“The upcoming track is full of twists. A lot of drama is on the way. Fans can also expect some cute romantic scenes between Darsh and Nandini,” she said about the show, which also stars Vijayendra Kumeria.

She feels that drama is the lifeline of a TV show. “A dramatic turn of events is what keeps the show alive. Why else would the audience look forward to watching a half an hour show everyday?”

“Since TV shows are meant to have a long life with daily telecasts, the only way to keep the entertainment alive is through drama,” she added.

The look of the character is important too. “The look is everything to start with. Even if the audience doesn’t relate to the storyline, they will relate to a character. And so l, the look is of utmost importance,” said Richa.

Viewers seem to love to watch the drama revolving around relationships and marriage. “Relationships and marriage supposedly take the centre stage in people’s lives at one point or another. And in a country where family ties hold an important space in an individual’s life, everyone relates to the drama that unfolds,” she said. In some of the TV shows, over the top drama attracts the audience and an extramarital affair or one man torn between two women or one woman torn between two man is shown. Does she think it reflects modern society?

“I think with social media becoming an inseparable part of our lives, some aspects of our lives have become more transparent and convenient. Connecting with people has become an effortless job. In that context, the nature of relationships has gone through a shift,” she said.

“I don’t think extramarital affair is exclusively a characteristic of modern society. They’ve always been a part of the human psyche and relationships. However, they’ve become more transparent and overt with a modern lifestyle,” she added.

Purvi Vyas (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha) – Rimjhim Gire Sawan from Manzil (1979) is my favourite rain song. I have many memories of my college days attached to this number. We all friends used to drive our two wheelers while listening or sing this song in the rain.

Milloni Kapadia (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha) – There are many monsoon songs that I like, be it Iktara (Wake Up Sid; 2009), Phir Le Aya Dil (Barfi; 2012), Mitti Di Khushboo (single by Ayushmann Khurrana; 2016), or Paani Da Rang (Vicky Donor; 2012). I really love the lyrics and vibes of these songs. There is some sort of a connect that I feel with these tracks.

Neelam Pathania (Qurbaan Hua) – My favourite rain song would be Aaj Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai (Loafer; 1973) by Mohammed Rafi ji. This song always touches my heart and lifts my mood.

Bharat Pahuja (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha) – It would be Aaj Rapat Jaye Toh because it features two legendary actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Smita Patil. This is an evergreen song from the film Namak Halaal (1982). The other rain song that I like is Tip Tip Barsa Paani (Mohra; 1994) starring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon Thadani. These songs make you fall in love all over again.

Richa Rathore (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha) – It has to be Zara Zara Behekta Hai from the film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001). The visuals of the video and the background score is such that it gives a very cozy and soothing feel to the song. My favourite lines from the song are, ‘Yuhi Baras Baras Kaali Ghata Barse, Hum Yaar Bheeg Jaaye, Is Chaahat Ki Baarish Mein’.

Saurabh Agarwal (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha) – Rim Jhim Rim Jhim (1942 A Love Story; 1994) is the perfect romantic and lovable rain song. I also like Aaj Rapat Jaye Toh (Namak Halaal; 1982) and that is because of its rawness and masti.

Vaidika Senjaliya (Tujhse Hai Raabta) – I would go for Tip Tip Barsa Paani (Mohra; 1994). It is one of the legendary romantic rain songs for me. I was very young at that time of the release of this song. As a child, this is the song that inspired to become a heroine.

Speaking more about what she enjoyed the most while shooting outdoors, the actor adds, “I enjoyed how the physical setting changed and it was sort of a process to fit into a different locality. My family doesn’t stay in Mumbai so the only thing I missed was the comfort of my home and the auto rides in the city.”

She reveals, “It all began with the film Tamasha by Imtiaz Ali. I was completing my engineering when the team had come to our college to conduct auditions. The shoot was happening in Shimla only. So I auditioned for it and was offered a small role, which I happily took up. I shot for a week with the team and I was awestruck by what was happening around me. That is when I felt acting is what I want to do.”

After completing her engineering, she took up a job, but the thought of becoming an actress was there somewhere at the back of her mind. And as luck would have it, she got a call for an audition for Kumkum Bhagya. That’s when she decided to shift to Mumbai. She played a few small parts in TV shows and eventually bagged her first lead role in Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha. Richa says, “The audition clip which was recorded in my college was sent to different production houses by the coordinator and that is how I got a call for Kumkum Bhagya. Then I travelled to Mumbai from Chandigarh as I was working there.”

She further adds, “It’s been three years now in the industry and I feel the time is just passing by. I have been continuously shooting and I am happy about that. Now in the pandemic, things have become more challenging,”

Coming from a place like Shimla and establishing herself here was tough, she says, “I have lived in metro cities but in Mumbai life is totally different. It wasn’t easy but I managed and now I have got used to the pace. When I was in Shimla during the lockdown, I actually felt what a slow life people live in places like these.”

But staying away from her family is tough, she says. “I have to do all my work by myself here. Even if I have health issues, I have to do things on my own. After packup, people are happy to go back to their families, but I have to go back to an empty house,” she says.

She further adds, “It is fantastic to work with Full house Media. Sonali and Amir Jaffar are good producers”.

It is urgent that we realize the impact of our consumption patterns on the environment. Making efforts in this direction is the only way to secure a healthy environment for all. I have started opting for environment friendly products and avoiding the use of plastic. I have been planning to start home composting of kitchen waste. I am trying to educate myself more about fast fashion and make conscious choices related to clothing and fashion. Also, in the lockdown, I made a table out of old scrap wood, then a planter from scrap tiles and some potlis from scrap cloth. So recycling is also one way by which we can create a difference.

Milloni Kapadia (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha): Consistent small changes make a big difference. I believe a clean environment keeps our mind healthy and wise. Our environment affects our lives a lot in ways that people usually don’t think of and that is why they tend to litter and pollute it, and I hate that. I always use the bin when around or if not I keep my waste to myself and request others to do the same. In fact, I sometimes take their waste and keep it too. Plastics are long gone. Also, I love greens. We have a lot of plants at our place and it’s a beautiful feeling to water them and see them grow and bloom. I feel our environment is our home. I really wish every human would feel the same, and not pollute it. Let’s keep our environment clean and fresh for us to live a happy and healthy life.

Vaidika Senjaliya (Tujhse Hai Raabta): A healthy environment means a lot to me since childhood. My grandfather is still doing farming in our village, we have a lot of mango trees over there, so from childhood itself, I know how important it is to have a healthy environment. Greenery gives us positivity and refreshment, especially during these COVID times. In my house too, I have kept plants in all corners because you feel so good, and peaceful looking at those. And whenever we go to our village I feel so happy there because there is much of greenery and less pollution. In metro cities like Mumbai, it’s not possible to maintain the environment, we can’t grow more trees because we don’t have enough space, but yes we can make sure that the trees which already exist are maintained. The eco-system restoration which is done by the government should be promoted.

Saurabh Agarwal (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha): I always lead life naturally, and when I say naturally I mean with nature. We are a part of nature, born out of it, and if we destroy what takes care of us then it’s our foolishness. We can’t afford to cut and kill trees. We have to avoid carbon emission as much as possible. With carbon emission I mean minimal use of social media platforms and mobile, which also includes no use of one-time plastic. We have to take care of our environment which takes of ourselves and not otherwise. So I personally take note of all these things and apply to my lifestyle. It’s our planet and not any human beings ego trip.

Bharat Pahuja (Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha): I truly believe small changes lead to a better lifestyle not just for me or my family but for the world around me. At my home we follow the practice of segregating dry and wet garbage. In my opinion this really is important for everyone to do, in fact this small practice can help in waste management on a larger scale and help in reduction of pollution of land, water and air. Small changes always help in establishing lasting changes and I urge everyone to help the planet be cleaner. I love plants and I really think having them around is the best practice. I keep planting new ones every now and then. In fact, once I grew a tree in my balcony. You know these things help you not only with personal growth but also help the environment.
