showed his versatility through distinct roles through his career. Be it a militant in an off-beat movie like Maachis or a die-hard romantic role in movies like Kya Kehna, he proved his mettle and caught people’s fancy. In a short span of time, he won millions of hearts.
