‘Yeh Desh’ conceptualised by Bickram Ghosh, features many established musicians!

#BikramGhosh teams up with maestros for a special #IndependenceDaySong ‘#YehDesh’. Ahead of Independence Day tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh has composed a special song titled ‘Yeh Desh!’ in collaboration with many musicians, including #Hariharan, #Shaan, #KavitaSeth, and #RichaSharma,

The video features prominent instrumentalists from across the country. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt graces the mohan veena, Ronu Majumdar enchants with the flute, Purbayan Chatterjee mesmerizes with the sitar, and Tajhesh Vaidya enthralls with the veena while Ghosh takes charge of the table and percussion instruments, uniting the ensemble in harmonious synergy.

Bickram Ghosh, who was recently honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (Akademi Puraskar) in the contemporary category, says, “Ye Desh is about the spirit of our country. I thought it would be wonderful to create an anthem to celebrate 75 years of our independence by collaborating with both established musicians and newcomers. When we were young, there were so many other patriotic songs that used to be played on TV. I thought that we need to have a song that matched the energy of the current generation. So when I was composing it, I kept the song purposely high energy.”

The song, conceptualised by Bickram Ghosh, features many established musicians as well as newcomers: Shaan, Richa Sharma, Hariharan, Mahalakshmi lyer, Kavita Seth, Rishi Singh, Deboshmita Roy, Chirag Kotwal, Mohammed Faiz, Bidipta Chakraborty, Senjuti Das, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ronu Majumdar, Purbayan Chatterjee, and Rajesh Vaidhya.

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Richa Sharma’s film ‘Panaah’ aims to bring a change in society

Lal Bhatia of David & Goliath Films recently released a short film ‘Panaah’ as a response to the alarming statistics and surge in cases of domestic violence in India. The production house has also produced music videos and short films on social issues. The film Panaah has received huge appreciation and an overwhelming response among masses in the country. The production house aims to bring a change in society with this short film.

The film revolves around Bumba Da played by Bengali film industry superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee and actress Richa Sharma. Richa Sharma is a successful corporate professional, who cannot take a step to dissolve her marriage due to societal taboo around divorce. Joydeep Sen, director of the film, said, “The entire objective of the film was to make it look real and a slice of life from daily situations. The film is a spontaneous response to the irony of a woman who stays home is safe at home. It reminds a woman to speak up and let herself be heard when she is suffering from domestic abuse.”

The film has already crossed one million views within five days of its release. Joydeep added, “The support of the National Human Rights Commission gave an added meaning to our vision. It helped us move in the right direction, and we have received huge support from people to fight against such evil issues.” The moment Prosenjit Chaterjee heard the script, Prosenjit got super excited and emotional about it. He said he just had to do this for the greater good.

Richa Sharma- Mrs India International 2011 and Brand Ambassador of David & Goliath, Richa Sharma, came on board immediately, as soon as she heard the concept of the film. It was too strong a subject for her to turndown and one which is very close to her heart. Panaah encourages women to report domestic violence and through Sameer’s character tells women to not stay quiet but act on this social evil in society.

Contestant of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012, and Dedh Ishqiya playback singer Jazim Sharma who is popularly known for his songs Choch Ladiyaan and Grey Waala Shade from the film Manmarziyaan has recently released his new track Tasavvur. The track has created all the buzz not just among the listeners but in the Bollywood music industry as well. Recently Singer Shaan, Salim Merchant, Richa Sharma, Jasbir Jassi among others showers so much love on twitter for appreciating Jazim Sharma’s new Ghazal “Tasavvur”.

Tasavvur is a romantic ghazal which is a perfect amalgamation of our traditional music with a fusion touch. The shooting of this song has been done in London just to bring the western touch in the Indian Music.
