Single Salma is a family entertainer that revolves around the nation’s obsession with ‘Shaadi’. The film is all set to release tomorrow, and to mark the occasion, the team gathered for a special screening.

Present at the screening were Huma Qureshi, Saqib Saleem, Sunny Singh, Kanwaljeet Singh, director Nachiket Samant, and Iqbal Zaheer, who came to support his friends.

Presented by Star Studio18 in association with Elemen3, Single Salma is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Saqib Saleem, Elemen3 Entertainment, Lalaland Entertainment and Firuzi Khan and Directed by Nachiket Samant starring Huma Qureshi, Sunny Singh and Shreyas Talpade and will release in theatres on 31st October 2025.

Review : Single Salma Explores India’s Obsession With Marriage!

Movies on female empowerment do have their own audience. In fact, Kangana Ranaut-starrer Queen was a milestone, and the recently released Single Salma appears to follow in that film’s footsteps. Single Salma captures the spirit of Queen, exploring India’s obsession with marriage and the chaos that follows when a 30-plus bride-to-be finds herself caught between two prospective grooms and one wild ride.

Salma Rizvi (#HumaQureshi) works as an assistant engineer at the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and lives with her parents and siblings. She is 33 years old, unmarried, and the sole breadwinner of her family. On her mother’s insistence, she goes for meetups with suitors for an arranged marriage. She meets Sikandar Khan (#ShreyasTalpade), the owner of a boutique selling wedding clothes, and is drawn to his understanding nature. She agrees to marry him.

When Salma decides to go to London on a work-related trip, everyone opposes the idea except Sikandar. In London, Salma discovers her independent streak and even strikes up a friendship with an attractive local, Meet Singh (Sunny Singh). One thing leads to another, and soon Salma finds herself with two grooms arriving with their baraats on her wedding day. What happens next is interesting to watch.

The subject isn’t novel, and the situations shown in the film differ quite a bit from the realities of present-day Lucknow. The screenplay is a tad slow, but some dialogues infuse both humor and emotion. Director Nachiket Samant has attempted to deliver a message, though it doesn’t quite land effectively. He keeps the proceedings simple, with predictable events and a sluggish pace. The music, too, fails to elevate the film in any way.

Huma Qureshi is impressive, though the weak screenplay lets her down. She carries the film on her strong shoulders with ease and delivers a convincing performance. Shreyas Talpade adds intensity and uses his impeccable comic timing to make his role more engaging. The supporting cast including Kawaljeet Singh, Shiv Kanugo, and Sachin Kavetham lend good support, while Nidhi Singh shines as Salma’s best friend.

Single Salma will need a lot of prayers to succeed at the box office.

A story that spans from the gullys of Lucknow to the paved walkways of London Single Salma takes a cheeky look at our obsession with Shaadi, especially if its ‘ladki ki shaadi ‘and the ladki has crossed the imaginary ‘Do Not Cross’ line of 30 plus. Salma Rizvi (#HumaQureshi) is an ambitious, intelligent and independent girl from Lucknow who takes up the challenge as she balances social pressures, career aspirations, family responsibilities and love. The slightly over the hill, over the top and madly in love Sikandar from Lucknow (#ShreyasTalpade) and the ‘open-minded’ Meet (#SunnySingh) from London who falls head over heels for Salma.

Overwhelmed with love Huma Qureshi shared, “Single Salma is really close to my heart. Seeing the trailer connect with people and watching them embrace this small-town story means the world to me. What I love about Salma is that she’s messy, real, and unafraid to break a few rules while chasing her own happiness. I truly hope the audience loves the film as much as we loved bringing it to life.”

Shreyas Talpade shared, “It feels wonderful to be part of a comedy-drama that also carries the warmth of a love story from a small town. The love for the trailer and for Sikandar has been so encouraging. I can’t wait for people to experience the story of Single Salma.”

Directed by Nachiket Samant, who brings together a talented and eclectic cast creating an effervescent milieu which not only tickles the funny bone but also pulls at your heartstrings with its take on cultures, relationships and two unforgettable baraats on the same night. The just released trailer promises rip-roaring entertainment on the big screen, but the question still remains who will finally manage to officially change the relationship status of Single Salma, guess we will find that out only in the 31st of October.
