Reflecting on what drew her to Battleground, Rubina Dilaik shared, “The moment they told me it was a mentorship role, I didn’t even think twice before saying yes. That word mentor lit something powerful in me, as lately, I’ve felt this deep desrire to nurture, to guide and support. And the idea of being able to help someone grow, to walk beside them on their journey, just felt right. I knew this was my calling, and I had to do it.”

Opening up about what mentorship truly means to her, she explained, “Mentorship isn’t about handing out instructions — it’s about helping someone recognize their strengths, understand their challenges, and grow from within. For me, it’s more about unlocking potential than laying down rules. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who shaped my life, and now, I want to be that person for someone else. There’s real joy in empowering others.”

Reflecting on team dynamics and mentorship space, Shikhar Dhawan shared, “In cricket, and just like on this show, teamwork is everything. I knew from the start that some of our mentors were a bit hot-headed— passionate but fierce, so I had to approach them with patience and empathy. I remember when I first came in, it took us a couple of hours to really connect. But once that bond was built, I knew they’d listen. That trust allowed me to share my experiences, even step in when needed. There was a moment recently when one mentor crossed a line, and I gently encouraged them to apologize. It’s about creating a balance and letting them be themselves, but also stepping in if I feel something needs to be addressed. I don’t shy away from that.”

Speaking about the mindset he hopes to instill in the contestants, he added, “If there’s one thing that cricket has taught me, it’s that consistency, discipline, and thinking big are non-negotiable. But at the same time, staying relaxed and focused is equally important. That mix is crucial. The results won’t always go your way, you’ll fail sometimes, but what defines a champion is the ability to get back up and keep moving forward. That’s the mindset I hope they carry with them after the show ends.”

Recounting the horror she has been put through, she says, “I have been abused so much. I was asked in an interview about him, where I said that I used to like Rajat, but I don’t anymore. And I said that I don’t think he will win. I think he is using violence a bit too much.”

She adds, “His followers started to troll me and how. They abused me so much. You should see the way I have been abused. I have been told that I should die. I cannot even repeat those abuses. I never said anything wrong, I just gave my opinion. Then later, I was in another press conference, I was asked again. This time, I said that I give an open challenge that if he wins, I will leave acting and I will become a producer. But the last part of my quote was left out when my words were repeated.”

The actress says that it was not fair that she was abused for stating her mind. “I was abused so much just because I felt that he should not win. I was sure that no audience would support such violence on the show,” she says.
