He emphasized that only someone with deep emotional connection to the state could make such a film, and praised Mahesh Manjrekar’s courage for addressing the issue in this manner. He noted that past works on Shivaji Maharaj focused on history, while this film blends history and the present to depict farmers’ suffering, expressing confidence that audiences will wholeheartedly embrace it.Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Manjrekar said that the issue of farmer suicides had disturbed him for many years. After extensive research, he felt compelled to present the problem to society. Initially considering a film with National Award-winning child actors Trisha Thosar and Bhargav Jagtap, he evolved the idea into this feature.

The film shows how enraged Shivaji Maharaj might be upon seeing the plight of today’s farmers, making it, in his words, “a film for every Marathi person.”Bhavesh Janvalekar, Business Head of Zee Studios Marathi, highlighted the strong collaboration between Manjrekar and Zee Studios, noting this marks their fifth film together. He stated that audiences will witness a modern-day version of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film, which tackles an important subject and could become a landmark in cinema. He expressed gratitude to Raj Thackeray for attending the event.

Actor #SiddharthBodke, who plays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, described the role as a great responsibility. He said audiences will see an intense and deeply agitated Maharaj in the film, a portrayal that demanded detailed study and preparation—with significant guidance from Manjrekar. He expressed confidence that viewers would appreciate his performance.The cast also includes Vikram Gaikwad, Shashank Shende, Mangesh Desai, Prithvik Pratap, Rohit Mane, Nityashree, and veteran actor Sayaji Shinde. National Award-winning child actors Trisha Thosar and Bhargav Jagtap also play pivotal roles. The story and screenplay are by Mahesh Manjrekar, with dialogues by Siddharth Salvi. Produced by #RahulPuranik and #RahulSugandh, the film will be released through Zee Studios on October 31.

“Well, the past few years have been quite nice professionally by God’s grace. I have always been a hustler and have relied on hard work. For artistes, it takes a long time for the hard work to convert into results and I am glad it has turned out to be the case for me. I am truly grateful to everyone who showered me with a lot of love for Drishyam 2 and all my previous projects across all languages. Without revealing much, all I would say is that my role in this film is going to be very different from what people have seen me play in the past. As an actor, it’s challenging roles that get the best out of you and that’s how I like to go about with my roles. I have done my bit. After giving an outstanding performance in his recent Bollywood release #“Drishyam2”, #SiddharthBodke is gearing up to enact Sakharam in the play titled #“SadSakharam”, which is coming on December 11. Though he has been a part of Bollywood and TV both, he shared that performing in the theatre in front of a live audience gives him the utmost pleasure.

Asked if he feels that it’s the monetary benefits because of which most actors don’t choose theatre, he said, “It is true that theatre gets the least money out of all mediums and is also not commercially viable. But I do it simultaneously with other projects. It’s very refreshing which is why I have decided to do at least one show in a year no matter what. It’s a learning process in itself.”

“ You get to be on the stage with the live audience, you need presence of mind, and the concentration and the reaction from the audience makes us feel loved. I can’t explain it in words but I would say I just love being on stage. I want to do plays and theatre only for the learning process. Money is not my concern, my only objective is to get adulation from the audience,” he added.

Siddharth’s new play “Sad Sakharam” opens on December 11. Talking about it he said, “It is directed by Neeraj Shirvaikar and written by Yugandhar Deshpande. Sanika Kashikar is the assistant director. My co-actor is Vaishnavi RP. It is a dark comedy on Sakharam’s not so emotional journey.”

He plays the titular character in the play, and shared, “Sakharam, in his thirties, is a very cool, liberal, modern guy. He is an ambivert. Though he wants to, he can’t get rid of his strong patriarchal mindset. He meets Laxmi through an app which guarantees feelings. He does find a feeling: violence. It doesn’t help either. He meets people, indulges in small talk, makes reels, laughs, drinks, dances, all the while doing a stand-up comedy show. But nothing works. It never does.”

The young actor did his first play when he was in the sixth grade. “My first commercial play was ‘Shyaam Chi Aayi’, where I played the protagonist. We did 500 shows in Maharashtra. Since then I’ve enjoyed acting and my grandfather Padmakar Darade helped me in it. As he’s a writer and he used to do plays when he was young, he inspired me to join theatre,” he shared.

Giving more details about the plays he has done, he said, “I’ve done so many experimental plays. In Nasik, I joined my group Ashwamedh Theatres and did so many plays over there. Once I did a ‘Rainmaker’, written by Prajakt Deshmukh, and it gave me a huge recognition and even awards. The prominent play that I’ve done so far is ‘Ananya’, which was written and directed by Pratap Phad.”

“Suyog is also a very reputed Natya Sanstha. My experience there was also very special and we did almost 300 shows. I also did ‘Ananya’ in Hindi too. The name of my character was Jai Dixit and I received many state level awards for my character and the drama,” Siddharth ended.

Producer Hitesh Patel’s debut production Neighbours’ trailer and music were launched in the presence of cast and crew of the film. Neighbours deals in cosmos and galaxy and also tells a romantic story. This science fiction romantic film, which tells a mysterious story of a young woman, is produced under the banner Mithuwala productions and is being directed by debutant director Vinay Shrirang Gholap. Vinay Gholap is credited for screenplay and dialogues which shares responsibility with Hrishikesh Koli.

The cast of ‘Neighbours’ includes Krutika Gaikwad, Chetan Chitnis, Siddharth Bodke, Prasad Javade, Shailesh Datar, Aditi Yewle and Neha Bam. Ashutosh Apte is the cameraman while music is scored by Nishad. Mahesh Kangne has penned lyrics which are voiced by Ritika Nishad, Nakash Aziz, Armaan Malik, Devashree Manohar, Krishna Bongane and Avadhoot Gupte. The film’s executive producer is Rahul Bhosale.
