“After Albelaa, I have gone on several trips with my family and friends and I have been going through scripts. An actor’s job is to always find something that they are comfortable doing. I have been waiting for the right kind of roles. After every project that’s the hustle that an actor has to do. Now I have gotten a show called Drishti for Atrangii TV and I am playing the titular role of Drishti in it,” she says.

Drishti is a very interesting thriller and I am really looking forward to it because I always wanted to explore the genre on TV. The story is very different from regular shows, she reveals.

“Nivedita Basu ( VP Content and Business Alliance, Atrangii TV and OTT ) is also a part of the channel and I am really looking forward to starting shooting,” she sounds excited.

Reacting to saying no to intimate scenes on screen, she adds, “It’s true that I have said no to a lot of work that included kissing scenes as well as bold scenes. That’s a decision I consciously take because that’s something I don’t want to do and I do not regret letting those projects go. In fact there have been meetings where directors and producers have told me that this is such a good project who are you saving yourself for. Who says no for a kissing scene and stuff like that? I don’t think I need convincing from anybody because it’s my decision and it’s something my heart doesn’t allow it now. I am okay with letting go of the projects.”

Aparna says that one needs to be patient and have faith. “There is some faith inside me where I know that the kind of work I am looking for will definitely fall into my lap. It’s been almost a decade in the industry and I have constantly been working. God has been kind that way. I just need to look for work that I want to do. As an audience, I am not judgmental. A lot of my friends and co-actors are doing intimate scenes and it takes a lot of courage to do it. Acting is my profession and my personality is different. My personality doesn’t allow me to do all these scenes even in the name of my profession. Your profession shouldn’t manipulate the person that you are. I have seen other people doing the same show and I don’t regret saying no to it. When people say things right to your face, like the directors and producers, it gets difficult at that moment, but then it’s my journey and I know how to let go. Your decision shouldn’t be influenced by anyone,” she ends.

Actor #HitanshuJinsi, who has been part of shows like “#Shakti:AstitvaKeEhsaasKi”, “#VighnahartaGanesha” and “#SacredGames” (Part 1), has a very positive outlook towards life. Though he has seen his share of a great deal of hardship, he calls it a learning experience.

“Struggles make you stronger. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. The struggle is an ongoing thing. When I came to Mumbai my friend had promised to provide me with a place for a few days but he gave me the wrong address and switched off his phone. He is still one of my good friends because he had his reasons but I was stranded that day. I then went to Juhu beach and sat on my luggage,” he said.

“A lot more has happened which is a part of my life. People call it struggle but I call it experience,” he added.

Hailing from Jammu, the young actor is a Kashmiri pandit. Unfortunately, his father passed away when he was just 13, and he has been working ever since. Though he had little to no support from his family, he knew his calling and followed it.

He said, “I started doing a part-time job as a computer typist along with that I took admission in Jammu University through distance education so that I can manage my theater along with my studies and job.”

“Initially, no one was in favor of me because I was supposed to do a normal job instead of a part-time job and theater was something no one was aware of. I did Nukkad Nataks all over the country then started doing theater. Then after saving some money I came to Mumbai. I tasted success when I started understanding my craft. Success for me is happiness and following my passion. All other things fall into place automatically. I believe in becoming kaabil,” he added.

However, he confessed that if not an actor, he would have studied cinematography. “When I was doing a part-time job in Jammu I used to feel suffocated like a tiger who walks inside a prison thinking there is more in life than this. So if not an actor then I would have started learning cinematography,” he said.

Sharing his bit on the competition in the industry, he said that he is his biggest competition and he ensures that he gives his best in every frame.

“I just compete with myself and try to be a better version of myself. I don’t really focus on competition. I don’t pick work. Work picks me. I just make sure that whatever I do, I do it with honesty, and I am very grateful to the almighty for everything,” he said.

The actor has worked on both OTT and TV, and feels that both have their separate audience. He said, “OTT and television cannot be compared. Television is still very popular in villages and small towns. OTT, on the other hand, is more popular among youth and working-class people who don’t have time to watch TV. I myself don’t get time to watch TV.”

Lastly, tell us what’s your focus as an actor in the New Year? “I will focus on learning my craft more and will find out my weaknesses and work on them. I will try to explore and dig more into myself to be a better performer than I am now,” Hitanshu concluded.

Social media has also become a game of amassing a huge number of followers, however, Avinash says that he has never got bogged down with this. “The number of followers have become like a benchmark in the industry, that’s a given. I do accept that this a benchmark number but it is like a race without a finish line. There is no point in running it. You are not going to win. You may think that you are losing and it causes a lot of psychological tension. You keep thinking about why the numbers are not increasing. Instead, you should be focussing on the memories and the experience, not the numbers. The numbers will be there if you do good work and work which people have not seen,” he says, adding, “Social media is two-way communication, it has taken out the fake aspect. It has made communication more transparent.”

Ask him what he loves about the medium, and he says, “The positive side of social media is instead of people calling me by my character names, they are calling me from by my real name. That is due to social media.”

He said, “In the beginning of my career, Ram Kapoor was mentoring me and teaching me how to act. He has been the biggest help when I started my career with ‘Kasamh Se’. He told me that I can guarantee you that you will become a star one day, but just remember that there will be a lot of attention, there will be a lot of money, there will be everything that you ever imagined in your life. But at no point in your life, let all that alter your head, and if it ever did then just remember that will be the day when you will start coming down the same ladder with which you went up.”

However, he does not have many friends in the industry, and asked if this might work as a disadvantage for him, he said, “I am the only child, so I am accustomed since childhood to enjoy my own company. The young actor also shared that he is overwhelmed that he got a chance to portray an interesting character like Soham on-screen and added, “The experience of working in ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for more because of the love that my character Soham got. I am grateful to the production house for their immense trust in me as my Soham.”

Q) From ‘Balika Vadhu’ to ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ you have grown up in the industry. How do you feel when you look back?
A) From ‘Balika Vadhu’ to ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ I have grown up in the industry and I feel really good. It’s been a magical experience. As I always say what you cannot express, you call it magic, so it’s been like that for me and I keep learning every day, and the more I learn each day, the more I fall in love with the art of filmmaking.

Q) How demanding is your role in ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’?
A) My role in ‘Shakti…’ is not demanding, but it’s definitely very challenging because it has many layers, and I enjoy doing such complex roles wherein you get to perform as an actor and you get more chances of drawing out from your personal experiences and portraying that on-screen. There is no better exercise in acting than doing that.

Q) From where do you get the inspiration for your character?
A) I think you can take inspiration from your real life, from the briefs, the scripts, and the creatives. When you do a serial you get to know your character in and out, because you have been playing that character for a long time and you know what happens when the character gets angry, how he talks, how he walks, you know all of his emotions. You are giving life to your character just the way you are living yours.

Q) You have been brought up in Mumbai does that give you a feeling of security?
A) Mumbai is the land of dreams and even if given a chance, there is no better place for me to live other than Mumbai. I love Mumbai to the core and I call Mumbai my ‘mehbooba’.

Q) You are a family-oriented boy and we haven’t heard of you partying? Is it a conscious decision?
A) I am a family-oriented guy, and I don’t party much because whenever I get a chance I want to spend more time with my family and enjoy myself with them rather than going out with friends and partying with them for no apparent reason. I like to party only when there is something to celebrate.

Q) Did you miss what youngsters do while growing up because you are an actor?
A) No, I didn’t. I want to continue living my life like this. After 35 I might start partying and going out.

Q) What are your career goals now?
A) I don’t talk about my career goals, I just want people to read about them.

Q) What are your views on love and romance?
A) Love and romance are forgotten and they don’t exist in today’s time. I am an old-school lover and that’s why I am still single. I have not found a girl who matches my thinking or my ideology of love and romance. I am like a Shah Rukh Khan lover.

Q) Share two hobbies that you indulge in.
A) Writing and driving.

Q) What you have learned about the new normal?
A) That I need to work harder because something like this can happen anytime, and this is a message for everyone that be prepared for days or months like this so that you can help anyone during such times.

Q) Who is your idol and why?
A) My idol is my dad. And I have so many reasons that I can go on and on about it, I can write so many books.
