“I feel lucky to have the women that I have in my life. My partner is just amazing, and I have so much love and respect for her. I feel that if you are in a relationship, respect should be prioritised before love. If you love a person, but have no respect for them, the relationship becomes meaningless. I owe a lot to my partner. She helped me broaden my perspective on life. She helped me see life in full HD, by being in the present. She also gave me the courage to make my dreams a reality and to keep working towards them,” he said.

Ranaksh also gave due credit to his mother and confessed that it’s because of his mom that he became an actor and is able to fulfill his dreams. He said, “And how can I forget to mention the woman who brought me into this world, my mother. When I told her that I wanted to be an actor, she told me that an actor has to be genuinely a good person. They need to be patient, work hard, and set an example for people who look up to them. It’s because of her love, support, and blessings that I am able to make my dreams a reality.”

He feels that a woman should be made to feel special every day, because of the sacrifices and compromises they make for others. “From their partners or spouses, to kids, parents, in-laws, friends, and extended family, a woman looks after everyone’s well-being. She is concerned about everyone, even if no one in the world is in her favour. I know this might sound old-school, but believe you me, a woman knows how to make someone’s day, be it by buying something special for them, cooking their favourite meal, or even taking them out. A woman knows the way to everyone’s heart,” he said.

But what is the way to a woman’s heart? “You know, contrary to the popular belief that women don’t know what exactly they want or that they want everything, I feel at the end of the day, all a woman wants is to be respected and accepted for who they are. They just want people around them to understand their perspective. That’s it. And I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for,” he said.

Speaking on the work front, Ranaksh also stressed that gender equality at the workplace is also becoming a reality. He said, “People are becoming more and more aware. They do not shy away from starting the conversation, and that’s a good start. I feel deep conditioning has to be questioned, which can only happen by being aware and being open to a better way of living,” he ended.

Excited about his web debut, the actor adds, “Getting such an interesting and important role for my OTT debut is just an incredible feeling. My expectations are huge, I have the will and wish to push and make a name for myself as an artist. Ranaksh left his corporate career for acting. With a show like Ballia Kand coming his way, it seems things are finally moving in the right direction for him.

“Acting was always my calling. From being a banker to an actor has been an interesting journey and I’m living my dream. Of course I did learn a lot in sales and even when I was doing corporate jobs, I would do theatre. I have done plays for around four years and theatre was the beginning of my visible love for acting. It showed me what this profession can provide in terms of the satisfaction of being an artist and the thrill of pushing yourself beyond limits. Now to be able to do that on screen and that too for a web series with an important character is quite fulfilling. I feel my preparation to be an actor had started in my life much earlier than I realised. Life itself has been a preparation. I have learnt a lot since the day I decided to be an actor and constant exploration has been my style,” he shares.

About the kinds of roles he is looking for, the actor says, “I recently attended a 12-day experiential workshop by Neeraj Kabi sir and that has weaved all my experiences through the right techniques as a perpetual preparation for acting. I would like to see myself playing roles that challenge me as an actor. I’m quite keen on doing both negative and comic roles. I feel it’s important to explore the range of emotions to grow as an actor.”

Multiple mediums are co-existing and these days audiences have too many options to choose from. The reason why viewership is scattered, feels the actor.

“Yes, viewership is scattered but that’s an opportunity, not a challenge. If you do good groundwork and a sound analysis about what kind of target audience you wish to cater to, there is enough demographic data to help you navigate the overwhelming numbers of mediums and respective choices,” he adds.

The pace of working is very fast in all industries including entertainment and that is somewhere causing the unsaid mental fatigue. Ranaksh feels that is how life in general has become in the cities.

“An increase in opportunities means an increase in competition. Parallelly, the human race has become ambitious and passionate to realise their potential. That’s a good thing, right? The problem happens when one lacks clarity and gets overwhelmed. It is important to be balanced, whether it is about the amount of work you take on or the way you work,” he says.

On whether he has faced mental fatigue or not and how he manages the scenario personally, the actor adds, “I think one has to draw the line when it comes to stretching oneself mentally and physically. If you do the work you love doing, it won’t cause mental fatigue. If you find value in what you are investing time in, you won’t feel tired but at the same time, realising the importance of mental and physical health and not losing yourself in the process of doing anything is very important. Accepting it to begin with and taking action at the right time is crucial. That’s how I function.”

Amid the Covid scenario there is no personal time left. Professional life is more time consuming than before.

“I feel this is valid only for people who switched to work-from-home mode. There were entire industries struggling to work and faced the opposite of it. The truth is that the non-working stress is more than the working stress. We always have reason to complain about what’s not working but I think the perspective has to shift to that of gratitude.
Having said that, yes, I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for me-time when their work took over their home. Life as we know has changed overnight and it was a major shift in the work culture and team culture. It took some time but conscious actions have been taken by individuals and companies to ensure that doesn’t happen,” he ends.

The actor says that “positive vibe and mindset has been the key to growth”. He adds, “I strongly believe that life is all about transactions. If nature has taught us this, how can we forget it and expect good things if we do or think about bad things? Not just actions but your intentions should also be pure. There has to be a basic trust in humanity. Those who don’t trust, always find excuses. It should be a journey within.”

Ranaksh started believing in higher power when he started unlocking his mental strength. “When I started seeing how the law of attraction plays out in real life again and again, I felt spirituality. The actor prays daily. “I just pray in my own words as the Sanskrit shloka taught us – Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Bhavantu Niraamaya. That everyone should be happy, healthy and those who are lost, should find their way and sanity. I am at peace when people around me are at peace. And my philosophy of life is to continue with this journey,” he shares his thoughts.

Ranaksh follows Shrimad Bhagvad Gita. “I believe that it is not a Hindu philosophy. It is for humanity in general. There is a reason why it is called Manav Matra Shastra meaning for the entire mankind. Gita has taught me that all the battles are inside our head and that if our deeds should be good, results follow. I have been practicing the teachings of Gita since childhood, but lately I have been also following Sadhguru. I like the way he gives different perspectives to different things in life,” he adds.

Pandemic has made the world compassionate and spiritual. “I’ve always been grateful for the support I’ve received during my difficult times and I have tried to do my part whenever possible. I just continued doing that during the pandemic as well. Covid did bust a lot of myths in our lives and brought us together. It has made us more humble,” he says.

Talking about his idea of peace and happiness, Ranaksh adds, “Peace comes from within. Peace doesn’t mean being quiet, but being in control of your mind. It’s a state of happiness that can never be disrupted. Like in the movie Kung Fu Panda 2, Po finds inner peace by accepting things. To realise that problem is a part of life, and that life as a whole has to be accepted, makes things easy and peaceful. When you become grateful about the fact that you are alive, start taking every moment as a gift, you feel happier. Even simple things can make us happy. If you can bring a smile to one person’s face, your happiness will double.”

As for food, makki ki roti and sarso ka saag are his favourite food items during the winter season. “That’s a perfect high protein dish with great flavours. And if you cook it in olive oil, you get omega 3 as well! A good combination of nutrition and taste. What more can you ask for?”

For him, work is very interesting and that’s why working for long hours is not necessarily tiring. “So even if there’s no long holiday, it’s fine with me. I try to integrate my life and work, instead of trying to find a balance between work and life. It’s all about mindset. Work itself can become relaxing if you truly enjoy it,” he said. According to him, there are many getaway options around Mumbai. “I prefer any place that is green and quiet,” he shared.

Love means different things to different people at different stages of life. It’s not just romantic love, we all need human love too, he feels.

“Love is between friends, siblings, towards your pets – even if it’s a snake! Not all love needs to be romantic love. Romantic love is just one of the expressions of love. But the bottom line is love towards yourself. Because if you can’t love yourself, how will you love anyone else?”

Asked if he feels the way social media has blurred the lines between real and fake, is it hard to find love, he said, “The trick is not to get confused about what’s real because in love, there’s no pretence. If you are pretending on social media and portraying something that’s not there, you will for sure have to show your true self to the person you love. Only then can it be a sustainable and genuine partnership.”

According to him, you make time for those you want to. “Everyone is busy in life, you have to be to keep growing. But you must also remember that you are busy so that you have a better life with your loved ones. Priorities should not change, however busy you might get,” said the model.

Love for him is one of the most real things. “How can something you feel so deeply be an illusion? Will you ever call a mother’s love an illusion? If it feels like an illusion, it is not real love.
Many say it is, but not for me,” he said.

“It is something that makes its presence visible – through actions, touch, vibe or just the eyes. If you force the feeling, it might remain as an illusion but you can’t force the feeling of love. If your feelings are unforced and unconditional, then it can’t be an illusion. It becomes a force that drives mutual growth,” he added.

It is often said that celebrities are always chasing name and fame, and they don’t find any love, be it romantic or human love. “My view here is to see acting as a profession, as a part of life. Beyond that, even celebrities have their own lives. Name and fame will follow you if you are good at what you do. It’s a part of the job,” he said.

Finding love is a completely different aspect of life, according to him.

“Love can be found by anyone – you just need to find it and hold on to it.
Another perspective is, name and fame – that’s also a quest to find love, isn’t it? So if you don’t have love in your life, in whatever form – towards yourself, your family, friends, partners, nature, everything around you – how will you handle the love that comes from outside through name and fame?”

People follow celebrities and emulate them, especially via social media so it is a huge responsibility, but everyone is not taking it seriously.

“With any great power comes great responsibility, we all know. That holds true here as well. If you can positively influence your followers with good content, you have the power to change their lives and make it better. It can be the smallest of things like hope, positivity, motivation to act or it can be practical tips in a particular area,” he said.

According to him, people get inspired by the focus on fitness, dressing sense, voice, face or anything that you work on and is your strength.

“But there are two main things to note here, being responsible doesn’t mean showcasing an ideal form. Nobody is perfect, which is why reality should be portrayed. Not an unrealistic standard that promotes anything fake. Secondly, a right social message should be the underlying intent,” he said.

The number of followers has become an obsession with almost every person. “There’s a deeper background to this. Why do people do it and not just what they do? Is it a need for external validation, fame, success or something entirely different? If someone wants fame to become a hero, they should not forget that talent and capability are required as foundations. Does buying followers give you the same satisfaction than organically connecting with people? Then you need to introspect a bit and be true to yourself,” he said.

The world of social media is fake, everyone says so, but at the same time, everyone wants attention on social media. “It’s a natural human tendency to feel good when appreciated.
So let’s just accept reality for how it is. You want to be accepted or liked or recognized or appreciated, and that’s why you are on social media or you might have another purpose altogether. The point is, you exist there for some reason,” he said.

The world of social media is being called fake because one becomes many, he shared.

“It’s the power of collective, of trends that’s the main aspect. If used right, it can create a social revolution. If not, it can also develop insane unreal standards of beauty, lifestyle and happiness. What you as an individual can do is not propagate it further and maintain your originality,” said Ranaksh.

Social media has become an ego massaging tool and it is disturbing regular lives of actors as everyday they need to put new content. “Not necessarily. There are so many great actors who are either not on social media or they keep doing digital detox.
The aim has to be clear. If it is about making money, then you’ll focus on more reach and you’ll do more engagement diligently. And there’s no harm in that. But if your aim is to boost your brand image and popularity, stay connected and be reachable to people who look up to you as an artist, there won’t be pressure linked to what you do on social media, it will be fun,” he suggested.

He thinks there will always be trollers. “When you are a public figure, it essentially means you are in front of the public and one becomes many.
You must learn how to ignore and not let others who don’t even have a face in front of you, affect you. Patience is a great virtue an actor should have and tolerance follows patience,” he said.

As for dealing with trolling, he said, “I don’t. I was in sales during my corporate stint and I have learned how to handle rejection through professional milestones. The trick is to pay attention to what you want in life and not pay attention to what doesn’t matter. I embrace my life as it is, and that is a powerful realization. That life is very colourful and whatever happens, teaches you something or the other. Living in the moment to the maximum and doing what you are supposed to do, is very satisfying. Why waste time on what you can’t control?”

“I have been a part of the corporate world, have been a fitness consultant and done sales in many different industries. But it was always my dream to be an artist. He feels that pandemic has changed the world overnight, so you can’t have a rigid plan for the future. “That will only lead to disappointment. I have a path and a road ahead and I want to keep going on it and work towards my goals and dreams,” he said.

“Every career is unique and equally interesting. Why you hear people in the entertainment industry talk about it more is because as an artist you are not living just one life. You have the gift to live multiple lives. But it also means that you have to prepare to play those multiple lives. If you lead your life 100% how a true artist should, you really won’t have any spare time. There’s so much to do, learn and upgrade yourself on. You have to focus on your body, skin, mind, voice, knowledge, body language, emotions and expressions. Possibilities are endless,” he explains.

Sundays or offs don’t feel like a holiday now. Thanks to communication tools like mobile phones and social media. “If we live more in reel world than real, then reality goes further away. The reel world has to be seen as a part of the real world. Not confused with the real world. The focus gets lost. In the rush for instant fame, efforts to compete and upgrade yourself gets side tracked. A real artist knows the value of working on their craft and that it takes time. Wherever you are, feel it. Don’t just click pictures for posting and putting filters. Click pictures, to capture that beautiful moment. Using it the right way, you can make all the difference,” he adds.

Ranaksh speaks more on social media. “If your life is simple, you are not living it to the fullest. Life is not simple. It is full of action and how beautiful it can be! If not social media, there would have been something else. Social media has changed the game. But, how and how much you use, it is up to you. If you want to become a trendsetter, don’t feel bad if you can’t keep up with the trends. Just keep working on your craft,” he says.

Everyone gets the same 24 hours, but sometimes that 24 hours don’t seem enough. On this note Ranaksh shares some time management tips.
“In my most active days, I have to go to the gym, practise acting and do voice exercises, find time for reading, ensure I get proper nutrition throughout the day, meditate and do yoga- on top of audition preps, meetings and classes. The point is, I have to maintain my calorie count. There is no other way. I don’t follow a chart. So my mantra is discipline and commitment. And second thing, I look at the outcome and not on a hard and fast time table. And these are tips that I can share,” he adds.
