Full Plate recently had its world premiere slated for the Busan International Film Festival 2025. The film is about a Muslim homemaker in Mumbai whose husband’s accident forces her to earn a living, leading to her husband’s insecurity and her personal transformation.

Reflecting on opening the festival with Full Plate, Tannishtha Chatterjee says: “In the middle of one of the hardest chapters of my life, it meant everything to know that stories still matter. When Mitu asked me to open the Indian Film Festival of Sydney with Full Plate, I felt both humbled and profoundly grateful. The poster of producer Praful Pasad’s film Malhar was launched at Red Bulb Studio in Mumbai where the entire team associated with the film along with the producer, director and all the actors were present. Anjali Patil’s look is completely different in the poster, which is giving a glimpse of her unique character, while Sharib Hashmi is also impressing with his thick moustache.

Producer Praful Pasad said, “Malhar is a wonderful confluence of three stories taking place in Kutch. We have woven the film in an interesting manner so that the audience gets complete entertainment. This film tells the story of two best friends. The story revolves around his struggle to get his hearing aid repaired.”

Actress Anjali Patil, who has shown her acting prowess in many Hindi, Marathi and South films including Chakravyuh and Newton, is also very excited about Malhar’s engagement story. She says, “One of the three stories in the film is of Kesar who has recently got married to Laxman, who is the son of the sarpanch of that village. Even after passage of months of marriage she is not getting pregnant so her in-laws are continuously cursing her and how does she get out of it.”

Actor Sharib Hashmi is happy to be a part of Malhar. He says, “Out of the three stories of the film, one story is of Javed and his elder sister Jasmine. Jasmine falls in love with a Hindu boy, Jatin. The story shows their struggle to meet and live together, how they face this love and its consequences, this is what the story is about.”

The film stars Srinivas Pokle, Sharib Hashmi, Anjali Patil, Rishi Saxena, Mohammed Samad and Akshata Acharya. The film is produced by Praful Pasad and directed by director Vishal Kumbhar. The film’s dialogues have been written by Siddharth Salvi, Swapnil Sitaram and screenplay by Vishal Kumbhar, Apoorva Patil. The song takes the essence from the trailer and carries the narrative of the film forward. It talks about an after effect of one ‘Afwaah’ that makes the entire town chase Bhumi Pednekar and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It’s a tough fight for their lives amidst all the chaos.

The film revolves around how rumours can land people in life threatening situations, cause havoc and shows how rumours start spreading like wild fire and are a monster that won’t stop chasing you.

Recently, US based entertainment production house Lonestar films announced its first Hindi feature film titled ‘Cancer’. The film starring #SharibHashmi and Aahana Kumra will be directed by Faisal Hashmi who is known for Gujarati language films like Vitamin She and the award winning Short Circuit. Talking about bagging this project, Actress Aahana Kumra shared, “Once in a while a script challenges you and makes you want to jump up and shoot the film right away. That’s what I felt after reading the script of Cancer and I can’t wait to shoot it with my wonderful co actor Sharib Hashmi and our Director Faisal. I’m excited for this incredible collaboration with Lonestar films.”

Cancer, written by Faisal Hashmi and Gary Rowlands is touted as a mind bending thriller, and is in pre-production. The film will go on the floors early next year. The hunt for the third lead has begun and will be announced soon.
