While many B-town celebrities are being featured in music videos, Khatija Iqbal’s new music video ‘Yaaron Rab Se Dua Karo’ is releasing soon. The actress seems to be delighted and all excited for her big release, she says, “Shooting for Yaaro Rab Se Dua Karo was adventurous, almost like a movie, many last-minute changes and obstacles were faced during the shoot because of the weather and the sudden lockdown announcement.”

She even opened up about her experience with Tseries, she says “Working with the T-series team was very professional and they ensured a safe shooting environment. I am very happy to be associated with such a great team like T-series. My director Ashish panda sir & team worked very hard and my co-actor Gaurav and singer Akhil Sachdeva were amazing. We had a lot of fun!”. Khatija Iqbal further added by explaining about the shoot and song, she says, “Yaaro Rab Se Dua Karo is a triangle love story coming up on 29th June, I am super duper excited for this. We shot at a Brilliant location like Mussoorie. it was an adventurous road-trip kind of shoot. Looking forward to many collaborations with T-series further.”

On the work front, Khatija Iqbal is going to be a part of the famous show ‘Inside Edge Season 3’ on Amazon Prime. The actress will also be seen as a lead debutant in the film which will be releasing this year and the announcements shall be made soon.

Khatija said her aim is to be part of good projects and play characters that would make her grow as a performer. “I thrive for that each time I audition, to give my 100 percent. I want to do my best, flourish and be recognized as an excellent performer,” she says. She believes an actor should pick up or reject a project as per their individual choice and not be worried about the outcome.

“You need to know what you want and what you don’t want to do, once you have that vision clear then nothing is against you. You have to be wise enough to choose your projects as per your priorities, it can be tricky sometimes if it’s a battle between survival vs career,” she says, adding she likes to play tough and strong women characters.

Talking about her process of getting into the skin a character, Khatija says, she likes to bring her own take and nuances to a character, however at the same time she is also director’s actor.

For Khatija it is not easy to get in and out of a character. “It takes me time and a million questions to reach there but I eventually do. I admire theatre actors as they can switch on and off in any minute,” he adds.

The actor, who has acted across all mediums – film, web and TV, says she has learnt lessons from her own mistakes. Sharing a piece of advice for newcomers, Khatija says they must remain focused and keep working hard.

“As an outsider it all seemed fascinating to me and I have made terrible choices but I have learnt and now I know what I want! Maybe god wants you to learn that way so you never ever make foolish choices,” she adds.

“Read, research, practice, everything is online, all the information needed is available. Just remain focused and keep working hard. Keep a small group of friends but make sure they are the right friends,” she suggests.

However, she says that it’s important to present yourself in the right manner. “I think it is important how you are presenting yourself. If you get this right, you will get the right attention which wouldn’t make your followers think you are fake or vice versa,” she says.

Khatija isn’t someone who is very comfortable with posting personal pictures but doesn’t mind doing it at times. “I go through that dilemma all the time as I am quite reserved in that matter. But sometimes, I feel that you have a wonderful audience to cater to and why not just dress up! Pose and post!” she says.

Ask her who she loves to follow on social media, and she says, “I follow a couple of them for a number of different reasons, health, fashion, travels, so I don’t really have a favourite. I feel that social media is a great platform to showcase the great qualities and talent of a new artist and performer. It’s all up to you and what you want to achieve from your audience.”

“If not an actor I would’ve finished my business studies and go on to become an entrepreneur but I’m glad I didn’t. Entrepreneurship is easy, acting isn’t, and what I’ve learned through acting, my school did not teach me,” she added.

She also admitted that though she did not have inspiration at first, she was motivated by the work of actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpayee, Tabu, and Konkona Sen Sharma. She added, “They inspired me to tell the truth as an actor on the most honest and deepest level possible with a touch of your personality because that’s what makes you an excellent actor.”

The “Namaste England” actress confessed that she had her share of struggle in the industry, but added, “I won’t call it a struggle anymore, I would say it was like a school teaching me how to become better each day and that’s all I strive for. So there was a struggle, but in a great way!”

Khatija has also been a part of shows like “Yeh Hai Chahatein”, and “Jamai 2.0”, but confessed that her favourite role was in “Ragini MMS: Returns”. She said, “Playing Sonia Sehgal in the show was my favourite because it was more like myself – bossy, cute, funny – and it was very easy for me to pull off. I enjoyed it the most.”

She will also be seen in “Inside Edge: 3”. Talking about it, she said, “It’s a no-nonsense show with a great cast and excellent team and it was an honour to work with such hardcore film professionals who know their jobs. I have a cameo appearance in the show. I play a mysterious woman who enters a building and hacks into the system to make a betting deal come through.”

Khatija’s bikini pictures have set the internet on fire quite often, asked her the secret to her gorgeous body, she said, “It’s simple, eat on time, sleep on time, wake up early, eat just enough and right and then do the exercise that makes you happy! And just live your life.”

But do you think twice before sharing your pictures or videos on social media? “I used to but now I just post for myself as it helps me discover why I want to show what I’m showing and it’s not just about being hot, but confidence too. As a performer how comfortable I am in my skin to be out there,” she concluded.

Sharing her views on whether we started with making a lot of bold content, she said, “Yes! It was quite a pathetic strategy because it only lasts a certain period. Some channels are already shutting down and I’m glad they are, after all, it’s a form of education you’re spreading.”

Khatija also confessed that OTT was introduced a bit late in India, and added, “It’s like wildfire now playing on everyone’s mobile phone. Given an option, I would choose OTT any day as it has a wider audience and besides these days all the films are released on OTT platforms after a theatrical release.”

The “Namaste England” actress also stated that she would prefer playing grey characters over others. She said, “I feel it really connects with the audience after all, everybody has something going on inside them, so why can’t a character help them understand themselves.”

What kind of roles are you looking forward to doing now? “I want to do action roles like playing a badass cop with fighting skills, and also comedy, romance, nerdy roles, and stuff that’s close to my nature or point-blank mean,” Khatija concluded.
