Rohan Arora aka Mickey (Ranbir Kapoor) is a wealthy businessman who stays in a large family comprised of father Ramesh Arora (Boney Kapoor), mother Renu Arora (Dimple Kapadia), sister Minny (Hasleen Kaur), niece Sweety (Inayat Verma) and grandmother. His partner Dabbas (Anubhav Singh Bassi) is getting married to Kinchi (Monica Chaudhary) but he wants to be out of it. Incidentally apart from being multiple business partners they run a firm as relationship gurus and their speciality is break ups. For bachelor’s party of Dabbas in Spain, where Mickey is supposed to orchestrate break up of Dabbas and Kinchi, he is joined by Nisha Malhotra aka Tinni (Shraddha Kapoor) as she is the best friend of Kinchi. It’s love at first sight for Mickey and he starts chasing Tinni. As Tinni is not interested in a Holiday Love, she is uninterested in Mickey. But she doesn’t mind ‘Time-Pass’ love affair. Indulging in a lot of beach side masti, showing off their cultivated bodies, they both fall in love much before intermission. Later there has to be a twist. Do find out that twist by watching Tu Jhooti Main Makkar in theatres.

Though it’s a boy meets girl RomCom, the twists are interesting enough to keep viewers engaged in the second half, which has turned out well. The first half’s romance, songs etc is necessary as it offers window to the ensuing drama. The screenplay is well written but should have made a little tighter as the length of the movie (164 min) is way too long. But there aren’t many dull moments. Luv Ranjan, this time around focuses on the perils of modern dating. He cleverly talks about the pros and cons of joint family versus nuclear family. Production values are high and the cinematography is soothing to the eyes. Dialogues are quite funny in many sequences. The last 20 minutes or so are extremely funny where the director has used cinematic liberty with slight over the board acting from the characters. Viewers stay glued to the screen even during end credits as a lot of happenings are conveyed during that period and it’s worth it. Music plays an important role in progression of the story and ‘Tere Pyar Mein’,, ‘Thumka’, Pyar Hota Kai Baar Hain’ are standout songs which are beautifully choreographed. Kudos to composer Pritam.

Ranbir Kapoor has the longest screen time in the film and he does justice to it. He looks handsome, has a chiseled body, has killing dance moves and with variety of emotions he wins heart. He looks great with other Kapoor, i.e. Shraddha Kapoor. Their chemistry is beautiful and their scenes together are the most romantic and beautiful scenes in the film. Shraddha looks awesome and looks amazing in all attires. She aces bikini looks as well as corporate looks. She owns every frame she is in and her emotional outburst wins hearts. She typically portrays a modern girl with their aspirations and expectations from marriage. Dimple Kapadia stands out with her acting. This must one of the few roles she’ll be proud of herself. Boney Kapoor has nothing much to do but Hasleen Kaur shines in her limited screen space. Anubhav Singh Bassi is debuting with this film but he has delivered a punchIng performance like a veteran. Monica Chaudhary is noticeable too with a few one liners. Others too are very good especially the tiny tot Inayat Verma. The two cameos by Luv Ranjan’s favourite actors adds spice to the film.

Tu Jhooti Main Makkar is a perfect family entertainer which has a Luv Ranjan stamp all over it. Strongly recommended.

Sunny Singh’s character, “Titu” made audiences laugh their heart out. Today, as Singh celebrates 5 years of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, he credits all his success to the director Luv Ranjan.

The actor shared, “Wherever I am today and the recognition and love I receive to date from the fans and even in the industry, all the credit goes only to one person- Luv Ranjan. I have learned how to grow in life, as an actor and as a person because of him. After my parents, it’s Luv Sir, who has always been there.”

The actor feels the major credit for the film to do well is because of Luv Ranjan.

Singh continues, “I hope we celebrate the 6th, 7th or 8th successful year because it’s the most special cult film, youth has related so much with the film and they know me for my characters in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. I think this was the turning point for me. The schooling I got helped me with more films ahead. I give all the credit to Luv Sir. Every frame and every moment of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is very special for me.”

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety revolved around a war between love and friendship, the film also featured Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Baruccha along with Sunny Singh in pivotal roles. Audiences are now really looking forward to watching Sunny Singh as Lakshman in the mythological drama, Adipurush. Apart from Adipurush, Sunny will also be seen in a Horror-Comedy, The Virgin Tree opposite Sanjay Dutt.

#KartikAaryanTiwari is professionally known as #KartikAaryan has established himself as an A list star with spate of hit films. He credits his stardom to his fans and maintains that he’s a fan-made star. After hitting jackpot at the box office for various films he was approached by big production houses. But during the pandemic induced lockdowns it is rumoured that he was replaced by one of the big production houses. Nudged about this, he categorically said, “I keep doing my job and do not indulge in gossip. Frankly no one has time to play mischief in anybody’s career. I am happy where I am. ‘Main apne kaam se kaam rakhta hun’. Sometimes ‘baat ka batangad bana diya jata hai’. All these so called news are fabricated and someone’s flight of imagination. All these are rumours. I am doing good number of films and am in a happy space.”

While studying engineering Kartik had eyes on a film career and did some modelling in the beginning. After ‘struggling’ for a few years he landed a #LoveRanjan film, #PyarKaPunchnama. Though the film didn’t flutter much Kartik’s ‘monologue scene’ was a rage. The sequel of film did reasonably well but Love Ranjan directorial #SonuKeTituKiSweety was a runaway him and was a turning point in Kartik’s career. After this breakthrough film Kartik Aaryan did #LukaChhupi, #PatiPatniAurWoh which were declared super hits. This cemented Kartik’s position in the film industry and he was getting considered for meatier roles. Imtiaz Ali cast him in a romantic drama Love Aaj Kal 2 which did not do wonders in collections. But Kartik says, “Love Aaj Kal 2 received highest opening of my career. So it’s a special film for me.”

Talking further about BB2, Kartik continued, “We did a long schedule in Lucknow in Feb 20 and in March 20 lockdown was announced. Later with multiple lockdowns there was a state of anxiety of when the film will be completed. But all of us had the faith in our output and were confident to wait till the theatres opened with full capacity. I would like to stress here is that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is Not a remake or a sequel. It’s totally a new film. Though a few things are borrowed and incorporated in the script which justifies the title. For the first time I am working with a senior director. Anees ji is a fantastic in comedy scenes and has done justice to horror portions too. He himself is an established story-screenplay writer and what he brings on board is fabulous. Due to tremendous command over the language he used to change a few dialogues or words which would heighten the scene. He is very inspirational and used to bring positivity on the sets. Because of his loveable sense of humour the comedic scenes stand out.’

Kartik Aaryan has always been considered a mass appeal hero. “I am happy that I am considered a mass appeal hero. In fact I like to portray real characters from day to day life and I have been doing it. As far as roles are concerned I am game for mass appeal as well as nishe roles. I am open to any genre as long as the script and my role is good. Again social media has become very big and I appreciate my fans liking my work and posts. I want to confess there that though I have been doing romantic comedies I love watching hardcore horror films. But when I watch it at night I put on all the lights and go to sleep. But my linking for horror films has not diminished.” On the difficult scene in the film Kartik revealed, “The climax. It was the most difficult. We shot it over 48 hours non-stop. Usually a scene has various shots, 10-12 at the most. But for this film’s climax there were 300 shots. Though it was tiring, exhausting I was happy. I believe that with each film, each role I grow as an actor. And only hype can not make the film run. I believe in hard work.”

‘I am a horror enthusiast in a way as I consume a lot of horror stuff. I am a fan of horror films and watch movie in that space.   Talking about Chhorii I am playing a pregnant woman and I wore a pregnant body suit while performing. In fact I practised a lot, wearing that body suit, the movements and mannerisms of a pregnant woman. As I have no personal experience of pregnancy I had to do a lot of homework about the character playing in this film. It was an unreal space for me as horror is a larger emotion. I had to consciously keep in mind about Sakshi’s (character’s name Nushrratt is playing) pregnancy and then perform. Though it was a strenuous job, both emotionally and physically, (director) Vishal sir helped and took me through it’, Nushrratt was talking passionately about her ‘Chhorii’ experience.

Nushrratt did not watch the original marathi movie ‘Lapachhapi’, nor she read the full script. On this she reacted, ‘I tried this for the first time. I do not know whether I would have done a better job after reading the full script and watching the original film. But I did not want to get influenced by what was already shot. I wanted to bring something else, different to the table. I wanted to get my emotions, reactions to be instant and natural. I did not do any other project while doing Chhorii. In fact I did not shoot anything else 25 days prior to this film and it took me two months to come out of it. I was utterly engrossed in this character and we shot for 28 days at a stretch in a lonely sugarcane field in Madhya Pradesh.’ ‘I wanted to feel isolated because Sakshi is feeling isolation in the film’, added Ms Bharuccha.

Talking about the hardships, if any, she faced during the filming, Nushrratt said, ‘Well, though I did not experience any spooky incident, Vishal did. I had to walk, run in the sugarcane field. The blades of sugarcane are very sharp and it was a dense field. Almost everyday I used to fall, get bruised and used to get cuts because of the the sharpness of the blades. Again it felt spooky because you are surrounded by tall sugarcane plants while walking through the dark paths.’ About getting this film she said, “People who worked with me before like to work with me again. I met Jack (one of the producers) over a cup of coffee and we were discussing general things. Next day I received a call from Vikram sir (another producer) saying that he and Jack are making a film together, a remake of a marathi film Lapachhapi, and will you like to be part of it? I said yes and he said ‘you are on’. I couldn’t believe it initially and reconfirmed it over three phone calls. I landed this film much easily maybe because I was destined to do it.”

About any takeaway from this film, Nushrratt confidently answered, “I learnt a lot as an actor and am a more confident actor after doing ‘Chhorii’.”
