With an alarming surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, film producers and production houses have become extra cautious to ensure safety of the entire cast and crew of their respective projects. Producer #VipulAmrutlalShah, who is looking forward to start shooting the last schedule of his highly-anticipated film ‘#Sanak’ in Goa this month, has ensured extra measures on the movie set. Starring #VidyutJammwal and debutant actress Rukmini Maitra, the movie also features Neha Dhupia in a special performance along with Chandan Roy Sanyal in a pivotal role. The poster of ‘Sanak’ launched at the beginning of this year, created a lot of buzz and garnered immense anticipation.

Talking about the precautionary measures being taken for the last schedule of ‘Sanak’, director Kanishk Verma informs, “We only have the Goa schedule left. There is a sudden surge in the (covid-19) cases and the whole country is going through this. To be very honest, we have been very strict from the beginning as far as santisation and covid precautions on the set are concerned. We never took it lightly, even when we started the principal photography of the movie in January. I think we have been lucky enough to not have a single case for three months and back-to-back shooting because we were quite strict with safety measures and responsible. We made sure that everybody on set maintained the social distancing protocol. Only the people absolutely needed for the shot were there on the set. At any given point, we didn’t have more than 10-15 people on the shooting floor. Everyone was sent to the different rooms and corners and were called in when needed. Though this affected the shoot time but everybody was very responsible and played their part well. Hence, we managed to finish the shoot in three months without any injury or covid cases. In fact, all equipment on set, cars and bikes of artists and crew members were also sanitised as soon as they arrived on set.”

Producer Vipul Shah adds, “We had a specialised sanitization team working on the set. There was a team of 8 people whose primary job was to ensure that the entire shooting location and set up was properly sanitized, everybody goes through the sanitization tunnel every 15-20 minutes, everybody was given sanitizer to clean their hands, temperatures were checked regularly, surprise checks were also done. We had also created different colour bands, like green bands were given to the ones who can access the shooting area and red bands for those who cannot. Some extra unit bases were also created and sanitised, so the people can split in small units and that’s how we functioned.”

Vipul has brought successful movies like the ‘Commando’ franchise, ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’, ‘Singh is Kinng’, ‘Force’ and many more. These films are still fresh in the minds of the audience even today where he has always produced content that ages well. With ‘Sanak’, we can expect another great story in the making. It needs to be seen what action-packed ace card is up Vipul’s sleeves this time around.

Presented by Zee Studios in association with Sunshine Pictures, ‘Sanak’ is a Vipul Amrutlal Shah production, being directed by Kanishk Verma.

It’s every filmmaker’s dream to have creative liberty while narrating his or story on the big screen or any visual entertainment platform. But very rarely do we see the storytellers having the opportunity or talent to explore almost every visual entertainment medium possible in their cinematic journey. Director-producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is one such remarkably talented exception of the Indian entertainment industry!

Interestingly, Vipul Shah is one of the few Indian directors who have tried his hand at theatre, regional television, mainstream television, regional films, Hindi films, ad films and now venturing into OTT. In theatre also, he has successfully carved a niche for himself attempting inter-college, experimental theatre and commercial theatre, street plays to everything.

Vipul recalls as he goes back the memory lane, “I didn’t have plan for my future when I started doing theatre. I live in the moment and creatively what excites me at that point of time, I go ahead and make it. When I was doing theatre, I had no idea that one day I will enter into TV space or films. But then TV came and I accepted it as a new format and we started regional television for Ahmedabad Doordarshan. From there, I progressed to making the first daily soap of India, so to say, called ‘Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka’ which went on to do 1000 episodes. While I was doing that, I was offered my first Gujarat film, which was quite challenging as it was shot in 35 mm cinemascope format and Dolby sound.”

“Post that, I got my first Hindi film ‘Aankhen’ and the Hindi film journey started. While I was doing films, I also did a couple of ad films and that experience was also unique because in ad films, filmmakers don’t have much of a role because the brand works with the marketing agency and creative team on exactly what they want and how they want. As filmmakers, we just have to go and execute it in a way. After working on a few ads, I decided to take a break. And now I am doing OTT, which feels like a complete journey. Except documentaries, I have practically worked on all possible formats that exists in entertainment field. In theatre also, I did street theatre, experimental theatre, competitive theatre, virtual, musicals, non-musical, etc. Maybe one day, I would also want to make a documentary,” Vipul concludes.

After announcing two ambitious and interesting projects recently – a medical thriller titled ‘Human’ (web show) and ‘Sanak’ (movie), Vipul Shah has already started working on the same, simultaneously. While ‘Human’ is an emotional drama about the underbelly of the human drug testing and the world of medical scam, ‘Sanak’ is an intense, emotional, action film.

‘Human’ features the versatile actress Shefali Shah, Ram Kapoor, Kirti Kulhari as lead characters and it went on floors in January this year. The web series will be co-directed by Vipul Shah and Mozez Singh. ‘Sanak’ stars Vidyut along with Chandan Roy Sanyal, Neha Dhupia and Rukmini Maitra (who is making her Bollywood debut). Presented by Zee Studios in association with Sunshine Pictures, ‘Sanak’ is a Vipul Amrutlal Shah production, directed by Kanishk Verma.

For all Vidyut Jammwal’s fans and fitness freaks, it’s going to be a rare sight to see their favourite actor relishing some pancakes with his younger co-star on the sets of Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s highly-anticipated movie, ‘Sanak’, directed by Kanishk Verma.

Director-producer Vipul Shah certainly knows how to keep the cast and crew of his movies happy. The latest on-location video shared by Vidyut on his social media is a testament of the same. Known for his fitness and flexibility, Vidyut can be seen feasting on pancakes with his child co-star, Harshdeep Alag.

A source from the sets of Sanak informs, “The cast and crew are certainly spoilt for choice, in terms of food on the sets of Vipul sir’s projects, as they offer a wide variety of delicious food throughout the shoot schedule.”

In his Instagram post, Vidyut has mentioned, “Training him to never CHEAT.. I don’t believe in Cheat meals.. I eat what I crave for.. MENTAL happiness BHI KOI CHEEZ HOTI HAI.. #SANAK #sunshinepictures #yummySHOOTINGsnack #HarshdeepAlag

The filmmaker is literally working round-the-clock to ensure both the projects are shot and completed on time. “It’s quite a challenging task to handle these two completely contrasting projects. Both the projects I am producing and ‘Human’ I am directing with Mozez Singh,” admits Vipul Shah.

Talking about the shoot schedule, Vipul informs, “During day time, we are shooting Human and, in the night, we are shooting Sanak. My day starts approximately at 5 am and it ends at 1 or 2 am. After directing Human from early morning to evening, I report to the sets of Sanak which starts from evening to next morning. Though it’s challenging, it’s quite interesting and fun.”

After sitting at home for nine months because of Covid, the filmmaker is enjoying the high-energy period working on these two projects at the same time. “The two projects were not supposed to be shot together but this is something beyond my control, the timelines dictated it but I am now enjoying the process. As a creative individual, I have a habit of taking up the challenge as fun. That’s the challenge we all have accepted and we are going ahead with it,” Vipul concludes.

Modern day actors are required to lose or gain weight as per the requirements of the roles in films. Take for instance the case of actor Vikas Verma who was an antagonist in Coolie No.1. The actor put on 20kgs for Coolie No.1 in barely few months “It was David Dhawan Ji’s brief to me that his villain has to look bulky and slightly huge to justify the character. I barely had a month to work my body, had to gain weight to look the part.”

Actor Vikas Verma’s latest Bollywood film Coolie No.1 along side Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan won many accolades in India and worldwide. Perhaps, if you have watched the movie, you must have noticed how he risked his health to get the look right for his film where he played the big bad boy.

However now the actor has to drop all those extra kilos (20 to be precise) for his next film with Vidyut Jammwal titled “Sanak“. From his Instagram stories it seems like that actor has been hitting the gym to get in shape “My next is a full on action film and for that I have to look and feel fit to do all the action sequences. I have been regularly going to the gym, my trainer and my nutritionist have put me on a strict diet. Guess It will be healthy New Years for me.”
