Sharing from an audiences’ point of view, they want the ability to watch what they want, when they want it and on a mode, they want to watch in. Talking about the sector, within the entertainment industry at least, that has been the most impacted our cinema theatres. Thousands of single screens had to be shut down over the last few months, we need to figure out whether there are ways in which we can support the single screens to either re-open or be able to continue the business. They can be allowed to access loans at easier rates as they need easy access to capital, they need a light touch regulation on terms of the measures that they have to take, I think these points should be taken in consideration or the singles screens with unfortunately shut down which might lead us to lose a massive heritage as far as our cinemas are concerned.”

The war drama will have Mrunal Thakur (of Super 30 fame) and Priyanshu Painyuli (best known for Extraction and Mirzapur Season 2) in the roles of Khatter’s reel siblings and Soni Razdan as their mother. Pippa is set to have Ishaan in the role of Brigadier Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron who fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971.

With one of the biggest war films, Uri: The Surgical Strike, to his credit, Producer Ronnie Screwvala says, “Pippa is a story that chronicles an Indian victory in 1971 through the eyes of the Mehta family and signing on fine actors to essay the members of this brave family was our foremost priority. I’m glad we have talented actors like Mrunal and Priyanshu on board, who along with Ishaan will spearhead this story of triumph that needs to be told.”

He shared, “Today our country is at a point where women are coming forward with stories where they are not afraid to speak their minds. It’s not like I deliberately decided that I have to only work with female directors. It just happened that two women brought two incredible scripts (The Sky Is Pink and Yeh Ballet) which I loved and wanted to produce. I will continue to prefer content-driven projects as at the end of the day it’s just about making a great movie and getting the audience’s acceptance. The beauty of our industry, it’s all about your performance at the box-office. If you are accepted by the audience and they love watching you, one will be given the value they deserve no matter what and I feel this is the way it should’ve always been.”

He further shared that even though the number of male-centric movies is on the higher side, the path-breaking movies that empower women will keep on increasing with time. “Traditionally films have always been male-centric, which is why movies like Mother India, Umrao Jaan and Pakheeza were often mentioned as exceptions. Today, it’s happening so much more often, that we often mention such films because they are so many of them happening and it will keep increasing,” he added.
