Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended a special screening of the much-talked-about ‘Emergency’ in Nagpur, hosted by actor-director #KanganaRanaut and #AnupamKher.

Directed by Kangana, Emergency plunges deep into one of India’s most controversial and turbulent chapters, an era when democracy was suspended, and the nation stood at a crossroads. With Kangana’s commanding portrayal of Indira Gandhi and a stellar cast featuring Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan among others, the outing takes viewers on an intense political journey, exploring the high-stakes battle between unchecked power and the soul of democracy itself.

Talking about his experience Nitin Gadkari shared a post on his social media where he wrote,” Joined the special screening of the movie Emergency, featuring @KanganaTeam Ji and Shri @AnupamPKher Ji, in Nagpur today. I wholeheartedly thank the filmmakers and actors for presenting the dark chapter of our nation’s history with such authenticity and excellence. I urge everyone to watch this film, which portrays a significant period in India’s history.”

https://x.com/nitin_gadkari/status/1878138700330303556?s=46&t=BISLL4nA21jmIC7DDSR0yg

Responding to his wish Kangana wrote,” Thank you so much for your precious time sir ”

https://x.com/KanganaTeam/status/1878144119652098470

Nitin Gadkari was visibly floored by the film’s authentic narrative and the gripping performances. Emergency’s attention to detail, its nuanced portrayal of pivotal moments in history, and its exploration of political maneuvering clearly struck a chord with the leader.

Written and directed by Kangana herself, Emergency delves into one of the most controversial periods in Indian history. The film also boasts a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in his final on-screen performance.
Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti, Emergency promises to be a cinematic spectacle. With music by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar, and dialogues penned by the acclaimed Ritesh Shah, the film is set to hit the theaters on 17th January 2025.

Mumbai: The new Elphinstone bridge was built by Army’s Bombay Sappers. The 73.1 m long and 3.65 m wide bridge was built in just 117 days, at a cost of ₹ 10.44 Crore approx. Contrastingly on November 16, the Railways wrote to BMC seeking Rs 17 crore for carrying out the demolition work on Gokhale bridge on their territory. Civic officials said that the amount will be disbursed this week.

A TEAM of engineers from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) bridges department, along with technical experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (Mumbai) and Veermata Jijabai Institute of Technology (VJTI), inspected the structural stability of the Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge on Sunday morning (20 Nov) to check if the structure could be reopened temporarily for pedestrians and light vehicles till the time it is demolished.

The officials said that the reports will be submitted by the institutions within the next 7-10 days, following which, a final call would be taken on reopening the bridge temporarily. Mr Lodha also floated the idea of reopening the bridge temporarily for pedestrians, two wheelers and auto rickshaws, for smooth traffic flow, till the bridge is demolished entirely.

“The technical survey is being carried out by the agencies to check if the structure is strong enough to take the load of pedestrians and light vehicles. After the VJTI report comes, we will compare it with the IIT report and then, shall make a decision. We need to be doubly sure before taking the call because human lives are involved and the smallest of error could lead to an untoward event,” said an official.

On November 11, the guardian minister of Mumbai (Suburbs) Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the bridge will be demolished by the Railways, while the BMC will reconstruct it.

Meanwhile, the BMC floated a tender on November 12 for reconstructing the bridge. P Velrasu, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), said that the reconstruction work will be taken up on a war footing, since the civic body is planning to reopen one arm of the bridge by May 2023, and aims to completely start the newly constructed bridge by September 2023.

“This will be a prefabricated structure that will be constructed simultaneously at a workshop, while demolition work is on. Once the structure is ready, it will be brought on-site for assembling. We have already floated the tender and hoping to issue work orders by December first week,” Velrasu had said earlier.

The Gokhale Bridge is a major link that connects Andheri east and west in the western suburbs. The bridge was shut for both vehicular and traffic movement from November 7, onwards, after the civic body wrote to the Mumbai Traffic Police citing it to be unsafe. Also one more point to ponder is that the said bridge was partially closed after a mishap in 2020 and no concrete decision was taken by the authorities. It should be enquired into.

It is to be taken into consideration that closure of Gokhale bridge has put extra load on other bridge, viz Capt Gore bridge at Vile Parle, which too connects east and west side of Vile Parle. It is observed that the said bridge is bearing double/triple load of vehicles. Also most of the times the vehicles are stuck in traffic jams on the bridge itself. So the decision to shut down Gokhale bridge will be detrimental on the health of Capt Gore bridge.

Additionally there’s vehicular load on Santacruz’s Milan Flyover bridge too. Traffic congestion is experienced throughout the day here which also leads to noise pollution. The said bridge too will be facing trouble, just like Capt Gore bridge, in future if the current vehicular load is not looked into.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday criticised states which have insisted on coronavirus testing of migrant workers before taking them back, terming it is a “cruel and inhuman” stand. An editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ also criticised the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, saying it brought back students from Kota in Rajasthan without any testing “since they were rich”, while train fares were charged from the poor.

The Sena praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s decision asking her state party units to bear the cost of the train fare of migrant workers returning home. Workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh migrate mostly to Maharashtra and Gujarat, it noted.

“Till yesterday, these workers were the vote bank of political parties and leaders, as if Mumbai and Maharashtra have been built on the hard work of these migrant workers. These people are running away in times of crisis and their political mentors have turned them away,” the Sena said.

It alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government made a “u-turn” on taking back migrant workers and put stringent conditions for them, including that they be tested for coronavirus before return.

“This stand of states is cruel and against humanity,” the Sena said. It also accused the Uttar Pradesh government of “rich-poor bias”.

“Hundreds of buses were sent to Kota to bring students back to Uttar Pradesh without any testing since they were rich. For poor, rail ticket fares were charged,” the Marathi daily said.

The Sena said migrant labourers stuck in different parts of Maharashtra have to face a new ordeal now. Maharashtra looked after them well but they want to go home while their home state is not ready to take them.

It praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s decision asking her state party units to bear the cost of the train fare of migrant workers returning home. This was done on humanitarian grounds, the Sena said.

“Migrant workers are not cats and dogs. But their native states are not showing humanity,” it said.

The Sena said Union minister Nitin Gadkari has rightly pointed out that “migrant labourers may run away from Maharashtra but what will they eat in their home state”.” – COVID-19 crisis: Shiv Sena all praise for Sonia Gandhi on train fare decision, slams Yogi Adityanath

The post CM Udhav Thackeray: Slams Yogi Adityanath “U-Turn” On Taking Back Migrant Workers And Praises For Sonia Gandhi On Train Fare Decision first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

New Delhi: Public transport, which has been shut since the first lockdown announcement on March 24, may soon be in operation, roadways minister Nitin Gadkari assured transporters on Wednesday.

Opening of transport and highways will go a long way in instilling confidence among the public, said the minister, adding that public transport may open soon with some guidelines.

He, however, cautioned towards maintaining social distance and adopting all safety measures like hand wash, sanitising, face masks, etc while operating buses and cars.

The minister was addressing the members of Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India through video conferencing.

The nationwide lockdown, necessitated by the coronavirus outbreak, is in place till May 17. No railway, flight services are allowed in this period.

However, the railways did run over 100 Shramik Special trains to ferry stranded migrants.

Gadkari expressed confidence that the country and its industry will together win both the battles – the one with coronavirus, and the one with economic slowdown.

Members of the confederation made suggestions for improving the condition of public transport which include extending interest payment exemptions, restarting public transport, extending age life limit, deferring state taxes, extending MSME benefits, extending insurance policy validity, etc.

The post Roadways Minister Nitin Gadkari Assured Public Transport May Open Soon With Some Guidelines first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Mumbai: Highway developer IRB Infrastructure said it had resumed toll collection across all its road projects from April 25 midnight.

The toll operations, which had been suspended in the wake of the ongoing lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, has been resumed following a directive from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

In a statement announcing the resumption of toll collection, IRB Infrastructure said: “We are pleased to have the directives from nodal agencies to resume toll operations. This seems to be a positive sign for the sector, with an indication leaning towards restoration of normalcy in phased manners for the nation. We are proud to be part of the revival path.”

IRB operates 50 toll plazas across the country through its project special purpose vehicles (SPVs).

The IRB Infrastructure statement added that the company will be taking all necessary measures at its toll booths to stave off the potential spread of coronavirus. The statement added that the company has provided adequate masks, sanitizers, hand gloves, etc. to its employees manning the toll plazas.
