Prime Video’s festive lineup for the Great Indian Festival 2023 includes ‘P.I. Meena’!

Prime Video today unveiled the captivating trailer of its upcoming crime-detective series P.I. Meena. Created by Arindam Mitra and directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya, the Amazon Original series features Tanya Maniktala in the titular role, along with Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Jisshu Sengupta, Vinay Pathak, and Zarina Wahab in pivotal roles. The eight-episode series will premiere exclusively in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide on November 3 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. P.I. Meena is the latest addition to the Prime membership.

The trailer prepares viewers for a mysterious journey, as Private Investigator Meenakshi Iyer aka P.I. Meena (essayed by Tanya Maniktala) goes down the rabbit hole of a conspiracy that is tearing apart the worlds of anyone that nears it. When the young and troubled Meena begins to investigate an accident that she was a witness to, her life goes into an upheaval. Little does she realize that she would get entangled deeper into a conspiracy than she could have ever imagined. Yet, determined to solve the case, the young investigator tries to unravel the web of mysteries, which leaves her right in the middle of a whirlwind of deception and an unexpected virus breakout.

Talking about her role, lead actor Tanya Maniktala said, “I feel blessed to have the confidence of Arindam Mitra and Debaloy Bhattacharya to play the lead in such an intriguing series. While it has been challenging, the role of Meenakshi Iyer has truly been enriching for me as an actor, undergoing countless hours of preparation to be able to do justice to not only the character but also the riveting story. P.I. Meena is very different from what I have done in the past. Her determination to fight for what’s right, her emotional overdrive and the nuances of her persona are what convinced me to not miss on the opportunity to play her. The trailer is only a glimpse of the story that will take the audience for a rollercoaster ride when they watch the series and enjoy the captivating performances, the mastery in direction of Debaloy, and the perfectly crafted story, keeping them hooked till the very end.”

Non-smoker Nikhil Bhambri had to smoke 10-15 cigarettes a day for ‘Black widows‘

Nikhil Bhambri who essays ‘Jahaan Sardesai’ in ZEE5’s ‘Black Widows’ is all set to showcase his new avatar in the series. The actor learnt a lot while shooting with co actors like Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee, Shamita Shetty, Sharad Kelkar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Raima Sen, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Aamir Ali. The actor who just returned from Kolkata says, “He had a torrid time while filming smoking scenes.”

Talking about the same the actor said, “My character is a smoker and in real life I am a non-smoker. It was extremely difficult for me to shoot the smoking scenes. As I had never smoked before, I had to give a lot of retakes to get the shot right. Also, during a lot of shots, I coughed and had to redo it. I had to smoke almost 10-15 cigarettes a day.”

Adding further he said, “The excessive smoking took a toll on my health and the next day I used to have a bad stomach upset and vomiting. It seemed like the entire energy had been drained out of me, but still I continued with my shoot and completed my scenes.

Director Bisra and the entire crew were very supportive and understanding which also helped in the shoot going smoothly.

The film is structured around Khelechi (a Senegalese football player) and Raju’s (taxi driver) adventure in the city. The trailer will tell the audience how the narrative will move from one error leading to another situation when PK’s (the drug lord) men accidentally pick up the wrong African guy from the airport. Khelechi has arrived in India with a football laden with narcotics, in a bid to save his dying mother back home. That’s when the adventure of Khelechi and Raju begins. But the question is, will Raju succeed in convincing Khelechi in taking part the biggest football game in the city? Or will home ridden and lost Khelechi finally escape from the drug lords to make his way back to Africa?

‘Tiki-Taka’ will star Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Raju, who is a street-smart cabbie catering to his own whims and Saswata Chatterjee will be seen in a comic role of a drug lord named PK who is heir to a long-forgotten feudal family, a man known for his love of beetle-leaf and humming instead of talking.

The film will also star Emona Enabulu as Khelechi, Ritabhari Chakraborty as Bonnie in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay and is produced by his company Roadshow films along with Shri Ratan Nirman and Ten Films. It is written by Rohan Ghose and Shouvik Banerjee.

Tiki-Taka stands for a style of play in football and the film’s story is synonymous to Khelechi’s adventure in India which is characterized by its situational mess and inadequate accidents.

Tiki-Taka is set to premiere on 11th September 2020 on ZEE5.
