Celebrities Galore at the NexGen Leadership Awards!

It was an evening filled with warmth, applause and genuine celebration as #NagmaMirajkar, #IrshadKamil, #PushkarJog, #RupaliSuri and #VarinderChawla came together for Indian businessman, philanthropist and now filmmaker Sunil Kothari’s NexGen Leadership Awards. The event brought together artists, creators and technicians from across the industry, recognising not just success, but the journeys and hard work behind it.

Adding to the highlights of the evening, producer Sunil Kothari also unveiled the poster of his upcoming film Avyaan during the ceremony, giving attendees an exciting first glimpse into his next cinematic venture.

The night honoured a diverse mix of talent. Sunil Kothari was presented with the Legacy Excellence Award, while Pushkar Jog was recognised for his Outstanding Performance in Human Cocaine. Lyricist Irshad Kamil received the Best Lyrics honour for Saiyaara, and Nagma Mirajkar was named Trendsetter of the Year. Eshika Dey won Breakthrough Performer of the Year (OTT & Films), while Vinod Sam Peter was awarded Visionary Director for Puglya.

Among others, Anusmriti Sarkar was honoured as The Most Promising Actress, Nibedita Basu received The Content Disruptor Award, Krishna Gautam won Best Performance in a Music Video, and Nabil Parkar was named Fresh Face of the Year. Varinder Chawla was celebrated as Bollywood’s Lens Legend, Nilesh Choudhari received Outstanding Art Director for Dhurandhar, and Rupali Suri was awarded Dynamic Talent of the Year (Films & OTT). Rajesh Kumar, a digital marketer and photographer, was also in attendance at the event.

Speaking at the event, Sunil Kothari shared, “This platform is very close to my heart. It’s not just about awards, it’s about recognising people who quietly build this industry every day. Whether they are in front of the camera or behind it, their passion deserves to be celebrated.”

With heartfelt moments, candid conversations and well-earned recognition, the NexGen Leadership Awards stood as a reminder that the industry thrives on both legacy and fresh energy.

‘Kuch Seekhe’ from veteran actor and filmmaker Vikram Gokhale!

In #Bollywood, it is said that if the beginning is good, then the journey becomes easy, and if the journey is interesting, then the path often lead to the top. Actor #RupaliSuri is one of those who worked in an international feature film ‘#DadHoldMyHand’ with actress #RatnaPathakShah in the beginning of her career and was very much appreciated globally. Now, under the direction of veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, Rupali will be seen in the short film ‘Kuch Seekhe’.

Vikram Gokhale himself has written, edited, composed and directed this short film on the relationship between husband and wife in lockdown. When the world was imprisoned in the homes due to lockdown, in some places the relations were getting stronger, and took turn from better to worse and vice versa. The bitter-sweet relationship between husband and wife is very beautifully portrayed by the actors in this film.

Says Vikram Gokhale, “in this story, the wife takes care of the kitchen and the house, and the man does the outside work. During lock down, he contributes to cleaning, swabbing and cooking among other things and what begins as a timepass to beat boredom turns into a realisation exercise. He realises the hard work that his wife died on a daily basis so that his home is sailing smooth. ‘Kuch Sikhe’, a sweet gesture of husband and wife, and drives home a social message that men should understand and respect the dedication and sacrifice of women.”

Rupali Suri is also very excited to work with Vikram Gokhale. This is her second with the veteran actor after Organic Dosti that celebrates the friendship between a young woman and a senior man.

“Vikram sir is an institution. You learn so much. I am lucky that my break has been with veteran actors who share their learning without holding back. This forms the base of growth of us actors who grow their wings.”

Adds Vikram Gokhale, “Rupali is a good actress, good student who asks, listens, understands and follows when you guide. She will do wonders in the future and is surely an actress to watch out for”.

A beautiful story about two women who form a unique bond while dealing with the same circumstance in life, this film sees Rupali essay a character who endures everything with a smile.

“It is a very beautiful story,” says an emotional Rupali, adding, “I loved the character. As actors, we have to keep a smiling face even if we are going through pain in our lives. I sort of relate to the character in every sense. Working with a veteran actor like Ratna Pathak Shah was such an enriching experience. You learn so much in a matter of a month when you shoot with her. I feel blessed.”

The film is entirely shot in London and features a young NRI who seeks his alienated father and in the process, deserts the woman he loves (Rupali Suri) — just like his father abandoned his mother (Ratna Pathak Shah).

Rupali Suri has been shooting in Paris, France, for her next project and the shooting has been brought to a halt temporarily. She was stuck in the interior of the villages in Paris as one of the crew members caught covid. The cases are secure there. Rupali is stuck with her crew that is her stylist, make up artists etc. There was a covid case on set and for precautions the shooting had to be discontinued. It might start soon if reports are to be beleived. They shot for a week and than the disease stuck to one of the crew members and as protocols would have it, the shoot has been stopped.

We spoke to Rupali on how she is spending her time and here is what she has to say, “It’s been a difficult time throughout the world. We shot for a week and we had to stop the production due to one of the crew members contracting the disease. So I am currently here just moving around and seeing around a bit. Paris is a beautiful place. Always wanted to have a house here someday. Maybe someday I would. Who knows? On the work front it’s been good. The last year was hit badly due to the pandemic and things are just starting to get normal.”

It was a challenging time but everything is great now. I took to yoga in a huge manner to take up this challenge. It’s been paying dividends. It has had a huge impact on the way the body feels and looks. Yoga is just the best thing the body can get. A strict diet helped and things look great now. A couple of projects are in the pipeline. I hope to come out with details soon. The audience deserves to know everything. Hope everything is gearing up for their best year ever.”
