This includes thousands of Preventive Masks and Personal Preventive Equipment (PPE) kits: Surgeon Gowns, Face Masks, Gloves, Preventive Eye wear, Hood Cap and Shoe Covers. The Company has also equipped hospitals and at other healthcare facilities with a large number of Infra-red Thermometers and Public Address systems. Along with these, Air Purifiers that are vital to improve the ambient air quality in medical facilities, have also been provided.

In Noida, and in two districts of in Tamil Nadu, Samsung has also supported the local administration, local police and migrant workers with daily essentials such as food packets and grocery. Deliveries of Digital X-ray and Digital Ultrasound machines that Samsung provides to government hospitals as part of its Samsung Smart Healthcare citizenship program were also hastened. The most recent deliveries of the equipment have been to hospitals in Noida, Rajkot and Pune that have been designated as Covid-19 facilities. The Samsung Digital X-ray and Digital Ultrasound machines have aided in quick diagnostics.

A source from the BMC informs that, away from the limelight, Kumar has been quietly offering help to the local authorities. Through his social media videos, Akshay has been creating awareness about social distancing and the need to stay home. When it came to his notice that India, like other countries, is racing to produce PPE to meet the rising demand, he pitched in financial support.

“Confirming the actor’s contribution, Ashutosh Salil, BMC joint municipal commissioner, says, “A few days ago, Mr Kumar got in touch with the BMC commissioner [and made the donation]. We are happy that the actor is doing his bit. We have been ensuring that funds don’t get stuck in multiple procedures as we can’t afford delays. The money donated by him will go into the general fund that will be used for [the production of] PPE, masks, gloves and rapid testing kits.”

I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai.”

Along with Akshay Kumar, there was also an announcement made by ace filmmaker, T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar that he will also take part in this cause by pledging to donate a sum of Rs. 11 crores to the organization founded by our PM. Bhushan Kumar wrote on his Twitter account, “Today, we are all at a really crucial stage & it’s extremely important to do all we can to help. I, along with my entire @TSeries family pledge to donate Rs. 11 crores to the PM-CARES Fund. We can & will fight this together, Jai Hind Flag of India @PMOIndia @narendramodi #IndiaFightsCorona”
