A special screening of ‘Rang De Basanti’ to be held on it’s 20th Anniversary!

Directed by #RakeyshOmprakashMehra, Rang De Basanti is indeed one of the most influential films in Indian cinema, that redefined the landscape of filmmaking and socially driven storytelling. Released on January 26, 2006, Rang De Basanti completed 20 years of its theatrical journey this Republic Day. To mark the milestone, the makers are set to organize a special screening of the film for its cast and crew. The screening which is held on January 30 in Mumbai will be attended by Director Raykesh Omprakash Mehra, Aamir Khan, Siddharth Suryanarayan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Atul Kulkarni.

As a true cult classic, the film’s 20th anniversary celebration is sure to be a nostalgic moment for the entire team, who will relive their masterpiece after two decades. Rang De Basanti continues to hold a special place in our hearts, remaining irreplaceable for its fearless approach and its ability to evoke the spirit of patriotism.

Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, starred Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Siddharth Suryanarayan, Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Atul Kulkarni in key roles. It follows a group of carefree youngsters whose lives change while working on a documentary about freedom fighters. Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Reveals That ‘Rang De Basanti’ Was Banned Initially!

Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, is a landmark film that redefined Indian cinema and reshaped social cinema on screen. Released in 2006, the film completes 20 years on January 26 this year. Starring Aamir Khan alongside Sharman Joshi, Siddharth, and others, it struck a deep chord with audiences and sparked nationwide conversations, becoming one of the most defining films of its time.

Ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary, director #RakeyshOmprakashMehra reflected on the making of the film, the challenges it encountered upon its release from getting banned to how it was later perceived by former President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

Talking about the hurdles the film faced, the director revealed, “Rang De Basanti was also banned. We fought it out, ya and then finally the establishment saw the intention of the film. Infact the film was viewed by then Defence Minister Honourable Pranab Mukherjee. And the three heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in one theatre in Delhi, and then he went on to become the President of India. So, it had gone up to that level of, see, you don’t tell stories thinking about whether they will be allowed or not allowed, then stories will never come out.”

He further added, “If you think of a result and not the process, I think social cinema has always been there, will always be there, which picks up social issues and issues of the citizens and the society.”

Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, it starred Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, and Atul Kulkarni in key roles. The story follows a group of carefree Indian youngsters who get involved in a documentary on freedom fighters. Abhishek Banerjee is elated as two of his films are announced on the same day!

While the makers of ‘Helmet’ will be launching the hilarious trailer of the movie today, the creators of ‘Ankahi Kahaniya’ have launched its release date – September 17, 2021. It’s certainly a big feat for an actor to have two movie announcements in one day, that too diametrically opposite genres.

While ‘Helmet’ is a comedy drama that brings together the hit pairing of Abhishek and Aparshakti Khurrana post ‘Stree’, ‘Ankahi’ Kahaniya’ is high on emotions and promises to take viewers through winding paths of longing and love. Needless to say, an excited Abhishek took to his social media to share the news of his movie announcements with his followers and fans.

Abhishek informs, “‘Helmet’ was shot during pre-pandemic time with a lot of masti with friends and goof-ups on set and I believe it’s going to be a full-on entertainment. It’s been almost two years that I have been waiting for its release and I am really looking forward to it. On the other hand, ‘Ankahi Kahaniya’ is an emotional drama, which was shot just after the first lockdown and It was a complete different experience of shooting the film. I am very excited about having two announcements in one day. What else can an actor ask for?

Actor Kunal Kapoor turns producer, will produce a film on India’s Winter Olympian, #ShivaKeshavan!

#RangDeBasanti fame, #KunalKapoor is all set to launch his own production house and the actor has also selected the story he wants to tell through it, first.

In a recent interview with a leading daily, Kunal revealed the news saying, “I’ve been writing stories since my days as an assistant director. And I would love to bring those stories to life not only as an actor, but also as a producer and director. As an actor, you have little control over what stories you get a chance to tell. You can only choose from what you are offered and you’re part of someone else’s vision. But as a producer, you have a chance to bring your own vision to life.”

Kunal Kapoor will be working on the biopic of Shiva Keshavan, a six time Winter Olympian and the first Indian representative to compete in luge at the Winter Olympic Games also known as, ‘India’s Fastest Man on Ice.’

Talking about why he selected this story to tell, Kunal says, “He is an amazing athlete. What drew me to Shiva Keshavan was not only the fact that he has represented India in the Olympics six times, but that it was also a story about the spirit of India and the incredible things we manage to achieve with limited resources. It’s a story of resilience and the path less taken; it’s also a celebration of our culture and diversity.”

Kunal Kapoor has donned many hats, working on various projects in different capacities. He will be seen in the capacity of an actor in the upcoming show, The Empire, he is writing an unannounced project while the co-founder of Ketto has also now announced his production venture.

At the screening of the Kunal Kapoor starrer, Koi Jaane Na last night, Aamir Khan joined the team of the film. Post the screening Aamir was all praises for his Rang De Basanti co-star, Kunal Kapoor.

Post the screening of the film, Aamir was heard saying that he really liked the film, Koi Jaane Na for which he has also done a song. Amin is dear friend of his and he was worried how he has friend might have done in his debut project as a director before he saw it but was surprised at the amazing outcome, and how Amin has done a great job. The entertainer keeps you engaged throughout as its a murder mystery, has thrill, romance, songs and amazing actors.

As for Kunal Kapoor he said that Kunal has done a great job and he has also looked so good in the film, plus the romance between Kunal and Amyra is very good.

Aamir will be making a special appearance in the film with the song Har Funn Maula which reunited him and Kunal Kapoor on a set 15 years later, after Rang De Basanti.

Kunal has been on the receiving end of lots of praise as his director recently described what made Kunal the perfect choice for his debut film saying he suits the character to the T along with being the amazing person he is. Kunal will be returning to the big screens after his last release, Gold.

The Rang De Basanti star will be seen in the psychological thriller helmed by Amin Hajee in theatres from 2nd April opposite Amyra Dastur.
