Goongoonalo is a digital platform created by artists for artists. It is dedicated not only to music but also to poetry, storytelling, and other creative expressions. The app features original content, unreleased classics, mentorship sessions, masterclasses, jam sessions, open mics, and direct fan interactions.

Founding members include Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, #ShreyaGhoshal, #ArijitSingh, #PrasoonJoshi, #SameerAnjaan, #VishalDadlani, #AmitTrivedi, and others. The app was developed by technology expert #SridharRanganathan, with #SherleySingh serving as CEO.

Artists’ Perspectives on Goongoonalo….
Javed Akhtar: “May 5, 2025, is a historic day. Goongoonalo gives artists the freedom to create without the constraints of producers or music companies. According to renowned singer Javed Ali, “recording the song was an extremely fulfilling journey.” Arvind Pandey’s lyrics are beautiful and flawlessly written. When I found out that he is also directing ‘Ishq Pashmina,’ I knew the song’s video would be mind-blowingly amazing. This was not like the songs I usually sing; it was more lively, upbeat, and full of all the good things. “I’m hoping the audience enjoys it.”

The song features the lead actors – Bhavin and Malti at the heights of Himachal surrounded by the snow where they are dancing and expressing their love for each other. The costumes are coordinated with the same colours making them very cohesive. Malti is looking beautiful in the sarees emanating elegance and Bhavin is looking as dapper as ever in his fashionably layered outfits.

“Singing by Javed Ali has brought out the emotion.” The film is very special to each of us who are associated with it. And we worked very hard to make it a memorable love story. The music is the film’s selling point, and the songs are so beautiful that it’s difficult to pick a favourite. Suraj Surya Mishra says, “We just hope and look forward to the audience enjoying it and pouring love.”

Debutant Director Arvind Pandey shares, “I have also written book called Ishq Pashmina. And being the one who directed the film helped me further in writing the lyrics specially tailored for the movie. And the best part is that it was our producer Suraj ji’s idea to make this song look and sound like a 90s song with all the simple steps of dancing and grooving to the music, because its very rare that we come across such songs lately. I am grateful for this whole opportunity and the trust that our producer Suraj Surya Mishra have bestowed upon me.”

The song is filled with love as they declare their heart, love, and dedication to each other. The song perfectly captures the essence of the two’s deep love and their soulful expressions..

Arvind Pandey directed the song’s video along with the young and talented Shashwat Prakhar Bhardwaj, who has a fresh approach to the song’s music composition and visual treatment..

Apart from actors Bhavin and Malti, the film includes a starry cast such as the veteran actress Zarina Wahab, Brijendra Kala, Kainat Arora, Gaurika Mishra, and many more. The film ‘Ishq Pashmina’ is produced by Suraj Surya Mishra and Shalu Mishra under the banner of Krishna Shanti Production.Music is provided by Composers Sham-Balkar and Shashwat Prakhar Bhardwaj. Editing is done by Rajesh Pandey and cinematography by Navin V Mishra and casting by Mitul Patel.

The film is all set to release in the theatres on September 23, 2022.

“I come from a traditional business family with no background in Bollywood at all. So the initial years was all about finding work and trying to understand how things work in the industry,” says Irfan, who started his career with the song Aashayein from Iqbal and then went on to pen songs for films such as Fashion, Teen Patti, Chance Pe Dance, Kurbaan, Heroine, among others.

Siddiqui shares that his debut project was with a friend. “I had teamed up with my childhood buddy Rajeev Goswami (director and choreographer) for his debut album titled (Mujhe Mere Yaar Se Matlab). The music of this album was done by Salim-Sulaiman. While working on this project they offered me Iqbal and Aashayein too worked out… I did not face a lot of struggle but yes it took time to understand how things took shape. I feel lucky that Salim-Sulaiman gave me my first break.”

Talking about his latest collaboration with Salim-Sulaiman, Jazaak Allah, he adds, “Muslims say Jazakallah instead of thanks. It means ‘may God reward you with goodness’. Jazaak Allah is an ode to all the Covid warriors who are working relentlessly and selflessly for humanity. “It is a very special thing for me as it highlights the feelings of gratitude and kindness. I wanted to keep a little touch of Urdu in the lyrics and wanted people to connect with the essence of the song. I hope I’ve achieved it.”

Jazaak Allah is sung by Javed Ali and Salim Merchant. “I’m honoured that Salim has sung four songs of mine Aashiyana from Fashion, Ali Maula from Kurbaan, Oh Jaaniya from Wedding Pullav and the Teen Patti title track. Apart from this, Jazaak Allah is our third joint offering on Eid. We’ve previously done Allahu Akbar and Astagfirullah… This is the first time I have worked with the much talented Javed Ali and must say I am thrilled. He is extremely talented and cooperative,” he says.

Heaping praises on Salim-Sulaiman (SS), Siddiqui shares that they are one of the best in the industry and yet they are so humble and caring. “It has always been a real pleasure working with them. They are more friends and family than business associates to me. Their humbleness and warmth always ensures my capability getting it’s due. I have learnt a lot from them. SS and me go a long way. We did Iqbal, Fashion, Teen Patti, Kurbaan, Heroine, Chain Kuli Ki Main Khuli and many other projects together. Apart from this SS, Rajeev and I are partners at Gravity Zero Entertainment LLP. We’ve produced three Musicals namely Beyond Bollywood, Umrao Jaan Ada and Disco Dancer. I just hope our collaboration and bonding continues like this,” he ends.
