Speaking about their bond, Shriyam shares, “From the very first day in Mumbai, Ayesha ma’am and I just connected. She has this warmth and energy that instantly draws you in. Playing her daughter felt real, not just scripted. She’s a senior and someone I deeply respect, but she’s always treated me like an equal.. never once made me feel like a new actor who didn’t know enough. That kindness is rare, and I’ll always hold it close. We had a lot of fun on set.. she’s spontaneous, razor sharp, and incredibly generous. Every scene with her felt alive. Between shots, we’d talk about the world, share meals, even go out on off days to shop or get photos clicked. Off camera, we had our little group with Ritu Chaudhry Seth, Anubha Fatehpuria ma’am and the other actors. That group is full of laughter whenever we meet! That comfort and ease translated straight into our scenes, and I think audiences will feel it too.”

*Ayesha Raza shared*, “I met Shriyam directly on the sets of Aap Jaisa Koi, we hadn’t known each other before. It’s always lovely to work with younger actors; they bring this fresh energy to the set. Shriyam was clear, eager and very sincere about her performance. She knew her part, understood what she was doing, and had a strong approach to her character. After the shoot, we spent quite a bit of time together and built a real bond. Shriyam, who is also gearing up for her big-ticket biopic Sumo Didi, adds that working alongside a seasoned actor like Ayesha Raza was an experience she will always value deeply. For the physically demanding role, Shriyam underwent rigorous training for several months under the guidance of celebrity fitness coach Sahil Rasheed to transform her body and build the strength required to authentically portray a professional sumo wrestler.

#Actress #ShriyamBhagnani has been signed to play the role of India’s only #SumoWrestler #HetalDave in a biopic titled Sumo Didi. As per sources, the shooting of the series is almost completed with its last schedule being shot in Japan. Celebrity trainer #SahilRasheed had posted some BTS pictures from the shoot and training sessions with Shriyam. If pictures are to go by then the actor has put on a substantial amount of weight to look the part. In the past also, Bhagnani has had some tryst to weight gain and loss within a short period of time for her acting roles.

Shriyam who was previously seen in Nagesh Kukunoor’s City of Dreams and Baaghi 2 reportedly underwent intense physical training for the role. She had to go through months of athletic training to become more muscular with celebrity trainer Sahil Rasheed. Hetal Dave is India’s first and only professional female sumo wrestler. In 2008, this woman from Mumbai made it into the Limca Book of Records. Her first international championship was in Estonia. After Estonia, Dave has represented India in tournaments at Poland, Finland and Taiwan. At the 2009 World Games, she stood fifth in the women’s middleweight category.

The web series titled Sumo Didi is directed by debutant Director Jayant Rohatgi. The series will also star Actors Nitesh Pandey, Chaitanya Sharma and Raghav Dhir who have posted pictures from the sets.

Every actor wants a decent debut and wishes to be applauded for it. The fact that I received it, is honestly very astounding for me because I never actually believed it was a realistic possibility so early on in my career. I feel extremely blessed and grateful to have gotten recognition for quality work. And being nominated with so many other talented actors definitely makes me feel good.

Director or the Script- what do you look at first before signing on a project?

I feel every single person of the crew is important for a good output. Having said that, it’s not possible to know for sure how the script, director, producer, co-actor, set designer, etc is going to be taken by the viewers. The script is definitely the first information one looks at, but the passion and drive of the makers is what draws me most to finally signing a project.

What are you currently shooting for or working on?

Currently I’m reading scripts everyday and in talks for a couple of projects. I am also going through a body transformation to help create a new look for myself.

Are you in touch with your COD costars and Team?

Oh yes, all of us are pretty connected, thanks to social media. The sweetness of the success of the show has led us to be closer than before.

We’ve seen a few videos of you on Instagram singing. Do we see Shriyam doing playbacks in the near future?

Haha, you saw that! I love music and everything to do with music! It really comes to me from my father. My father and I recently started a music label called Black Key Tunes, where we’re focused on Haryanvi and Bhojpuri music for the time being. As for playbacks, I’m a genuine believer of never say never!

What effect did the lockdown have on you, professionally and emotionally?

Well, a lot of projects got shelved post lockdown because of its effect on us financially, as an industry. That definitely stirred a lot of emotions in me and other professionals around me. But we have been learning to adapt to different environments and the greatest examples are the new releases that were shot post lockdown with utmost precautions. Every cloud has a silver lining and for me, the audience accepting Tanya, so much that it lands me a nomination for Filmfare OTT, was that.

What’s your dream role and who’s your favourite director/actor with whom you want to work?

My dream role is something that I haven’t played before. But I would love to be a part of any fantasy world that Disney creates like Aladdin and Cruella amongst others.
