Prateik is both a director’s actor and sometimes also shares his own inputs. “I also like to do my own thing but if a particular director has some particular vision about the character which I am playing, I really like to do it according to his vision and guidance. The young actor revealed that he is going to keep it simple yet classy, and said, “My dream house will have a sea-facing view where I can chill peacefully. It will be in a less crowded area away from the hullabaloo of the city . But it’s definitely going to be on the top floor. He doesn’t get affected by them. “We don’t only face trolling on social networking sites, but in person as well. So I have always learnt to avoid them and focus on the good,” he said.

He feels that social media has revolutionised our life and lifestyle. “It has majorly affected our life and lifestyle. In 24 hours, people mostly spend 18 hours on social media which is actually not correct. Instead of focusing on good and concentrating on other things, we are wasting our time, energy and also affecting our health, eyes and brain. I think this should come to an end or should be minimised,” he said.

People follow celebrities and emulate them, especially via social media so it is a huge responsibility, but everyone is not taking it seriously. “I understand as an actor that we represent or people look at us and follow us. So it’s very important to give good messages to the audience if you’re an actor, influencer or a blogger. You should not convey bad messages to the audience as they follow us. In my social media account also, I pretty much take the cake of it and try to convey positive messages, motivate everyone, especially the youth by fitness videos. I also put motivational quotes and show my workaholic spirit. I show them that if I can make it, anyone can make it,” he said.

The number of followers has become an obsession with almost every person. “Yes, it has, but it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t believe in all these things. I believe that one should be real in real life, work hard, and maintain relations in real life with family and friends and not just with fake numbers on Instagram to get attention or prove their existence,” he said.

The world of social media is fake, everyone says so but at the same time everyone wants attention on social media. Asked if he thinks it is double standard, he said, “Maybe yes. Some use social networking sites for work purposes, some use it to show off, it’s just if one is not harming the other person, you can do whatever you want.”

Social media has become an ego massaging tool and it is disturbing the regular life of actors as everyday they need to put up new content. “Yes, it’s a little hectic. I’m an actor and I know how much pressure we get to put everyday on something or the other, along with my 12-14 hours shoot. So being active on social networking sites along with my regular shoot gets tiring and disturbing, but I can do anything to make my fans happy and stay connected with them as they really wait for my content, so I started getting DMs. I just want to make my fans happy because in the end, I am what I am because of them,” he said.

“Madhavi Ji played the role of my grandmother in the show. She was a wonderful human being. I shared a good rapport with him. In fact, our grandmother and grandson relationship felt real both on and off-screen. We would talk after pack-up, and her stories were so fascinating. I remember her telling me about her love for music and interest in singing. I have learned so much for me, still can’t believe that I won’t be able to see her again,” he says.

Prateik recalls how about 20 days back she wasn’t keeping well healthwise and took a break from shooting for a few days.

When she left the show, we were sad but thought she will be back soon once she recovers. No one was expecting her to leave us suddenly. It’s difficult to believe because just a few days back I was still shooting with her,” adds the actor.

The actor shares that Ashwin’s character is much similar to him. “Ashwin, like me, is chilled out, positive, fun, very attached to family, loves his family a lot, super cool guy. We both dress similarly and our tastes are in a way similar. So I don’t know if I am playing Ashwin or myself only, because both are quite the same but not in totality,” he adds.

Prateik is enjoying playing the role so much that even night shoots do not tire him. “Even during the day shift, things get really tiring. We hardly get time for other activities, but we are here to work, so no complaints. I am happy. I don’t want to rest. I want to keep working like this forever. Even if I hardly get any sleep, it doesn’t matter. Work is worship for me,” he says.

What is the best compliment you got for your performance so far? “Many said that they really liked how I portray the character. For Ashwin, they wanted someone fun, charming, good performer for their parallel lead, so on the set from directors, creatives, everyone like the way I have been performing. So, I am really glad that I have been able to do justice. I hope I am able to continue working like this and get more compliments,” he laughs softly.
